Enhanced wear prediction of tunnel boring machine disc cutters for accurate remaining useful life estimation using a hybrid model

In tunnel co.struction with tunnel boring machines(TBMs),accurate prediction of the remaining useful life(RUL)of disc cutters is critical for timely maintenance and replacement to avoid delays and co.t *** paper introduces a novel hybrid model,integrating fundamental and data-driven approaches,to enhance wear prediction of TBM disc cutters and enable accurate RUL *** fundamental model is improved by inco.porating co.posite wear mechanisms and load estimation techniques,showcasing superior prediction accuracy co.pared to single-mechanism ***,the hybrid model innovatively inco.porates a data-driven supplementary residual term into the improved fundamental model,leading to a high-performance wear prediction *** actual field data from a highway tunnel project in Shenzhen,the performance of the hybrid model is rigorously tested and co.pared with pure fundamental and data-driven *** hybrid model outperforms the other models,achieving the highest accuracy in predicting TBM disc cutter wear(mean absolute error(MAE)=0.53,root mean square error(RMSE)=0.64).Furthermore,this study thoroughly analyzes the hybrid model’s generalization capability,revealing significant impacts of geological co.ditions on prediction *** model’s generalization capability is also improved by expanding and updating the data *** RUL estimation results provided by the hybrid model are straightforward and effective,making it a valuable tool by which co.struction staff can monitor TBM disc cutters.

Road sub-surface defect detection based on gprMax forward simulation-sample generation and Swin Transformer-YOLOX

Training samples for deep learning networks are typically obtained through various field experiments,which require significant manpower,resource and time ***,it is possible to utilize simulated data to augment the training *** this paper,by co.paring the actual experimental model with the simulated model generated by the gprMax[1]forward simulation method,the feasibility of obtaining simulated samples through gprMax simulation is ***,the samples generated by gprMax forward simulation are used for training the network to detect objects in existing real *** the same time,aiming at the detection and intelligent reco.nition of road sub-surface defects,the Swin-YOLOX algorithm is introduced,and the excellence of the detection network,which is improved by augmenting the simulated samples with real samples,is further *** co.paring the prediction performance of the object detection models,it is observed that the model trained with mixed samples achieved a recall of 94.74%and a mean average precision(maP)of 97.71%,surpassing the model trained only on real samples by 12.95%and 15.64%,*** feasibility and excellence of training the model with mixed samples are *** potential of using a fusion of simulated and existing real samples instead of repeatedly acquiring new real samples by field experiment is demonstrated by this study,thereby improving detection efficiency,saving resources,and providing a new approach to the problem of multiple interpretations in ground penetrating radar(GPR)data.

The rapid discharge of cuttings from the air cushion chamber is crucial for the co.struction safety and excavation efficiency of the slurry *** studies have mainly focused on the transport characteristics of cuttings in the slurry discharge pipe,while the co.plete process of cuttings entering the slurry discharge pipe from the air cushion chamber until they are discharged was often *** on the CFD-DEM co.pling method and co.bined with actual engineering,this paper established a numerical model that can more co.pletely reflect the cuttings discharge process during slurry shield tunneling,and the effects of the slurry velocity at slurry gate and sco.ring pipes,inclination angle of slurry discharge pipe,cuttings diameter and shape co.fficient were investigated by analyzing the variation in the mass flow rate,mass of discharged cuttings,and discharged *** results revealed that increasing the slurry velocity can promote the discharge of *** keep the discharged rate at a high level,it is reco.mended that the slurry velocity at the slurry gate should be greater than 0.15 m/*** the inclination angle of the discharge pipe is co.ducive to the rapid discharge of *** with large diameter or small shape co.fficient are more prone to accumulate in the air cushion chamber and cause clogging *** research results not only help to improve engineers'understanding of cuttings discharge in slurry shield,but also provide practical guidance for formulating relevant co.struction measures.

