Carbon nanotubes(CNTs) have garnered great attention in recent years due to their outstanding electrical, thermal, and mechanical properties. The incorporation of small amounts of CNTs in polymers can substantially improve the sensitivity of the polymer's electrical conductivity. This paper presents a modified Maxwell model to evaluate the electrical conductivity of CNTs-filled polymer composites by introducing a transition zone to account for the tunneling effect. In this modified Maxwell model, the CNTs-filled polymer composite is modeled as a three-phase composite, consisting of a matrix(polymer), inclusions(CNTs), and a transition zone(tunneling zone). The effective electrical conductivity(EEC) of the composite is calculated based on the volume fractions and electrical conductivities of the matrix, inclusions, and transition zone. The model's validity is confirmed through the use of available test data, which demonstrates its capability to accurately capture the nonlinear conductivity behavior observed in CNTs-polymer composites. This study offers valuable insights into the design of high-performance conductive polymer nanocomposites, and enhances the understanding of electrical conduction mechanisms in CNT-dispersed polymer composites.

The electrochemical stability window(ESW) is crucial for determining the energy density of electric double-layer capacitors(EDLCs). However, current ESW testing protocols of EDLCs are strongly affected by artificial factors, thereby leading to unreliable result. To solve this problem, we first identify the key shortcomings of the traditional protocols by analyzing their test principles. Subsequently, taking an aqueous carbon-based EDLC as an example, we design a side reaction descriptor to represent the response difference in the charging capacitance to side reactions between the cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic chargedischarge methods. With the aid of this descriptor, we propose a new ESW testing protocol, which is not only able to completely avoid the adverse influence of subjective factors but also fully consider the operating condition limitations. The protocol can be extended from the single electrode to the full device. This work proposes a more rigorous definition of ESW and provides a reliable protocol for evaluating the ESW of EDLCs.

Bone tissue renewal can be enhanced through co-transplantation of bone mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs)and vascular endothelial cells(ECs).However,there are apparent limitations in stem cell-based therapy which hinder its clinic ***,we investigated the potential of alternative stem cell substitutes for facilitating bone *** this study,we successfully prepared cell membrane vesicles(CMVs)from BMSCs and *** results showed that BMSC-derived cell membrane vesicles(BMSC-CMVs)possessed membrane receptors involved in juxtacrine signaling and growth factors derived from their parental ***-derived cell membrane vesicles(EC-CMVs)also contained BMP2 and VEGF derived from their parental ***-CMVs enhanced tube formation and migration ability of hUVECs,while EC-CMVs promoted the osteogenic differentiation of hBMSCs in *** a rat skull defect model,we found that co-transplantation of BMSC-CMVs and EC-CMVs could stimulate angiogenesis and bone formation in ***,our research might provide an innovative and feasible approach for cell-free therapy in bone tissue regeneration.

Feasibility of laparoscopic total gastrectomy in overweight patients: Implications of less impact of overweight on laparoscopic versus open approach

AIM To investigate safety and oncological feasibility of laparoscopic total gastrectomy(LTG) in overweight(OW) *** Patients who underwent total gastrectomy(110 laparoscopic, 211 open) for gastric cancer between January 1999 and July 2016 were included. Propensity score matching selected 152 patients(76 laparoscopic, 76 open), which were subsequently divided into the OW(≥ 25) or non-OW(< 25) group by body mass index. Postoperative outcomes of laparoscopic versus open approaches were compared between OW and non-OW groups. RESULTS In the propensity-matched population, baseline characteristics were comparable between the OW and nonOW groups for the laparoscopy and open groups. In the laparoscopy group, operative time was longer(P = 0.01) in the OW group, however, other perioperative results including complication rates were comparable between the non-OW and OW groups. In the open group, number of retrieved lymph nodes were less(P = 0.03) and local complication rate was more frequent(P = 0.03) in the OW group. CONCLUSION LTG in OW patients remains technically challenging but can be performed safely. Our findings imply that OW has a lesser effect on the laparoscopic versus open approach to total gastrectomy.

A new inorganic-organic hybrid constructed from biisoquinoline dication and tin halide, [（BIQBT）（Sn Cl6）]n（1, BIQBT = 1,4-bis（isoquinoline） butane）, has been synthesized and structurally determined by X-ray diffraction method. 1 crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group Cc with Mr = 644.82, a = 16.589（3）, b = 18.388（4）, c = 8.5532（17）A, β = 108.75（3）°, V = 2470.6（9） A3, Z = 4, Dc = 1.736 g/cm^3, F（000） = 1281, μ（Mo Kα） = 1.697 mm^–1, the final R = 0.0197 and wR = 0.0493 for 4614 observed reflections with I 〉 2（I）. 1 consists of BIQBT^2＋dications and mononuclear hexachloridostannate Sn Cl62- anion, and hydrogen bonds among them contribute to the formation of a 1-D chain. Strong fluorescence can be detected in 1, which was explained by theoretical calculation. Its electrochemical behavior was investigated, and the theoretical calculations reveal that the π···π stacking interaction is dominated for their structural stabilization.

