The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated methods to faciltate contactless evaluation of patients in hospital *** minimizing in-person contact with individuals who may have COVID 19,healthcare workers can prevent disease transmission and conserve personal protective *** vital signs is a ubiquitous task that is commonly done in person by healthcare *** eliminate the need for in-person contact for vital sign measurement in the hospital setting,we developed ***,a mobile quadruped robotic *** system includes IR and RGB cameras for vital sign monitoring and a tablet computer for face-to-face medical *** is teleoperated by trained clinical staff to simultaneously measure the skin temperature,respiratory rate,and heart rate while maintaining social distancing from patients and without removing their *** enable accurate,contactless measurements on a mobile system without a static black body as reference,we propose novel methods for skin temperature compensation and respiratory rate measurement at various distances between the subject and the cameras,up to 5 *** compensation,the skin temperature MAE is 13℃.Using the proposed compensation method,the skin temperature MAE is reduced to 0.3℃.The respiratory rate method can provide continuous monitoring with a MAE of 1.6 BPM in 30s or rapid screening with a MAE of 2.1 BPM in *** the heart rate estimation,our system is able to achieve a MAE less than 8 BPM in 10s measured in arbitrary indoor light conditions at any distance below 2 m.

Background and Study Aims: Although it has been proved that pancreatic stentin g is effective in the symptomatic management of severe chronic pancreatitis, lon g-term outcomes after stent removal have not been fully evaluated. Patients and Methods: A total of 100 patients (75 men, 25 women; median age 49) with severe chronic pancreatitis and pancreatic duct strictures were successfully treated fo r pancreatic pain using polyethylene pancreatic stents and were followed up for at least 1 year after stent removal. The stents were exchanged “on demand" (in cases of recurrence of pain) and a definitive stent removal was attempted on the basis of clinical and endoscopic findings. Clinical variables were retrospectiv ely assessed as potential predictors of re-stenting. Results: The etiology of t he chronic pancreatitis was alcoholic (77%), idiopathic (18%), or hereditary ( 5%). Patients were followed up for a median period of 69 months (range 14-163 months) after study entry, including a median period of 27 months (range 12 -12 6 months) after stent removal. The median duration of pancreatic stenting before stent removal was 23 months (range 2 -134 months). After attempted definitive stent removal, 30 patients (30%) required re-stenting within the first year of follow-up, at a median time of 5.5 months after stent removal (range 1-12 mon ths), while in 70 patients (70%) pain control remained adequate during that period. By the end of the follow-up period a total of 38 patients had require d re-stenting and four ultimately underwent pancreaticojejunostomy. Pancreas di visum was the only factor significantly associated with a higher risk of re-ste nting (P = 0.002). Conclusions: The majority (70%) of patients with severe chro nic pancreatitis who respond to pancreatic stenting maintain this response after definitive stent removal. However,a significantly higher re-stenting rate was observed in patients with chronic pancreatitis and pancreas divisum.

Disturbance of the inflammatory response in the gut is important in several clinical diseases ranging from inflmmatory bowel disease to postoperative ileus. Several feedback mechanisms exist that control the inflammatory cascade and avoid collateral damage. In the gast rointestinal tract, it is of particular importance tocontrol the immune response to maintain the balance that allows dietary up take and utilization of nutrientson one hand, while preventing invasion of bacteria and toxins on the other hand. The process of digestion and absorption of nutrients requires a relative hyporesponsiveness of the immune cells in the gut to luminacontents which is not yet fully understood. Recentlythe autonomic nervous system has been identifi ed asan important pathway to control local and systemic inflammation and gut barrier integrity. Activation of thepathway is possible via electrical or via pharm acological interventions, but is also achieved in a physiologicamanner by ingestion of dietary lipids. Administration of dietary lipids has been shown to be very effectivein reducing the inflammatory cascade and maintaining intestinal barrier integrity in several experimental studies. This beneficial effect of nutrition on the inflammatory response and intestinal barrier integrity opens new therapeutic opportunities for treatment of certain gastrointestinal disorders. Furthermore, this neural feedback mechanism provides more insight in the relative hyporesponsiveness of the immune cells in the gut. Here, we will discuss the regulatory function of the autonomic nervous system on the inflammatory response and gut barrier function and the potential benefit in a clinical setting.

Twenty-four hours multichannel intraesophageal impedance and pH monitoring in a patient who suffered from recurrent hiccups for more than a year revealed frequent supragastric belching and pathological oesophageal acid exposure. Furthermore, a temporal relationship between the start of a hiccup episode and gastric belching was observed. The data support the hypothesis that there is an association between supragastric belching, persistent recurrent hiccups and gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, and that gastric belching may evoke hiccup attacks.

AIM: To establish if PTCH1a transcriptional regulation region (TRR) is methylated in gastric cancer and its influence in gastric tumorigenesis. METHODS: The CpG islands in PTCH1a TRR were analyzed by Methyl Primer Express v1.0 software. The region from -643 to -355 bp (the transcription initiation site of PTCH1a was designated as 0) that contained 19 CpG sites was chosen for bisulfitesequencing PCR (BSP) and methylation-specific PCR (MSP) detection. The gastric cancer cell line AGS was treated with 5-aza-2’-deoxycytidine (5-Aza-dC; 1 μmol/L) for 3 d. Alterations in PTCH1a TRR methylation in treated AGS cells was measured through BSP clone sequences, and their PTCH1 expression was measured by quantitative RT-PCR. The cell cycle and apoptosis were observed with flow cytometry through propidium iodide (PI) staining or annexin V/PI double *** prevalence of PTCH1a TRR methylation was investigated in 170 gastric cancer tissue samples and the adjacent normal tissues by MSP. The correlation of PTCH1a TRR methylation with PTCH1 expression or with patients’ clinical features was analyzed. RESULTS: Methylation of PTCH1a TRR was observed in AGS cells and a subset of gastric cancer tissues (32%, 55/170), while no methylation amplifi cation products were observed in any normal tissues by MSP. The methylation of PTCH1a TRR was correlated negatively with PTCH1 expression (Spearman’s r = -0.380, P = 0.000). However, methylation of PTCH1a TRR was not related to the gastric cancer patients’ clinical features, such as sex, age of onset, clinical stage, lymph node metastasis or histological grade. The methylation of PTCH1a TRR in AGS cells was almost converted to non-methylation after 5-Aza-dC treatment, which increased PTCH1 expression (5.3 ± 2.5 times; n = 3) and apoptosis rate (3.0 ± 0.26 times; P gastric cancers and correlated negatively with PTCH1 expression.
