A novel dimeric coumarin (1), a dimeric of seselin named diseselin A, was isolated from the aerial part of Clausena lenis. The structure was elucidated based on the MS, 1D and 2D NMR data.

A new cardenolide, toxicarioside E （1）, was isolated from the latex ofAntiaris toxicaria （Pers.） Lesch （Moraceae）. Its structure was elucidated on the basis of spectral data and chemical evidence. Compound 1 showed significant cytotoxicity against K562 and SGC-7901 cell lines in vitro by MTT method with the IC50 value of 0.026 and 0.027 μg/mL, respectively.

To evaluate the phylogenetic patterns of the distribution and evolution of plant secondary metabolites(PSMs), we selected 8 classes of PSMs and mapped them onto an updated phylogenetic tree including 437 families of seed plants. A significant phylogenetic signal was detected in 17 of the 18 tested seed-plant clades for at least 1 of the 8 PSM classes using the D statistic. The phylogenetic signal, nevertheless, indicated weak clustering of PSMs compared to a random distribution across all seed plants. The observed signal suggests strong diversifying selection during seed-plant evolution and/or relatively weak evolutionary constraints on the evolution of PSMs. In the survey of the current phylogenetic distributions of PSMs, we found that multiple origins of PSM biosynthesis due to external selective forces for diverse genetic pathways may have played important roles. In contrast, a single origin of PSMs seems rather uncommon. The distribution patterns for PSMs observed in this study may also be useful in the search for natural compounds for medicinal purposes.

Leading by cytotoxicity against HepG2 cells,bioactivity-guided fractionation of the EtOAc fraction from Artemisia atrovirens led to the isolation of 18 new guaianolide dimers,artematrolides A-R and lavandiolides A,B,C,H,and *** compounds(1,4,10,12,13,and 19-21) were unambiguously confirmed by the single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses,and the others were elucidated based on IR,UV,HRESIMS,1 D and 2 D NMR experiments,and comparison of the experimental and calculated ECD ***,all of them were [4+2] Diels-Alder adducts of two monomeric *** isolates were evaluated for their cytotoxicity against three human hepatoma cell lines,and 19 compounds demonstrated cytotoxicity against HepG2,SMMC-7721,and Huh7 cell ***,compounds 1,12,14,and 15 exhibited cytotoxicity with IC50 values of 4.4,3.8,7.6,and 6.7 μmol/L(HepG2),9.6,4.6,6.6,and 6.0 μmol/L(SMMC-7721),and 7.6,4.5,6.9,and 5.6 μmol/L(Huh7),***,compound 12 showed the most promising activity against three human hepatoma cell lines and dose-dependently inhibited cell migration and invasion,induced G2/M cell cycle arrest and cell apoptosis in HepG2 cells,down-regulated the expression of BCL-2 and PARP-1,and activated PARP-1 to up-regulate the expression of cleaved-PARP-1.

A new compound 8-chloro-5,6,7-trihydroxy-2-（3-hydroxy-4-methoxyphenethyl）-5,6,7,8-tetralaydro-4H-chromen-4-one （1） was isolated from the Chinese eaglewood [Aquilaria sinensis （Lour.） Gilg]. Its structure was elucidated on the basis of spectral data. Compound I showed cytotoxicity against human gastric cancer cell line （SGC-7901） in vitro by MTT method with the IC50 value of 14.6 μg/mL.
