An enriched goal-oriented error estimation method with extended degrees of freedom is developed to estimate the error in the continuum-based shell extended finite element method. It leads to high quality local error bounds in three-dimensional fracture mechanics simulation which involves enrichments to solve the singularity in crack tip. This enriched goal-oriented error estimation gives a chance to evaluate this continuum- based shell extended finite element method simulation. With comparisons of reliability to the stress intensity factor calculation in stretching and bending, the accuracy of the continuum-based shell extended finite element method simulation is evaluated, and the reason of error is discussed.

Promotion of angiogenesis in tissue engineering is of vital significance to the survival of transplants,which leads the way of tissue *** this study,we screened six short peptides with potentially angiogenic activities to functionalize self-assembling peptide nanofiber scaffolds RADA16-I(Ac-(RADA)4-CONH2).Fluorescence microscopy images of endothelial cells morphology on peptide scaffolds exhibited good cell attachments and Survivals on these six functionalized peptide scaffolds, especially on peptide scaffolds RAD/KLT and RAD/*** proliferation examination also confirmed the excellent cell growth on these two functionalized peptide *** peptide motifs KLT(KLTWQELYQLKYKGI) and PRG(PRGDSGYRGDS) had positive effects on endothelial cell survival and growth,which implied that these two peptides might have great promise for promoting angiogenesis in vitro and in vivo.

Pollution has become an unavoidable concern as China’s high-quality development is *** to reduce pollution is an imperative issue for China to *** emissions are closely related to factor inputs,production processes and pollution control *** there other forces to cut emissions besides regulatory control?Taking sulfur dioxide as an example,this paper probes into the potential mechanism through which technical efficiency drives pollution reduction in the context of opening to foreign *** results reveal that the openness to foreign investment remarkably lowers pollution emissions of fi rms,with SOEs,large fi rms and exporters seeing more pronounced pollution reduction eff ect after opening to foreign investment,while fi rms in pollution-intensive industries and less regulated areas are weaker in pollution reduction.A look into fi rm behavior suggests that the openness to foreign investment reduces pollutant emissions by improving technical efficiency rather than by raising investment in pollution *** pollution reduction eff ect resulting from the openness is refl ected in the improvement of intra-fi rm emission reduction capacity instead of inter-fi rm resource reallocation eff ect,according to an analysis at the aggregate *** paper concludes that technical efficiency gains are an important tool to advance pollution reduction,and that China must be more flexible in leveraging the pollution reduction effect of other policies regarding technical effi ciency to drive its high-quality development that is green.

An investigation is made of the influence of an accumulated charge sprinkled on the surface of an epoxy resin plate in corona mode on partial discharge inception and its forms as analyzed by optical imaging at DC *** effects of the polarities of both the deposited hetero-and homocharges were *** occurrence of first streamer discharges was detected electrically and observed by optical *** various forms of streamers were acquired by optical imaging and associated with the polarity and intensity of the accumulated surface *** charge sprinkling on the epoxy specimen surface was quantitatively evaluated by surface charge *** addition,the effect of the subsequent discharges occurring in a heterocharge configu-ration above the inception voltage was *** terms of their directions and lengths,the kinetics of the streamer filaments revealed a strong dependence on both the polarity and the intensity of an accumulated *** with the reference charge-free surface,the strongest drop in dielectric strength in the interelectrode space with a sprinkled charge was obtained for the heterocharge *** presented results provide a contribution to the assessment of streamer behaviour in the presence of accumulated surface charges,including its polarity and intensity.