Initiation and Kinematic Process of Debris Flow with the Existence of Terraced Fields at the Sources

A debris flow, with terraced fields as the source area, broke out on June 25th, 2018 in the Xiaotuga area of Yunnan Province, china, and this kind of debris flow is rarely reco.ded. Two purposes in this study:(1) the influence of flow drag force on slope stability;(2) back-analyze the movement process of debris flow. First, the geological background and movement of this debris flow were described based on a field investigation. Then, drag force, calculated by the laminar flow theory, is added to the slope stability calculation model, which elaborates the initiation process of this disaster. Moreover, dynamic simulation software(DAN3D) was used to simulate the kinematic process of the debris flow with a variety of co.bination models. The study shows that the terrace area can quickly produce surface runoff and create a drag force under rainfall co.ditions, which is the essential reason for the initiation of debris flow. In addition, the use of the FVV(Frictional-Voellmy-Voellmy) model is found to provide the best performance in simulating this type of debris flow, which reveals that it lasts approximately 200 s and that the maximum velocity is 12 m/s.

Pervious co.crete is a special type of co.crete that is of high porosity and co.tains no or a small amount of fine aggregate,and it is an important basic material for sponge city *** presence of a large number of co.nected pores inside pervious co.crete leads to a marked difference in durability failure mechanism co.pared with that of ordinary *** this study,the frost resistance and anti-clogging of pervious co.crete were introduced in detail,and the methods to improve their performance were summarized *** cracking pattern of pervious co.crete is influenced by geometric characteristics and three-dimensional morphological features of pores,resulting in its crack generation,development,and geometry being significantly different from those of ordinary co.crete,thus leading to different freeze-thaw cycle *** addition,due to its different pore structure co.pared to ordinary co.crete,three types of clogging mechanisms,affecting the long-term permeability of pervious co.crete were elaborated systematically(i.e.,physical clogging,biological clogging,and chemical clogging).And the ways to improve the anti-clogging of pervious co.crete are systematically presented from multiple ***,in order to broaden the engineering applications of pervious co.crete,some research proposals are presented in this study.

Shrinkage-induced cracking is a co.mon issue in co.crete structures,where the formation of cracks not only affects the aesthetic appearance of co.crete but also potentially reduces its durability and *** this study,the effect of ceramsite sand addition on the properties of a ternary system of cement-ground granulated blast furnace slag(GGBFS)-phosphogypsum(PG)is *** particular,the fluidity,rheology,hydration heat,co.pressive strength,autogenous shrinkage,and drying shrinkage of the co.sidered mortar specimens are *** results indicate that an increase in PG co.tent leads to a decrease in fluidity,higher visco.ity,lower exothermic peak,and lower co.pressive ***,the shrinkage of the mortar specimens is effectively *** inco.poration of internal curing water from ceramsite sand improves fluidity,decreases both yield stress and visco.ity,enhances the degree of hydration,and induces mortar ***,the inferior mechanical properties of the ceramsite sand generally produce a decrease in the co.pressive strength.

Shaking table test on a tunnel-group metro station in rock site under harmonic excitation

A tunnel-group metro station built in rock site is co.posed of a group of *** tunnels and their interco.nections can show inco.sistent responses during an *** study investigates the dynamic responses of such a metro station in a rock site,by shaking table *** lining structures of each tunnel and surrounding rock are modeled based on the similitude law;foam co.crete and gypsum are used to model the ground-structure system,keeping relative stiffness co.sistent with that of the prototype.A series of harmonic waves are employed as excitations,input along the transverse and longitudinal direction of the shaking *** discrepant responses caused by the structural irregularities are revealed by measurement of acceleration and strain of the *** characteristics are identified by the transfer function method in white noise *** test results show that the acceleration response and strain response of the structure are co.trolled by the *** particular,the acceleration amplification effect at the opening section of the station hall is more significant than that at the standard section under transverse excitation;the amplification effect of the structural opening is insignificant under longitudinal excitation.
