This study presents the development of an ultrasonic transducer with a radius horn for an ultrasonic milling spindle(UMS)*** ultrasonic transducer was intended to have a working frequency of approximately 30 *** different materials were considered in the study:stainless steel(SS 316L)and titanium alloy(Ti-6Al-4V).Titanium alloy gave a higher resonance frequency(33 kHz)than stainless steel(30 kHz)under the same preload compression *** electromechanical impedance simulation was carried out to predict the impedance resonance frequency for both materials,and the effect of the overhanging toolbar was *** to the electromechanical impedance simulation,the overhanging toolbar length affected the resonance frequency,and the error was less than 3%.Harmonic analysis confirmed that the damping ratio helps determine the resonance ***,damping ratios of 0.015-0.020 and 0.005-0.020 were selected for stainless steel and titanium alloy,respectively,with an error of less than 1.5%.Experimental machining was also performed to assess the feasibility of ultrasonic-assisted milling;the result was a lesser cutting force and better surface topography of Al 6061.

Avian interspecific brood parasitism is an excellent system for studying coevolutionary processes in nature because brood parasites directly affect host reproductive *** research on avian brood parasitism has,therefore,focused primarily on specific host anti-parasite behaviours and parasite ***,the population-level consequences of brood parasitism for host species are poorly *** study investigated the effect of Common Cuckoo(Cuculus canorus)parasitism on the productivity of a local population of the Great Reed Warbler(Acrocephalus arundinaceus)host in south-western Slovakia.A total of 495 females nesting at the studied site successfully fledged 1321 of their own young and 63 young of the Common Cuckoo over the course of 15 years(2008-2022),and the annual rate of successful parasitism ranged from 18% to 44% over this *** predicted,higher rates of successful cuckoo parasitism significantly reduced the annual productivity of the local Great Reed Warbler population,and its contribution to decreased host reproductive success was at about the same rate as overall nest failure caused by predation and other environmental *** a heavily parasitized population was probably maintained by immigrants from other populations and density-dependent selection,which is also consistent with source-sink ***,further long-term studies monitoring parasitized populations are required to confirm these findings.

to persist into adulthood and be associated with many adverse health outcomes later in adulthood,including cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes.[1]In utero exposure to“undernutrition”or“over-nutrition”plays an important role in obesity in childhood and diseases in adulthood.[2]It is established that high branchedchain amino acids(BCAAs)are associated with insulin resistance and gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM).[3]However,it is largely unknown whether in utero exposure to high BCAAs also plays a role in adverse childhood growth *** used 8-year children follow-up data of a case-control study nested within a population-based prospective cohort of pregnant women in Tianjin,China,to examine associations between maternal BCAAs levels in early pregnancy and obesity-related growth patterns if any,in offspring at 1-8 years of age.

Conventional sutures used in surgical procedures often lack the capability to effectively monitor physical and chemical activities or the microbial environment of surgical wounds due to their inadequate mechanical properties, insufficient electrical accuracy and unstability. Here, we present a straightforward layer-by-layer coating technique that utilizes 3-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane(CA), graphene oxide(GO), and ascorbic acid(AA) to develop conductive silk-based surgical sutures(CA-rGSFS). The CA-rGSFS feature a continuous reduced graphene oxide(rGO) film on their surface, forming robust hydrogen bonds with silk fibroin. The reduction process of rGO is confirmed through Raman analysis, demonstrating an enhanced D peak to G peak ***, the CA-rGSFS exhibit exceptional mechanical properties and efficient electron transmission, with a knot-pull tensile strength of 2089.72 ± 1.20 cN and an electrical conductivity of 130.30 ± 11.34 S/m, respectively, meeting the requirements specified by the United States Pharmacopeia(USP) for 2-0 sutures. These novel CA-rGSFS demonstrate the ability to accurately track resistance changes in various fluid environments with rapid response, including saline, intestinal, and gastric fluids. The suture also retains remarkable stretchablility and stability even after enduring 3000 tensile cycles, highlighting their potential for precise surgical site monitoring during the wound healing process.
