BACKGROUND Nuclear protein in testis(NUT) carcinoma is a rare aggressive malignant epithelial cell tumor, previously known as NUT midline carcinoma(NMC), characterized by an acquired rearrangement of the gene encoding NUT on chromosome 15q14. Due to the lack of characteristic pathological features, it is often underdiagnosed and misdiagnosed. A variety of methods can be used to diagnose NMC, including immunohistochemistry, karyotyping, fluorescence in situ hybridization, reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction, and next-generation sequencing. So far, there is no standard treatment plan for NMC and the prognosis is poor, related to its rapid progression, easy recurrence, and unsatisfactory treatment *** SUMMARY A 58-year-old female came to our hospital with a complaint of eye swelling and pain for 8 d. The diagnosis of NMC was confirmed after postoperative pathology and genetic testing. The patient developed nausea and vomiting, headache, and loss of vision in both eyes to blindness after surgery. magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) and positron emission tomography/computed tomography(PET/CT) performed after 1.5 mo postoperatively suggested tumor recurrence. The patient obtained remission after radiation therapy to some extent and after initial treatment with anti-angiogenic drugs and sonodynamic therapy(SDT), but cannot achieve long-term stability and eventually developed distant metastases, with an overall survival of only 17 *** For patients with rapidly progressing sinus tumors and poor response to initial treatment, the possibility of NMC should be considered and immunohistochemical staining with anti-NUT should be performed as soon as possible, combined with genetic testing if necessary. CT, MRI, and PET/CT imaging are essential for the staging, management, treatment response assessment and monitoring of NMC. This case is the first attempt to apply heat therapy and SDT in the treatment of NMC, unfortunately, the prognosis remained poor.

BACKGROUND Giant congenital biliary dilation(CBD)is a rare condition observed in clinical *** born with this condition often experience a poor overall health status,and the disease progresses rapidly,leading to severe biliary obstruction,infections,pressure exerted by the enlarged CBD on abdominal organs,disturbances in the internal environment,and multiple organ *** treatment of giant CBD using laparoscopy is challenging due to the high degree of variation in the shape of the bile duct and other organs,making it difficult to separate the bile duct wall from adjacent tissues or to control *** SUMMARY Herein,we present the details of an 11-d-old male newborn who was diagnosed with giant *** patient was admitted to the neonatal surgery department of our hospital due to a history of common bile duct cyst that was detected more than 3 mo ago,and also because the patient had been experiencing yellowish skin for the past 9 *** abnormal echo in the fetal abdomen was first noticed by the patient’s mother during a routine ultrasound examination at a local hospital,when the patient was at 24 wk+6 d of *** finding raised concerns about the possibility of congenital biliary dilatation(22 mm×21 mm).Subsequent ultrasound examinations at different hospitals consistently confirmed the presence of a congenital biliary *** specific treatment was administered for biliary dilatation during this period.A computed tomography scan conducted during the hospitalization revealed a large cystic mass in the right upper quadrant and pelvis,measuring approximately 9.2 cm×7.4 cm×11.3 *** on the CONCLUSION The analysis reveals that prenatal imaging techniques,such as ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging,play a crucial role in the early diagnosis,fetal prognosis,and treatment plan for giant *** surgery for giant CBD presents certain challenges,including difficulties in separating the cyst wall,anastomosis,and hemos

The mammalian brain is organized on multiple scales of network connections and functionally dependent regions for sensory and cognitive functions. Normal mammalian brain functions are mainly supported by high ATP yield from glucose oxidation(CMRglc(ox)). How the metabolic energy used at the subcellular level is related to the large swathes within the brain are still not well-known yet. We first calculated a comprehensive CMRglc(ox)-derived energy budget for gray and white matter from the bottom-up, using biophysical properties of neurons and glia in conjunction with species-specific electrophysiological and morphological data. Comparing metabolic measurements by PET, 13 C MRS, and autoradiography in rat and human brain with budget-derived CMRglc(ox) revealed conserved properties. We have observed several conserved principles regarding the energy costs for brain signaling and non-signaling components for both human and rats. We observed that awake cortical signaling processes and mass-dependent nonsignaling processes demand 0% and 0% of CMRglc(ox), respectively. Inhibitory neurons and glia need 15-20% of total energy, with the rest is needed by excitatory neurons. Nonsignaling demands dominate in white matter. Although rat brain possesses smaller cells, due to higher firing rates in rat brain their functions demand 15-20% greater energy than their human brain *** neuronal energetics was governed by events associated with synaptic transmission and propagation of action potentials, glial energetics was dominated by nonsignaling needs. Then, we feed the energy budget calculations of individual neurons and glias into a 3-D human brain cell density map calculated based on Big Brain cell-stained histological data, formulating a 3-D brain energy map with energy calculations in unit of either glucose in micromole/min/gram or ATP/min/gram in order to compare with PET measurement of actual brain. imaging study plays a crucial role in the diagnosis of prostate cancer. As early screening and management of prostate cancer has evolved over the past decade, research is now focusing on how to detect clinically significant prostate cancer and avoid overdiagnosis accurately. This article provides an overview of recent advances in imaging in prostate cancer diagnosis, including new ultrasound imaging techniques, positron emission computed tomography, multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging, and emerging areas such as imaging histology, by systematically reviewing and summarizing the existing literature.
