The use of directives in communicating the nature of the pandemic and reference to social experiences were promoted using images on social media *** images or memes are used to create awareness and reinforce the criteria for safety during the *** studies on internet memes have concentrated on humor generation,speaker-hearer shared knowledge,neologism,and multimodality among others,with insufficient attention paid to the use of directives and references in such coronavirus-motivated *** paper,therefore,examines how directives and references are employed in conveying expected social responsibilities through coronavirus-motivated internet memes in Nigeria and other socio-cultural *** data,one hundred coronavirus-motivated memes were purposively selected from Facebook,and eight representative memes were subjected to pragmatic analysis using aspects of Jacob Mey’s(***:An introduction,2nd ***:Blackwell Publishing)pragmatic acts theory to unearth insights from *** paper observes that the various spheres of life that are relatable to an online audience help to express what the pandemic is about and enhance the meaning of the pandemic with the context of the use of the memes,giving clearer perspectives on the *** and references are useful tools for conveying social responsibilities to online audience.

The global outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic has been experienced differently by people depending on their socio-cultural *** varied experiences are expressed in various forms of communication,including *** paper examines the pragmatic resources inherent in COVID-19-related cartoons depicting the impact of the virus on Nigerian *** COVID-19-related cartoons,circulated on social media,were collected on Twitter and WhatsApp platforms between March and April 2020 as *** and presupposition served as theoretical framework and descriptive research design was *** reveal five socio-contextual domains,religion,health,economy,politics and governance nd family,characterizing the social experiences of Nigerians during the *** the evocation of situational reality,pragmatic sarcasm,punning,and orientation to government insensitivity,the cartoonists evoke pragmatic functions of informing and warning about social behaviours in the religion,family and health domains;recreating situational realities on socioeconomic impacts in the domain of economy;and satirizing government policies and mocking politicians’insincerity in the domain of politics and governance on sociopolitical experiences of Nigerians before and during the *** study concludes cartoons are a strong means of portraying societal realities and people’s experiences comically and graphically.

Live streaming e-commerce is not only an important part of China’s digital economy but also the preferred way of purchase for many Chinese,especially the *** 2022,a new model initiated by East Buy has emerged,quickly becoming known as knowledge-based live *** most famous streamer from this novel type of live streaming is Dong Yuhui,a former english teacher of the New Oriental *** a top Internet influencer with millions of followers,Dong Yuhui has become a conspicuous social sign of the rising China that is undergoing fast technological,economic,and cultural *** study thus takes Dong Yuhui as an example to examine the typical discourses of the knowledge-based live *** a triangulation of case study,discourse analysis,and sentiment analysis,it finds that Dong Yuhui mainly employs the strategies of disseminating encyclopedic knowledge,telling intriguing stories,and using poetic language in his live streaming *** unique discourse has the main function of fulfilling customers’intellectual,emotional,and psychological *** such,it is warmly received by customers,whose comments are centered on the talents of the streamer rather than the attributes of the commodity.

Analysis of Non-english Major College Students’Test Anxiety in CET-4

Test anxiety, which means individuals show excessive worry, nervousness and anxiety in examination contexts, is becoming a more and more common phenomenon. A moderate level of test anxiety will motivate students while a too high or too low level of test anxiety will influence students’ academic performance and their cognitive abilities. Most present researches are focused on secondary school students or on the final exam of a specific school. Few researches on college students and standard tests can be found. Therefore, the researcher took 255 college students as samples to investigate the test anxiety level of non-english majors, their attitudes towards different test tasks (ATDTT) and the correlation between them. The results of the research are as follows: Firstly, the students from non-english majors are at the lower of a moderate test anxiety level in CET-4 and there is no significant gender difference. Secondly, among the four sections in CET-4, students are most positive in writing, less positive in translation and reading, and the least positive in listening. Thirdly, students’ ATDTT in CET-4 are negatively correlated with total test anxiety, cognitive anxiety and emotional anxiety. The researcher hopes this research can offer some help to teachers and students in need.

This study adopts the grounded theory approach to critically examine the essence and implementation of Ideological and Political Education(IPE)within college english curricula at Chinese *** analyzed a corpus of 80 award-winning lesson plans from the“Teaching Star Competition”held by the Foreign language Teaching and Research Press to establish specific constituents that comprise IPE and identify the instructional methodologies incorporated in the teaching *** research shows that IPE strategically merges language proficiency training with civic education,aiming to cultivate a strong national identity,solid cultural pride,and global *** be more detailed,the core categories of IPE encapsulate critical thinking,professional ethics,and cross-cultural communication skills,which are based on the innovative use of technological resources and adaptive pedagogical *** has also elaborated on the comprehensive assessment mechanisms to measure cognitive and affective outcomes,making it a multidimensional *** a three-stage coding process,this study aims to contribute to this discussion regarding ideological and political education integrated into Chinese higher education *** finding and conclusion in this study drawn for future curriculum developments and reformulation of educational policy suggest ways IPE could better serve in fostering well-rounded individuals capable of contributing to national and global contexts.

Objective:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Chinese herbal medicines(CHMs)combined with chemical drugs for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease(AD).Materials and Methods:Databases were searched to retrieve randomized controlled trials(RCTs)of CHMs combined with tacrine,galantamine,rivastigmine,donepezil,or memantine,following strict inclusion and exclusion *** research papers published in english,Chinese,and Japanese were *** primary outcome was the mini-mental state examination(MMSE)score and the secondary outcomes were AD assessment scale cognitive subscale(ADAS-Cog)score and safety ***-analysis was carried out using Rev Man 5.3 and subgroup analysis was conducted to identify the sources of ***:A total of 15 RCTs with 1386 participants were included in this *** donepezil was used in the retrieved ***-analyses showed that the combination of CHMs with donepezil led to significant improvement in the MMSE score(Z=9.45;P<0.00001;weighted mean difference[WMD]=2.68,95%confidence interval[CI]:2.12-3.24)and a significant decrease in the ADAS-Cog score(Z=5.53;P<0.00001;WMD=-3.79;95%CI:-5.13--2.44).Safety evaluation demonstrated that these combination treatments relieved adverse events such as insomnia(risk ratio[RR]=0.20,95%CI:0.06-0.68;P=0.01)and hive(RR=0.10;95%CI:0.01-0.73;P=0.02).Conclusions:The combination of CHMs with a chemical drug like donepezil led to significant improvements in patient cognition as well as a better safety profile when compared to the application of a chemical drug alone.