The traditional“three defense lines”for power systems are based on local information and static protection&control strategy,which are not suitable to modern large-scale power *** order to improve the security of UHV hybrid power grids,the Integrated Wide Area Protection&Control(IWAPC)is proposed in this paper by applying the new technologies of synchronized high-speed communication,which integrates“three defense lines”and promotes existing wide area protection only for security *** IWAPC is the hierarchical protection and control system which provides the protection and control for wide area power networks to improve their reliability and *** is divided into three levels,the local bay level,the substation integrated protection level and the wide area protection *** wide area real-time protection and control information platform is the most important part of the IWAPC,which is based on a synchronized wide area communication *** key technologies and new development trends include network topology analysis,wide area backup protection,wide area intelligent reclosing,wide area load shedding,wide area auto-switching,overload cutoff and transfer,transmission section protection,intelligent system splitting and dynamic stability *** cannot only integrate three lines of defense for power system protection and control,but also improve security of the power grid.

To determine cancer pathway activities in nine types of primary tumors and NCI60 cell lines, we applied an in silico approach by examining gene signatures reflective of consequent pathway activation using gene expression data. Supervised learning approaches predicted that the Ras pathway is active in -70% of lung adenocarcinomas but inactive in most squamous cell carcinomas, pulmonary carcinoids, and small cell lung carcinomas. In contrast, the TGF-β, TNF-α, Src, Myc, E2F3, and β-catenin pathways are inactive in lung adenocarcinomas. We predicted an active Ras, Myc, Src, and/or E2F3 pathway in significant percentages of breast cancer, colorectal carcinoma, and gliomas. Our results also suggest that Ras may be the most prevailing oncogenic pathway. Additionally, many NCI60 cell lines exhibited a gene signature indicative of an active Ras, Myc, and/or Src, but not E2F3, β-catenin, TNF-α, or TGF-β pathway. To our knowledge, this is the first comprehensive survey of cancer pathway activities in nine major tumor types and the most widely used NCI60 cell lines. The ＂gene expression pathway signatures＂ we have defined could facilitate the understanding of molecular mechanisms in cancer development and provide guidance to the selection of appropriate cell lines for cancer research and pharmaceutical compound screening.

Change point detection becomes increasingly important because it can support data analysis by providing labels to the data in an unsupervised *** the context of process data analytics,change points in the time series of process variables may have an important indication about the process *** example,in a batch process,the change points can correspond to the operations and phases defined by the batch *** identifying change points can assist labelling the time series *** unsupervised algorithms have been developed for change point detection,including the optimisation approachwhich minimises a cost functionwith certain penalties to search for the change *** Bayesian approach is another,which uses Bayesian statistics to calculate the posterior probability of a specific sample being a change *** paper investigates how the two approaches for change point detection can be applied to process data *** addition,a new type of cost function using Tikhonov regularisation is proposed for the optimisation approach to reduce irrelevant change points caused by randomness in the *** novelty lies in using regularisation-based cost functions to handle ill-posed problems of noisy *** results demonstrate that change point detection is useful for process data analytics because change points can produce data segments corresponding to different operating modes or varying conditions,which will be useful for other machine learning tasks.

This paper regards the uncredited value-added tax(VAT)refund policy promulgated in 2018 as an exogenous shock to improve the neutrality for *** on the statistics of listed companies in the non-financial sectors from 2013 to 2020,this paper applies the difference-in-differences(DID)approach to study the impact of the uncredited VAT refund policy on corporate cash *** study finds that the policy has eased the impact of non-tax-neutral impact of non-refundable tax credits and lowered the level of corporate cash ***,the analysis of capital sources verified that the policy has optimized the corporate capital *** findings have proved to be robust after a series of *** the level of cross-sectional differences,the uncredited VAT refund policy exerts both"resource effect"and"signal effect",enabling companies to reduce cash holdings in the dimensions of both tax endowment and market *** the level of policy effects,the policy improved the corporate behavior of high cash holdings for the production and operation cycle,with more notable impact on enterprises with higher tax credit *** the level of economic consequences,the adjustment of corporate cash holdings induced by uncredited VAT refund policy has significantly improved operating performance and reduced performance volatility,with a greater impact on enterprises with high capital *** research findings evaluate the uncredited VAT refund policy from the perspective of tax neutrality,laying a theoretical foundation for further optimizing the uncredited VAT refund policy and the modern fiscal,tax and financial systems.
