Assimilating Atmosphere Reanalysis in Coupled Data Assimilation

This paper tests the idea of substituting the atmospheric observations with atmospheric reanalysis when setting up a coupled data assimilation *** paper focuses on the quantification of the effects on the oceanic analysis resulted from this substitution and designs four different assimilation schemes for such a substitution.A coupled Lorenz96 system is constructed and an ensemble Kalman filter is *** atmospheric reanalysis and oceanic observations are assimilated into the system and the analysis quality is compared to a benchmark experiment where both atmospheric and oceanic observations are *** schemes are designed for assimilating the reanalysis and they differ in the generation of the perturbed observation ensemble and the representation of the error covariance *** results show that when the reanalysis is assimilated directly as independent observations,the root-mean-square error increase of oceanic analysis relative to the benchmark is less than 16%in the perfect model framework;in the biased model case,the increase is less than 22%.This result is robust with sufficient ensemble size and reasonable atmospheric observation quality（e.g.,frequency,noisiness,and density）.If the observation is overly noisy,infrequent,sparse,or the ensemble size is insufficiently small,the analysis deterioration caused by the substitution is less severe since the analysis quality of the benchmark also deteriorates significantly due to worse observations and *** results from different assimilation schemes highlight the importance of two factors：accurate representation of the error covariance of the reanalysis and the temporal coherence along each ensemble member,which are crucial for the analysis quality of the substitution experiment.

Research work presented in this study has the primary target of exploring joint attributes of AZ31 magnesium alloys using friction stir welding process with a modified tool referred as bobbin *** of inert and open atmosphere on mechanical properties are evaluated over a wide range of welding speed and tool rotation *** of the research findings from the inert atmosphere bobbin tool were made with the traditional process of friction stir *** results depicted improved joint properties for inert atmosphere *** and intermediate range of tool rotational speed is found to be favorable for bobbin tool friction stir welding without and with an inert medium,*** atmosphere due to inert medium leads to less oxidation of the AZ31 Mg alloy leading to superior joint *** investigations are also made with the aim of evaluating the impact of bobbin tool and inert medium on joint *** each aspect for joining of AZ31 Mg alloy,bobbin tool with inert medium is found to be an effective solution for joining with improved mechanical properties compared to without inert bobbin tool as well as conventional tool friction stir welding.

BACKGROUND: The wave form, latency and wave amplitude of visual evoked potentials (VEP) are obviously affected by the stimulative parameters, physiological status of the subjects and anesthetics, thus there are greater normal variations and individual differences. The features of flash VEP (F-VEP) are to be observed. OBJECTIVE: To observe and compare the differences of F-VEP latencies and wave amplitudes between eyes in rabbits, and investigate the correlation with sex and the side of eyes. DESIGN: A comparative animal experiment. SETTING: department of Neurosurgery, General Hospital of Chinese PLA. MATERIALS: The experiment was carried out in the neurophysiological laboratory of the Institute of Neurosciences, General Hospital of Chinese PLA from September 2004 to February 2005. Thirty big-ear rabbits of clean degree, 15 males and 15 females, weighing 2.0-2.5 kg, were provided by the animal center of the General Hospital of Chinese PLA. METHODS: Viking-IV perioperative monitor and flash stimulator for special use were applied. The rabbits were anesthetized with intramuscular injection of compound ketamine. The recording electrode was placed at 3 mm anterior to exoccipital tuberosity (onion, Oz), and the reference electrode was placed at the ear edge of the same side. The stimulative frequency was 1.9 Hz, and the amplifier was 50 μV; The range of wave filter was 5 Hz for high pass and 100 Hz for low pass; The average overlapping was 200 times, and the analytical time was 250 ms. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Comparison of F-VEP wave forms; F-VEP latencies and wave amplitudes. RESULTS: All the 30 rabbits were involved in the analysis of results. ① Comparison of F-VEP wave forms in rabbits: The F-VEP waves mainly manifested as positive-negative-positive (PNP). Skin cancer is one of themost severe diseases,andmedical imaging is among themain tools for cancer *** images provide information on the evolutionary stage,size,and location of tumor *** paper focuses on the classification of skin lesion images considering a framework of four experiments to analyze the classification performance of Convolutional Neural Networks(CNNs)in distinguishing different skin *** CNNs are based on transfer learning,taking advantage of ImageNet ***,in each experiment,different workflow stages are tested,including data augmentation and fine-tuning *** CNN models based on DenseNet-201,Inception-ResNet-V2,and Inception-V3 are proposed and compared using the HAM10000 *** results obtained by the three models demonstrate accuracies of 98%,97%,and 96%,***,the best model is tested on the ISIC 2019 dataset showing an accuracy of 93%.The proposed methodology using CNN represents a helpful tool to accurately diagnose skin cancer disease.

Mixed culture of fetal pituitary-hypothalamic-nigral cells

Abstract Objective To explore an ideal form of graft for pituitary transplantation, which could restore normal pituitary function and avoid hyperprolactinmia providing it is implanted outside the hypophysiotrophic area. Methods Pituitary cells, hypothalamic cells and nigral cells were obtained from human embryos (4 6 months gestation) during therapeutic abortion, and three different cultures were conducted: group P (n=38), half amount of pituitary cells per embryo; group PH (n=18), half amount of pituitary cells mixed with double amount of hypothalamic cells obtained from each embryo; and group PHN (n=20), half amount of pituitary cells mixed with double amount of hypothalamic and nigral cells acquired from each embryo. The histological changes of the cultured cells were observed and the secretive levels of growth hormone and prolactin in department of Neurosurgery, 454 Hospital of PLA, Nanjing 210002, China (Wang YF) departments of Neurosurgery (Zhang NY, Lu SX, Peng CP and Hou JG), Electron Microscopy (Cheng BG), Central experiment (Din XJ) and RIA (Bao YT), The First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing 210029, China different medium were measured. Results All the monolayer cultured cells grew well throughout the 30 day culture period. Ultrastructurally, the cells in group P degenerated significantly at the 21st day of culture. However, in the PH and PHN groups, the cells kept well viability. The secretive level of growth hormone in culture medium declined steadily in group P, but kept at 20 ng/ml in both PH and PHN groups. Prolactin concentration decreased rapidly following an initial increase in group P, but kept at a high level in PH group. In PHN group, the prolactin level was valuable, remaining at about 15 ng/ml. Conclusions In the mixed culture of fetal pituitary hypothalamic nigral cells, the pituitary cells kept high viability in a long period and its hormone secretion remained at ideal levels. In continuous casting rolling process, the deformed body is different from the hot rolling strip. The metal in casting rolling zone is first assumed to be viscous fluid and the mathematical model of casting rolling force is established, then the calculating formula for casting rolling torque is derived. In addition, considering the effects of deforming cone and appendant torque of rotary junctions sealing ring, the calculating model which accords with casting rolling condition is found out. The macroporous anion exchangers with long-chained cross-linking agents were investigated for the tungsten recovery from salt *** physical-chemical characteristics of these sorbents were studied by means of sorption-desorption experiment aswell as electron and *** anion exchangers on the basis of macroporous copolymers of methylacrylate and divinyl-ester of diethyleneglycol or tetravinyl-ester of pentaerythritol possess the exchange capacity to tungsten 2--5 times greater than the porous anion exchangers on the basis of styrene and divinylbenzene,therefore they can be used for selective tungsten recovery from comulex salt solutions.
