Probabilistic Assessment of Constitutive Model Parameters: Insight from a Statistical Damage Constitutive Model and a Simple Critical State Hypoplastic Model

The constitutive model is essential for predicting the deformation and stability of rocksoil mass. The estimation of constitutive model parameters is a necessary and important task for the reliable characterization of mechanical behaviors. However, constitutive model parameters cannot be evaluated accurately with a limited amount of test data, resulting in uncertainty in the prediction of stress-strain curves. This paper proposes a Bayesian analysis framework to address this issue. It combines the Bayesian updating with the structural reliability and adaptive conditional sampling methods to assess the equation parameter of constitutive models. Based on the triaxial and ring shear tests on shear zone soils from the Huangtupo landslide, a statistical damage constitutive model and a critical state hypoplastic constitutive model were used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed framework. Moreover, the parameter uncertainty effects of the damage constitutive model on landslide stability were investigated. Results show that reasonable assessments of the constitutive model parameter can be well realized. The variability of stress-strain curves is strongly related to the model prediction performance. The estimation uncertainty of constitutive model parameters should not be ignored for the landslide stability calculation. Our study provides a reference for uncertainty analysis and parameter assessment of the constitutive model.

Deformation tests and failure process analysis of an anchorage structure

In order to study the failure process of an anchorage structure and the evolution law of the body’s deformation field,anchor push-out tests were carried out based on digital speckle correlation methods(DSCM).The stress distribution of the anchorage interface was investigated using the particle flow numerical simulation *** results indicate that there are three stages in the deformation and failure process of an anchorage structure:elastic bonding stage,a de-bonding stage and a failure *** stress distribution in the interface controls the stability of the *** the elastic bonding stage,the shear stress peak point of the interface is close to the loading end,and the displacement field gradually develops into a‘‘V’’*** the de-bonding stage,there is a shear stress plateau in the center of the anchorage section,and shear strain localization begins to form in the deformation *** the failure stage,the bonding of the interface fails rapidly and the shear stress peak point moves to the anchorage free *** anchorage structure moves integrally along the *** de-bonding stage is a research focus in the deformation and failure process of an anchorage structure,and plays an important guiding role in roadway support design and prediction of the stability of the surrounding rock.

Impacts of corridor design:An investigation on occupant perception of corridor forms in elderly facilities

The study addresses the issue of monotonous and lengthy corridors with a single spatial form commonly found in Chinese elderly *** aim to assess the influence of the built spatial environment on the emotions of the elderly *** do this,Virtual Reality(VR)technology was employed to construct a digital twin model featuring three corridor forms:straight,arc,and folded,*** participants experienced walking in each corridor form for 144 s,while electroencephalogram(EEG)data and subjective questionnaires were collected to explore the psychological and physiological effects caused by different *** results of the questionnaire indicate that arc corridor yielded the highest satisfaction,followed by straight corridor,and the satisfaction for folded corridor is the *** results show that folded corridor has 26.0%higher average power than arc corridor and 6.6%higher than straight *** participants consume less energy and are more satisfied in arc corridor,compared to straight and folded *** results establish a correlation between spatial form and occupant perception,suggesting that moderate spatial variations contribute to a better experience of the ***,this study provides quantitative cross-referencing information to optimize the design methods of public space in elderly facilities.

Access to Supportive Health Services for People with Physical Disabilities: A Case of Health Facilities in Singida Rural District, Tanzania

Background: It is estimated that above one billion people (15%) of the world’s populations are living with disabilities. The poor and unfriendly infrastructure at health facilities is the core challenge for people with physical disabilities in accessing healthcare. This study aimed to explore at what extent the existing infrastructure and design of health facilities in Singida rural district, Tanzania supports people with physical disabilities to access healthcare. Methods: A cross sectional health facility-based assessment of all thirty-two functioning health facilities in the district was done between June and December 2020 using observational checklist and key informants’ interviews consist of measurement procedures of the architectural condition of health facilities. Observation checklist was designed based on standard of health facilities in Tanzania, national guideline for safe care standards for dispensaries, health centers and district hospital of 2014 and national guideline for water, sanitation and hygiene in healthcare facilities of 2017. Data were analyzed by SPSS-26 using descriptive statistics to obtain frequencies tables, percentage and figure. Qualitative data were analyzed by using NVivo-12 software. Results: The study revealed that there was no signage, entrance area, parking and toilets designated for people with physical disabilities in all health facilities. There was no special seat, examination table/bed and special weight scale for people with physical disabilities in all facilities. also, the doors were not wide enough to support wheelchair user to maneuver in all health centers and dispensaries. In addition, door handles were not user friendly for wheelchair users. In fact, only the hospital and health centers had wheelchairs while 27 (96.4%) of all dispensaries had no wheelchairs. Furthermore, ramp and pathways were not available in all dispensaries. all health facilities had stairs but the challenge was most of the staircases had no floor

Measuring and comparing sustainable development levels of cities,regions,and projects are an essential procedure in creating and maintaining sustainable urban *** a new urban sustainable development assessment model:The Live and Work(LaW)City *** an indicator-based sustainable development indexing model,it aims to assist planners and policy makers in their decisionmaking procedures and development of cities by providing an integrated assessment *** efforts were done to develop composite indicators,but it was concluded that most of them focused on environmental dimensions and neglected the overlapping of the other influential *** paper gives an overview of the nature and importance of composite indicators and how it can be structured and implemented precisely;overcoming its drawbacks,to gauge and rank the performance of cities across the demands of people,planet,and profit,as a way of achieving the LaW balance *** methodology of the model is developed by following a set of logical steps such as weighing,normalization,and aggregation of individual *** here,a functional form for aggregation was derived to compute the ***,the structure of the model was illustrated in the form of a pie/radar *** visualized LaW city index has the communicative advantage of being easy to convey comparative levels of different *** total values computed could be used to rank cities in a tabular format and gauge their comparable sustainable development performance *** model can also estimate the sustainable development outcomes of alternative development scenarios during different year’s *** can be achieved by stacking up different model scenarios;making it a relatively simple exercise for both the general public and decision makers to comprehend.

The Application and Prospects of digital Visualization in Urban Public Building Space design

With the development and innovation of digital information technology, digital visualization plays an increasingly important role in the design of urban public building spaces. This paper explores the application of digital visualization technology in the design of urban public building spaces and looks ahead to future trends. Firstly, it analyzes the challenges in the design of urban public building spaces, including extensive professional involvement, complex functional layout requirements, rational emergency evacuation routes, multidimensional analysis of architectural spatial environments, and appropriate selection of decorative materials. Next, it introduces the applications of digital visualization technology in showcasing visual design and expression, optimizing spatial functional layouts, enhancing the rationality of evacuation routes, analyzing dynamic environmental impacts and energy consumption, and improving the effectiveness of material selection in the design of urban public building spaces. Lastly, it discusses the prospects of extended reality (XR) technology, interactive design using data platforms, and AI technology in the design of public building spaces. It is hoped that this paper provides inspiration and reference for the deeper application of digital information technology in the field of architecture. .
