Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is a pressing global health concern that is associated with metabolic syndrome and *** the basis of the insights provided by Jiang et al,this editorial presents an exploration of the potential of mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)for NAFLD *** have numerous desirable characteristics,including immunomodulation,anti-inflammatory pro-perties,and tissue regeneration promotion,rendering them attractive candidates for NAFLD *** preclinical and early clinical studies have high-lighted the efficacy of MSCs in improving liver function and reducing disease severity in NAFLD ***,MSC heterogeneity,long-term safety concerns,and unoptimized therapeutic protocols remain substantial *** these challenges through standardized protocols and rigorous clinical trials is essential to the safe and successful application of MSCs in NAFLD *** research into MSC mechanisms and therapeutic optimization is required to improve treatments for NAFLD and related liver diseases.

In this editorial we comment on the article published in a recent issue of the World Journal of *** liver failure(ALF)is a critical condition characterized by rapid hepatocellular injury and organ dysfunction,and it often necessitates liver transplant to ensure patient *** research has eluci-dated the involvement of distinct cell death pathways,namely ferroptosis and pyroptosis,in the pathogenesis of *** is driven by iron-dependent lipid peroxidation,whereas pyroptosis is an inflammatory form of cell death;both pathways contribute to hepatocyte death and exacerbate tissue *** comprehensive review explores the interplay between ferroptosis and pyroptosis in ALF,highlighting the role of key regulators such as silent information regulator sirtuin *** from clinical and preclinical studies provide valuable perspectives on the dysregulation of cell death pathways in ALF and the therapeutic potential of targeting these *** across multiple disciplines is essential for translating the experimental insights into effective treatments for this life-threatening condition.

Background:Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is associated with impaired renal function,and both diseases often occur alongside other metabolic ***,the prevalence and risk factors for impaired renal function in patients with NAFLD remain *** objective of this study was to identify the prevalence and risk factors for renal impairment in NAFLD ***:All adults aged 18-70 years with ultrasound-diagnosed NAFLD and transient elastography examination from eight Asian centers were enrolled in this prospective *** fibrosis and cirrhosis were assessed by FibroScan-aspartate aminotransferase(FAST),Agile 3+and Agile 4 *** renal function and chronic kidney disease(CKD)were defined by an estimated glomerular filtration rate(eGFR)with value ofaired renal function and CKD were 37.4%and 4.9%,*** multivariate analysis,a moderate-high risk of advanced liver fibrosis and cirrhosis according to Agile 3+and Agile 4 scores were independent risk factors for CKD(Paired renal function after controlling for the other components of metabolic syndrome(Paired renal function(P<0.05).Conclusions:Agile 3+and Agile 4 are reliable for identifying NAFLD patients with high risk of *** glycemic control in the prediabetic stage might have a potential renoprotective role in these patients.

Diabetic patients who underwent long-term dialysis may increase the prevalence of foot ulceration. In addition, diabetic foot ulcer (DFUs) patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) do not heal well, and the amputation rate is 6.5 - 10 times higher compared to the non-nephropathic diabetic population. Thus, a suitable therapeutic agent was needed. ON101 is a topical cream that promotes diabetic wound healing through a unique macrophage-regulating ability. In this case series, we included 5 diabetes patients (mean age 54.6 ± 8.7 years, 4 mal) with ESRD (mean eGFR 7.4 ± 3.35 mL/min/1.73m2) and had experienced dialysis for at least 4.5 years. These patients also have UT (University of Texas) grade 2A DFUs that have existed for at least 1.5 months (mean ulcer duration 8.3 ± 8.97 months). These subjects were applied ON101 twice daily for up to 20 weeks, and wound size was recorded during treatment. Among these subjects, three ulcers (patient No. 1, 2, and 3) completely healed within 10 weeks upon ON101 application, and one ulcer was 99% reduced at 20th weeks (patient No. 4). Only one ulcer didn’t show an obvious response that may due to poor compliance in wound care and glucose control. In summary, the overall healing rate was 60%, suggesting ON101 performed equivalence healing efficacy in dialysis patients compared with those who did not have dialysis.

In this editorial,we discuss an article titled,“Significant risk factors for intensive care unit-acquired weakness:A processing strategy based on repeated machine learning,”published in a recent issue of the World Journal of Clinical *** care unit-acquired weakness(ICU-AW)is a debilitating condition that affects critically ill patients,with significant implications for patient outcomes and their quality of *** study explored the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to predict ICU-AW occurrence and identify key risk *** from a cohort of 1063 adult intensive care unit(ICU)patients were analyzed,with a particular emphasis on variables such as duration of ICU stay,duration of mechanical ventilation,doses of sedatives and vasopressors,and underlying comorbidities.A multilayer perceptron neural network model was developed,which exhibited a remarkable impressive prediction accuracy of 86.2%on the training set and 85.5%on the test *** study highlights the importance of early prediction and intervention in mitigating ICU-AW risk and improving patient outcomes.

In this editorial,we provide commentary on the study by Gong et *** this original research article,Gong et al employed a bioinformatics approach to investigate the involvement of autophagy in active ulcerative colitis(UC).Through differential gene expression analysis,they identified 58 differentially expressed autophagy-related genes in UC patients compared to healthy ***,HSPA5,CASP1,SERPINA1,CX3CL1,and BAG3,were found to be upregulated in active UC patients,suggesting their significance as core autophagyrelated *** analysis unveiled associations with crucial signaling pathways and diseases such as middle cerebral artery occlusion and ***,immune cell infiltration analysis revealed notable differences in immune cell composition between UC patients and healthy *** findings offer valuable insights into the role of autophagy in UC pathogenesis and potential therapeutic targets.