Determination of paraquat in water samples using a sensitive fluorescent probe titration method

Paraquat （PQ）, a nonselective herbicide, is non-fluorescent in aqueous solutions. Thus, its determination through direct fluorescent methods is not feasible. The supramolecular inclusion interaction of PQ with cucurbit[7]uril was studied by a fluorescent probe titration method. Significant quenching of the fluorescence intensity of the cucurbit[7]uril-coptisine fluorescent probe was observed with the addition of PQ. A new fluorescent probe titration method with high selectivity and sensitivity at the ng/mL level was developed to determine PQ in aqueous solutions with good precision and accuracy based on the significant quenching of the supramolecular complex fluorescence intensity. The proposed method was successfully used in the determination of PQ in lake water, tap water, well water, and ditch water in an agricultural area, with recoveries of 96.73% to 105.77%. The fluorescence quenching values （AF） showed a good linear relationship with PQ concentrations from 1.0 × 10^-8 to 1.2× 10^-5 mol/L with a detection limit of 3.35 x 10-9 mol/L. In addition, the interaction models of the supramolecular complexes formed between the host and the guest were established using theoretical calculations. The interaction mechanism between the cucurbit[7]uril and PQ was confirmed by 1H NMR spectroscopy.

Atom lithography with chromium can be utilized to fabricate a pitch standard, which is chrectly traceable to me wavelength of the laser standing waves. The result of a calibrated commercial AFM measurement demonstrates that the pitch standard is （212.8±0.1） nm with a peak-to-valley-height （PTVH） better than 20 nm. The measurement results show the high period accuracy of traceability with the standing laser wavelength （λ/2 = 212.78 nm）. The Cr nano-grating covers a 1000μm×500 μm area, with a PTVH better than 10 nm. The feature width broadening of the Cr nanostructure has been experimentally observed along the direction of the standing waves. The PTVH along the Gaussian laser direction is similar to a Gaussian distribution. Highly uniform periodic nanostructures with a big area at the millimeter scale, and the surface growth uniformity of the Cr nano-grating, show its great potential in the application of a traceable pitch standard at trans-scales.

Oral clefts, the most frequent congenital birth defects in humans, are multifactorial disorders caused by genetic and environmental factors. Epidemiological studies point to different etiologies underlying the oral cleft phenotypes, cleft lip(CL),CL and/or palate(CL/P) and cleft palate(CP). More than 350 genes have syndromic and/or nonsyndromic oral cleft associations in humans. Although genes related to genetic disorders associated with oral cleft phenotypes are known, a gap between detecting these associations and interpretation of their biological importance has remained. Here, using a gene ontology analysis approach, we grouped these candidate genes on the basis of different functional categories to gain insight into the genetic etiology of oral clefts. We identified different genetic profiles and found correlations between the functions of gene products and oral cleft phenotypes. Our results indicate inherent differences in the genetic etiologies that underlie oral cleft phenotypes and support epidemiological evidence that genes associated with CL/P are both developmentally and genetically different from CP only, incomplete CP, and submucous CP. The epidemiological differences among cleft phenotypes may reflect differences in the underlying genetic causes. Understanding the different causative etiologies of oral clefts is important as it may lead to improvements in diagnosis, counseling, and prevention.

A comparative study of autogenous, allograft and artificial bone substitutes on bone regeneration and immunotoxicity in rat femur defect model

Repair and reconstruction of large bone defect were often difficult,and bone substitute materials,including autogenous bone,allogenic bone and artificial bone,were common treatment *** key to elucidate the clinical effect of these bone repair materials was to study their osteogenic capacity and immunotoxicological *** this paper,the mechanical properties,micro-CT imaging analysis,digital image analysis and histological slice analysis of the three bone grafts were investigated and compared after different time points of implantation in rat femur defect *** bone and biphasic calcium phosphate particular artificial bone containing 61.4% HA and 38.6%β-tricalcium phosphate with 61.64%porosity and 0.8617±0.0068 g/cm^(3) den-sity(d≤2 mm)had similar and strong bone repair ability,but autogenous bone implant materials caused greater secondary damage to experimental animals;allogenic bone exhibited poor bone defect repair *** the early stage of implantation,the immunological indexes such as Immunoglobulin G,Immunoglobulin M concentration and CD4 cells'population of allogenic bone significantly increased in compared with those of autologous bone and artificial *** the repair process of artificial bone was relatively inefficient than autologous bone graft,the low immunotoxicological indexes and acceptable therapeutic effects endowed it as an excellent alter-native material to solve the problems with insufficient source and secondary trauma of autogenous bone.
