The occurrence of massif-type anorthosite intrusions is a widespread Proterozoic *** are usually associated with gabbroic,charnockitic,and granitic rocks,comprising the so-called anorthositemangerite-charnockite-granite(AMCG)*** these rocks have been extensively studied worldwide,several aspects concerning their formation remain *** them,the magma source and the tectonic setting are the most *** evaluate these issues,we first compiled geochemical and isotopic data of Proterozoic anorthosite massifs and AMCG suites worldwide and stored it in a database named *** plethora of data allows us to make some important *** argue that the wide-ranging multi-isotopic composition of this group of rocks reflects varying proportions of juvenile mantle-derived melts and crustal *** interpret that the precursor magmas of most massive anorthosite bodies and associated mafic rocks have a mantle-dominated ***,we highlight that a crustal component is indispensable to generate these *** variable amounts of this material during succeeding multi-stage assimilation-fractional crystallization(AFC)processes gives these intrusions their typical mantle-crustal hybrid isotopic *** contrast,a crustaldominant origin with a complementary mantle component is interpreted for most MCG *** summary,the isotopic information in datAMCG indicates that both sources are necessary to generate AMCG ***,we suggest that hybridized magmas with different mantle-crust proportions originate these *** interpretation might offer a more nuanced and accurate depiction of this phenomenon in future work instead of choosing a single-sourced model as in the past ***,tectonomagmatic diagrams suggest that the rocks under study were likely generated in a tectonic environment that transitioned between collision and post-collisional extension,sometimes involving subduction-modified ma

Analysis of soil management and water conservation practices adoption among crop and pasture farmers in humid-south of the United States

Nutrient management, water quality protection, and irrigation efficiency top the list of on-farm resource concerns indicating a need to address them through conservation strategies. A suite of Best Management Practices (BMPs) has been identified and recommended, through several outlets, to farmers to ameliorate these concerns. This research examines the adoption of strategies that ameliorate the resource concerns as a joint decision, using a bivariate model. Data from the 2016 Nutrient Management Survey, conducted by the Louisiana Master Farmer Program, are used to examine the factors affecting adoption of these conservation practices. A bivariate probit regression found significant results for explanatory variables and emphasize the effect of perception regarding the role of on-farm practices, ownership of land, participation in conservation programs in the past, and producers educational attainment on the like-lihood of adopting the conservation practices. Implications for policy development and educational programs are discussed.

Global dynamics of an age-structured viral infection model with general incidence function and absorption

In this paper, we propose an age-structured viral infection model with general incidence function that takes account of the loss of viral particles due to their absorption into susceptible cells. The proposed model is described by partial differential and ordinary differential equations. We first show that the model is mathematically and biologically well-posed. Furthermore, the uniform persistence and the global behavior of the model are investigated. Moreover, the age-structured models and results presented in many previous studies are improved and generalized.

BACKGROUND:Hypertriglyceridemia is an unusual cause of acute pancreatitis and sometimes considered to be an *** study aimed to investigate the clinical and analytical features and the APOE genotypes in patients with acute pancreatitis and severe ***:We undertook a one-year,prospective study of patients with acute pancreatitis whose first laboratory analysis on admission to the emergency department included measurement of serum *** APOE genotype was determined and the patients answered an established questionnaire within the first 24 hours concerning their alcohol consumption,the presence of co-morbidities and any medications being *** patients’ progression,etiological diagnosis,hospital stay and clinical and radiological severity were all ***:Hypertriglyceridemia was responsible for 7 of 133 cases of pancreatitis (5%);the remaining cases were of biliary (53%),idiopathic (26%),alcoholic (11%) or other (5%) *** with these remaining cases,the patients with hypertriglyceridemia were significantly younger,had more relapses,and more often had diabetes *** usually consumed alcohol or consumed it excessively on the days before ***,the ε4 allele of the APOE gene was more common in this group (Pdes of acute pancreatitis is caused by hypertriglyceridemia and it is linked to genetic (ε4 allele) and comorbid factors such as diabetes and,especially,alcohol consumption.

Buckthorns(Glossy buckthorn,Frangula alnus and common buckthorn,Rhamnus cathartica)represent a threat to *** high competitivity lead to the replacement of native species and the inhibition of forest *** detection strategies are therefore necessary to limit invasive alien plant species’impacts,and remote sensing is one of the techniques for early invasion *** studies have used phenological remote sensing approaches to map buckthorn distribution from medium spatial resolution *** studies highlighted the difficulty of detecting buckthorns in low densities and in understory using this category of *** main objective of this study was to develop an approach using multi-date very high spatial resolution satellite imagery to map buckthorns in low densities and in the understory in the Québec city *** machine learning classifiers(Support Vector Machines,Random Forest and Extreme Gradient Boosting)were applied to WorldView-3,GeoEye-1 and SPOT-7 satellite *** Random Forest classifier performed well(Kappa=0.72).The SVM and XGBoost’s coefficient Kappa were 0.69 and 0.66,***,buckthorn distribution in understory was identified as the main limit to this approach,and LiDAR data could be used to improve buckthorn mapping in similar environments.

