In this paper, an HIV-1 infection model with intracellular delay, humoral immunity and immune impairment is investigated, in which both virus-to-cell infection and cell-to-cell transmission are considered.The basic reproduction ratio is calculated and the existence of feasible equilibria is established. By analyzing the distributions of roots of the corresponding characteristic equations, the local asymptotic stability of each of feasible equilibria is established. With the help of appropriate Lyapunov functionals and LaSalle’s invariance principle, it is proved that if the basic reproduction ratio is less than unity, the infection-free equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable, and the virus is eventually eliminated; if the basic reproduction ratio is greater than unity, the chronic-infection equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable. Finally, numerical simulations are carried out to illustrate the effects of some parameters on HIV-1 infection dynamics.

This article focuses on dynamic event-triggered mechanism(DETM)-based model predictive control(MPC) for T-S fuzzy systems.A hybrid dynamic variables-dependent DETM is carefully devised,which includes a multiplicative dynamic variable and an additive dynamic variable.The addressed DETM-based fuzzy MPC issue is described as a “min-max” optimization problem(OP).To facilitate the co-design of the MPC controller and the weighting matrix of the DETM,an auxiliary OP is proposed based on a new Lyapunov function and a new robust positive invariant(RPI) set that contain the membership functions and the hybrid dynamic variables.A dynamic event-triggered fuzzy MPC algorithm is developed accordingly,whose recursive feasibility is analysed by employing the RPI set.With the designed controller,the involved fuzzy system is ensured to be asymptotically stable.Two examples show that the new DETM and DETM-based MPC algorithm have the advantages of reducing resource consumption while yielding the anticipated performance.

Considering that HBV belongs to the DNA virus family and is hepatotropic,we model the HBV DNA-containing capsids as a compartment.In this paper,a delayed HBV infection model is established,where the general incidence function and two infection routes including cell-virus infection and cell-cell infection are introduced.According to some preliminaries,including well-posedness,basic reproduction number and existence of two equilibria,we obtain the threshold dynamics for the model.We illustrate numerical simulations to verify the above theoretical results,and furthermore explore the impacts of intracellular delay and cell-cell infection on the global dynamics of the model.

Detection in high fidelity of tipping points,the emergence of which is often induced by invisible changes in internal structures or/and external interferences,is paramountly beneficial to understanding and predicting complex dynamical systems(CDSs).Detection approaches,which have been fruitfully developed from several perspectives(e.g.,statistics,dynamics,and machine learning),have their own advantages but still encounter difficulties in the face of high-dimensional,fluctuating datasets.Here,using the reservoir computing(RC),a recently notable,resource-conserving machine learning method for reconstructing and predicting CDSs,we articulate a model-free framework to accomplish the detection only using the time series observationally recorded from the underlying unknown CDSs.

In a recent article published in Cancer Discovery,Guirguis et al.demonstrated that enzymatic inhibitors of the m6 A methyltransferase METTL3 induced a formation of immunostimulatory doublestranded mRNAs(dsRNAs)in cancer cells,which triggered a profound tumor-cell-intrinsic interferon response leading to an enhanced antigen presentation and thereby increased killing of tumor cells by cytotoxic CD8+T-lymphocytes.The inhibition of METTL3 synergized with anti-PD1 immunotherapy,highlighting its potential for improving cancer treatment.

The safety and durability of lithium-ion batteries under mechanical constraints depend significantly on electrochemical, thermal, and mechanical fields in applications. Characterizing and quantifying the multi-field coupling behaviors requires interdisciplinary efforts. Here, we design experiments under mechanical constraints and introduce an in-situ analytical framework to clarify the complex interaction mechanisms and coupling degrees among multi-physics fields. The proposed analytical framework integrates the parameterization of equivalent models, in-situ mechanical analysis, and quantitative assessment of coupling behavior. The results indicate that the significant impact of pressure on impedance at low temperatures results from the diffusion-controlled step, enhancing kinetics when external pressure, like 180 to 240 k Pa at 10 °C, is applied. The diversity in control steps for the electrochemical reaction accounts for the varying impact of pressure on battery performance across different temperatures. The thermal expansion rate suggests that the swelling force varies by less than 1.60% per unit of elevated temperature during the lithiation process. By introducing a composite metric, we quantify the coupling correlation and intensity between characteristic parameters and physical fields, uncovering the highest coupling degree in electrochemical-thermal fields. These results underscore the potential of analytical approaches in revealing the mechanisms of interaction among multi-fields, with the goal of enhancing battery performance and advancing battery management.

Leukemia is a malignancy in the blood that develops from the lymphatic system and bone marrow.Although various treatment options have been used for different types of leukemia,understanding the molecular pathways involved in the development and progression of leukemia is necessary.Recent studies showed that leukemia stem cells(LSCs)play essential roles in the pathogenesis of leukemia by targeting several signaling pathways,including Notch,Wnt,Hedgehog,and STAT3.LSCs are highly proliferative cells that stimulate tumor initiation,migration,EMT,and drug resistance.This review summarizes cellular pathways that stimulate and prevent LSCs'self-renewal,metastasis,and tumorigenesis.

AIM:To review recent innovations,challenges,and applications of small incision lenticule extraction(SMILE)extracted lenticule for treating ocular disorders.METHODS:A literature review was performed in the PubMed database,which was last updated on 30 December 2021.There was no limit regarding language.The authors evaluated the reference lists of the collected papers to find any relevant research.RESULTS:Due to the simplicity and accuracy of modern femtosecond lasers and the extensive development of SMILE surgery,many healthy human corneal stromal lenticules were extracted during surgery,motivating some professionals to investigate the SMILE lenticule reusability in different ocular disorders.In addition,new approaches had been developed to preserve,modify,and bioengineer the corneal stroma,leading to the optimal use of discarded byproducts such as lenticules from SMILE surgery.The lenticules can be effectively re-implanted into the autologous or allogenic corneas of human subjects to treat refractive errors,corneal ectasia,and corneal perforation and serve as a patch graft for glaucoma drainage devices with better cosmetic outcomes.CONCLUSION:SMILE-extracted lenticules could be a viable alternative to human donor corneal tissue.
