OBJECTIVE:To investigate the underlying mechanism of Bailian (Radix Ampelopsis Japonicae,BL) extract action on colorectal cancer (CRC).METHODS:We explored the involvement of β-catenin signaling on the anti-CRC effects of an BL ethanolic extract (BLE) in cell models by using the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide assay,immunofluorescent staining,luciferase assay,Western blot analysis and real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction ***-CRC compounds were quantified by high performance liquid ***:The contents of gallic acid,catechin,and epicatechin in the BLE were 0.23,1.25,and 0.18 g/kg,***-mediated cytotoxic and apoptotic effects were accompanied by lowered β-catenin/Tcf transcriptional activity,reduced β-catenin nuclear localization,and downregulated protein and mRNA levels of both β-catenin and molecules regulated by β-***:The mechanism underpinning the anti-CRC effects of BLE may involve inhibition of β-catenin *** studies are necessary to establish the role of β-catenin signaling in the action of BLE-mediated anti-CRC effects.

In the past century, as medical research has become increasingly precise, it has become clear that the incidence and progression of many diseases involve multiple factors and pathologies; this is particularly true for the degenerative and metabolic diseases facing industrialized societies. At the same time, it becomes increasingly clear that single-target action drugs cannot effectively treat these diseases. researchers are looking toward the chemical industry as well as traditional herbal medicines to find multi-target interventions. Thus, a new era in drug discovery has begun. Specifically, three approaches have proven effective in seeking multi-target drugs. These are：（1） designing drugs with multiple components; （2） discovering drugs through the study of synergistic compound-compound interactions in medicinal herbs or among chemical drugs and herbal components; and （3） developing drugs to tackle complex multi-component diseases. The authors conclude that there is an increasing need for multi-component remedies to treat the complex chronic diseases afflicting modern populations. Given this situation and the growing body of evidence that these new approaches are effective, multi-target intervention appears to have great potential for discovering, designing, and developing effective new drugs for today＇s diseases.

Cancer occurrence and development are closely related to increased lipid produc-tion and glucose *** are the basic component of the cell membrane and play a significant role in cancer cell processes such as cell-to-cell recognition,signal transduction,and energy supply,which are vital for cancer cell rapid proliferation,invasion,and *** regulatory element-binding transcription factor 1(SREBP1)is a key transcription factor regulating the expression of genes related to cholesterol biosynthesis,lipid homeostasis,and fatty acid *** addition,SREBP1 and its upstream or downstream target genes are implicated in various metabolic diseases,particularly ***,no review of sREBP1 in cancer biology has yet been ***,we summarized the roles and mechanisms of SREBP1 biological processes in cancer cells,including SREBP1 modification,lipid metabolism and reprogramming,glucose and mitochondrial metabolism,immunity,and tumor microenvi-ronment,epithelial-mesenchymal transition,cell cycle,apoptosis,and ***-ally,we discussed the potential role of SREBP1 in cancer prognosis,drug response such as drug sensitivity to chemotherapy and radiotherapy,and the potential drugs targeting SREBP1 and its corresponding pathway,elucidating the potential clinical application based on SREBP1 and its corresponding signal pathway.

Objective:Astragalus Radix(AR,Huangqi in chinese) has been widely used as a qi(energy) restoring herb that is thought to act through reinvigorating the spleen and *** is used to rebalance the body temperature during illness and played an irreplaceable role in disease control since ancient times,but it is limited by its strong neuro and *** the Song Dynasty(1227),the two herbs have been commonly used as herbal pairs including in the famous Qifu Decotion,from the "Wei's Family Prescription".However,many ancient texts also record that they are not compatible using together,suggesting they can have negative outcomes when *** study investigated whether Astragali Radix had either positive or negative effects on absorption of six different active alkaloids derived from ***:Single intestinal perfusion model was used to study the effects of Astragali Radix on aconite alkaloids *** of ABC transporters and distribution of three tight junction proteins on the surface of intestinal enothelium were assessed by Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction(RT-PCR),Western blot and immunofluorescence microscopy,***:The results showed that aconite alkaloids absorption could be inhibited,and different concentrations of Astragali Radix considerably increased the expression levels of the ABC transporters and tight junction proteins with Astragali Radix ***:These results suggest that Astragali Radix can block absorption of aconite alkaloids through the upregulation expression of ATP-binding cassette transporters(ABC transporters) and tight junction *** demonstrates that co-administration of Astragali Radix with other drugs might change the absorption profile of the second drug which is important to know in clinic therapy.

Isatis indigotica Fort.(Ban-Lan-Gen)is an herbal medicine prescribed for influenza ***,its active components and mode of action remain mostly *** the present study,erucic acid was isolated from Isatis indigotica Fort.,and subsequently its underlying mechanism against influenza A virus(IAV)infection was investigated in vitro and in *** results demonstrated that erucic acid exhibited broad-spectrum antiviral activity against IAV resulting from reduction of viral polymerase transcription *** acid was found to exert inhibitory effects on IAV or viral(v)RNA-induced pro-inflam-matory mediators as well as interferons(IFNs).The molecular mechanism by which erucic acid with antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties was attributed to inactivation of NF-kB and p38 MAPK ***,the NF-kB and p38 MAPK inhibitory effect of erucic acid led to diminishing the transcriptional activity of interferon-stimulated gene factor 3(ISGF-3),and thereby reducing IAV-triggered pro-inflammatory response amplification in IFN-β-sensitized ***,IAV-or vRNA-triggered apoptosis of alveolar epithelial A549 cells was prevented by erucic *** vivo,erucic acid administration consistently displayed decreased lung viral load and viral antigens ***,erucic acid markedly reduced CD8+cytotoxic T lymphocyte(CTL)recruitment,pro-apoptotic signaling,hyperactivity of multiple signaling pathways,and exacerbated immune inflammation in the lung,which resulted in decreased lung injury and mortality in mice with a mouse-adapted A/FM/1/47-MA(H1N1)strain *** findings provided a mechanistic basis for the action of erucic acid against IAV-mediated inflammation and injury,suggesting that erucic acid may have a therapeutic potential in the treatment of influenza.

It is crucial to understand the glucose control within our ***/metabolic surgeries,including laparoscopic sleeve gastrec-tomy(LSG)and Roux-en-Y gastric bypass(RYGB),provide an avenue for exploring the potential key factors involved in maintaining glucose homeostasis since these surgeries have shown promising results in improving glycemic control among patients with severe type 2 diabetes(T2D).For the first time,a markedly altered population of serum proteins in patients after LSG was discovered and analyzed through *** A-IV(apoA-IV)was revealed to be increased dramatically in diabetic obese patients following LSG,and a similar effect was observed in patients after RYGB ***,recombinant apoA-IV protein treatment was proven to enhance insulin secretion in isolated human *** results showed that apoA-IV may play a crucial role in gly-cemic control in humans,potentially through enhancing insulin secretion in human ***-IV was further shown to enhance energy expenditure and improve glucose tolerance in diabetic rodents,through stimulating glucose-dependent insulin secretion in pancreaticβcells,partially via Gαs-coupled GPCR/cAMP(G protein-coupled receptor/cyclic adenosine monophosphate)***,T55-121,truncated peptide 55-121 of apoA-IV,was discovered to mediate the function of *** collective findings contribute to our understanding of the relationship between apoA-IV and glycemic control,highlighting its potential as a biomarker or therapeutic target in managing and improving glucose regulation.