Pilot trial evaluating maternal docosahexaenoic acid consumption during pregnancy: decreased postpartum depressive symptomatology

Objective:Docosahexaenoic acid(DHA,22:6,n-3)is a major structural component of neural tissue critical to neurotransmission and mood *** maternal dietary intake coupled with accelerated maternal-fetal transfer of DHA compound risk for maternal *** objective of this investigation was to determine if maternal DHA supplementation is efficacious in reducing symptoms of postpartum ***:This pilot investigation was a randomized,double-blinded,placebo controlled investigation of the role of DHA in preventing risk for postpartum *** were assigned to:i)Placebo(no DHA,corn oil capsule),ii)DHA(300 mg DHA,fish oil capsule).Capsules were consumed from 24 to 40 weeks gestation(1 capsule 5 days/week).Forty-two participants were recruited(n=20,intervention;n=22,placebo).Maternal DHA status and depressive symptoms were followed from 24 to 40 weeks gestation using the Center for Epidemiologic Studies depression Scale(CES-D)and the Postpartum depression Screening Scale(PDSS)from 2 weeks to 6 months ***:PDSS total scores were significantly lower(p=0.016;46.03±2.17,intervention vs.52.11±2.4,placebo)in the intervention group with less anxiety/insecurity(p=0.03),emotional lability(p=0.04)and loss of self(p=0.02).Conclusions:Women in the DHA intervention group had fewer symptoms of postpartum depression compared to the placebo *** results support the notion that the consumption of DHA by pregnant women can be efficacious in preventing depressive symptoms and highlight a need for further larger-scale investigations using the PDSS in tandem with a diagnostic evaluation.

A new ephemeris,period change analysis and light curve modeling of the W UMa-type eclipsing binary BF Pav are presented in this *** curves of the system taken in BVRI filters from two observatories,in Australia and Argentina,were modeled using the Wilson-devinney *** results of this analysis demonstrate that BF Pav is a contact binary system with a photometric mass ratio q=1.460 ± 0.014,a fillout factor f=12.5%,an inclination of 87.97 ± 0.45 deg and a cold spot on the secondary *** applying the distance modulus formula,the distance of BF Pav was calculated to be d=268 ± 18 pc which is in good agreement with the Gaia EDR3 *** obtain an orbital period increase at a rate of 0.142 s century-1 due to a quadratic trend in the O-C ***,an alternative sudden period jump probably occurred which could be interpreted as a rapid mass transfer from the lower mass star to its companion of about ΔM=2.45 × 10-6 M⊙.Furthermore,there is an oscillatory behavior with a period of 18.3±0.3 *** BF Pav does not seem to have significant magnetic activity,this behavior could be interpreted as the light-time effect caused by an undetected third body in this *** this case,the probability for the third body to be a low mass star with M≥ 0.075 M⊙or a brown dwarf is 5.4% and 94.6% *** we assume i’=90°,a3=8.04±0.33 *** mass of the secondary component was also determined following two different methods which result close to each other.

Comparison and analysis of the efficacy of drug therapy for liver cancer

Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is a poor prognosis tumor when not accessible to potentially curative treatments such as surgical resection,thermal ablations or liver *** cytotoxic chemotherapies have shown inconsistent clinical *** 2007,sorafenib,a tyrosine kinase inhibitor(TKI),was the first systemic therapy able to significantly improve the outcome of HCC patients non-eligible for curative or loco-regional therapies,despite a modest tolerance and low tumor objective response rate(ORR).Among the newer TKIs approved after 2017,lenvatinib was the first to show a striking ORR and demonstrate non-inferiority *** in the first-line ***,phase 3 trials showed the benefit of other TKIs,regorafenib and cabozantinib,and the anti-angiogenic ramucirumab monoclonal antibody,in systemic second-line *** checkpoint inhibitors targeting PD1,achieved striking tumor shrinkage in some patients in monotherapy,seeming to be associated with exciting ***,this occurred in too few patients to improve the median overall *** recently,the combination of anti-angiogenic drugs targeting the liver microenvironment with PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors,such as the combination of bevacizumab and atezolizumab,proved to be substantially effective in phase 3,and other combinations of PD-1/PD-L1 and CTla-4 inhibitors or TKIs have raised a lot of hopes for the systemic treatment of HCC.
