In this paper,we apply the spatial panel model to explore the relationship between the dynamic of two types of crude oil prices(WTI and Brent crude oil)and their refined products over *** the turbulent months of 2011,when Cushing Oklahoma had reached capacity and the crude oil export ban removal in 2015 as breakpoints,we apply this method both in the full sample and the three resultant ***,results suggest our results show that both WTI and Brent display very similar behaviour with the refined ***,when attending to each regime,results derived from the first and third regimes are quite similar to the full sample ***,during the second regime,Brent crude oil became the benchmark in the petrol market,and it influenced the distillate ***,our model can let us determine the price-setters and price-followers in the price formation mechanism through refined *** results possess important considerations to policymakers and the market participants and the price formation.

Digital Revolution and Job Quality of Lower Class Workers: Quasi-experimental Evidence from the Broadband China Program

This study examines the impact of the digital revolution on the job quality of workers with a specific focus on those at the lowest end of the spectrum in China's domestic labor market. Leveraging exogenous timing variations that result from the implementation of the Broadband China Program across different cities, it provides quasi-experimental evidence concerning the effects of the digital revolution on the job quality of lower class workers, particularly rural–urban migrant workers. Using data from China Migrants Dynamic Survey, this study reveals that migrants' comprehensive job quality index increased by 0.0138 (5.33 percent), and its component indices experienced positive effects after the Broadband China Program was implemented. This study also investigates heterogeneous policy treatment effects among workers with diverse demographic and occupational characteristics. Underlying mechanisms are considered, including positive macroeconomic shocks, increased social interactions, and Internet use. In particular, migrants' attitudes toward local settlement became more positive, suggesting that the positive effects of the digital revolution on livelihood lasted for some time. Taking China as an example, this study contributes valuable empirical evidence of how the digital revolution can affect lower class workers' employment or living conditions in a developing country. Related policy implications are also considered.

Intercultural trust in global contexts plays a central role in helping people from different cultures to communicate comfortably,which is essential for *** to construct a framework that might foster international cooperation,and thus be helpful for coping with global emergencies,we relate a Western nomological approach to an Eastern systems approach to analyse intercultural trust in global *** cultural impacts on intercultural trust and the nomological framework of cultural differences,we propose an intercultural trust model to interpret how cultural differences influence trust.A qualitative study of Chinese-Irish interactions was conducted to interpret this *** organized 10 seminars on intercultural trust,and interviewed 16 people to further explore the respondents'deeper feelings and experiences about intercultural trust in global *** this study,we have identified factors impacting on intercultural trust,and found that intercultural trust can be developed and improved in various *** llustrate these ways,we have provided tactics and methods for building intercultural trust in global *** are highlighted for organizations to avoid cultural clashes and relevant political or economic risks.

In the face of a significant public health event,consumers may either increase their panic buying or decrease their willingness to make *** study focuses on the impact of a significant public health event on offline store sales and consumer consumption,utilizing data from chain convenience stores in Hefei and Wuhu during early 2019 and early 2020 in *** a difference-in-differences model,the study investigates the effect of the significant public health event outbreak on weekly store sales,order numbers,and consumer consumption in terms of product quantities,transaction amount,average amount per order,and transaction *** from prior literature that finds hoarding behavior of consumers online,the findings of this paper indicate a significant reduction in stores’offline weekly sales and order numbers,as well as consumers’offline weekly consumption across the four dimensions,as a result of the significant public health event ***,employing a mediation model,the study explores the pathway of population mobility through which the significant public health event adversely affects offline ***,subset analysis is conducted for stores located in different areas and consumers with varying characteristics,revealing that the aforementioned conclusions predominantly apply to stores situated in office areas and residential areas,as well as consumers with either no apparent preference for different product categories or a noticeable preference for food.

With the participation of large quantities of renewable energy in power system operations,their volatility and intermittence increases the difficulties and challenges of power system economic *** the uncertainty of renewable energy generation,based on the distributionally robust optimization method,a two-stage economic dispatch model is proposed to minimize the total operation *** this paper,it is assumed that the fluctuating of renewable power generation follows the unknown probability distribution that is restricted in an ambiguity set,which is established by utilizing the first-order moment information of available historical ***,the theory of conditional value-at-risk is introduced to transform the model into a tractable model,which we call robust counterpart *** on the stochastic dual dynamic programming method,an improved iterative algorithm is proposed to solve the robust counterpart ***,the convergence optimum can be obtained by the improved iterative algorithm,which performs a forward pass and backward pass repeatedly in each iterative ***,by comparing with other methods,the results on the modified IEEE 6-bus,118-bus,and 300-bus system show the effectiveness and advantages of the proposed model and method.

As a fundamental logistics service,the express delivery(ED)industry provides production and consumption activities to maintain efficient supply chain *** plays an important role in promoting industrial development and maintaining daily life and *** study examined the effects of COVID-19 on the ED industry using ED package delivery data from 31 provinces(autonomous regions and municipalities)in *** a difference-in-differences method,the COVID-19 outbreak was found to have a positive effect and epidemic prevention and control(EPC)policies were found to have negative effects on the development of the ED *** addition to EPC policies,the Chinese government has implemented other short-term economic interventions(SEI),such as the resumption of work and production(RWP),policies to balance economic growth,and epidemic *** study divided the pandemic period into three stages to analyze the different impacts of EPC and SEI policy changes on the ED *** RWP policies adopted during the pandemic positively impacted the volume and income of packages delivered to the ED *** conclusions of this study are significant for the ED industry in addressing public health emergencies and for the Chinese government to formulate EPC and SEI policies during epidemic periods.

As Climate Change Haven Communities are constructed across the Northern Hemisphere, it will be necessary to attract two types of migrants to populate them. The first group consists of professionals and companies in eco-sustainable businesses, such as law firms, insurance companies, investment firms, banking, technological innovation, mass media, medical research and pharmaceutical research. The second group will consist of persons engaged in organic/eco-sustainable agriculture whose crops and animal husbandry practices can be transferred successfully to Climate Change Haven regions. The present research focuses on the social and economic variables that must be taken into account to insure that each new Climate Change Haven Community becomes successfully integrated with the local population and forms a cohesive, harmonious social structure. Examples are given from the United States, France, Spain, Portugal and Italy.

This research advocates for the construction of Climate Change Haven Communities across the Appalachian Region. The proposed development plan can be extended to the northern tier states across the US and also to the northern and mountainous regions of Europe and Asia. We present an analogy to the earlier climate change period of the Last Glacial Maximum/“Ice Age” in which these same northern regions of the planet were covered in ice sheets making them uninhabitable for most humans and many plant and animal species. In some significant ways, the Ice Age scenario can be a reverse-model for our current climate crisis. We also advocate strongly for the prevention of upscale real estate development projects in these same regions of the globe, as these will foreclose the possibility of safely sheltering the millions of persons who will be displaced by climate change over the next 5 to 10 years.
