Studies on building carbon emissions focus mainly on the materialization phase of life cycle, as carbon emissions in this stage is intensive and high. This paper proposes a simplified model to calculate embodied carbon emissions in building design stage by conducting a process-based inventory analysis of carbon emissions from materials used in 129 residential buildings, 41 office buildings, and 21 commercial buildings during materialization phase. The results indicate that average carbon emissions per unit area from building materials used in residential buildings, office buildings, and commercial buildings are 514.66 kgCO2 e/m2, 533.69 kg CO2 e/m2 and 494.19 kgCO2 e/m2, respectively. Besides, ten kinds of building materials(namely, steel, commercial concrete, wall building materials, mortar, copper core cables, architectural ceramics, PVC pipes, thermal insulation materials, doors and windows, and water paint) constitute 99% of total carbon emissions in all three types of buildings. These materials are major carbon emissions sources in materialization phase. Thus, embodied carbon emissions can be significantly reduced by limiting the amount of these materials in architectural design as well as by using environmental friendly materials.

Stress relaxation of glass is a dualism effect, it often lead to strength degradation in strengthened glass, but on the other hand, it improves the reliability and stress-uniformity of glasses. In this work, stress relaxation of soda-lime glass was investigated using three-point bending tests at 400-560℃ which is near the brittle to ductile transition temperature, for enhancing the safety of glass productions and exploring the most economic anneal process. The experimental results show that the speed of stress relaxation increases but the ultimate stress decreases with increasing temperature. The stress uniformity of the glass samples before and after anneal was examined using spherical indentation at arranged testing points. It indicates that the scatter of the local strength measured by the Hertzian indentation is smaller in the anneal glass than in initial specimen, so that the estimated Weibull modulus for the anneal specimen is higher. The effect of Ga_2O_3 on the structure and properties of calcium aluminate glasses fabricated by vacuum melting process was investigated by Raman spectrum, differential scanning calorimeter（DSC）, and infrared spectrum methods. The results show that calcium aluminate glass network only consists of [AlO_4] tetrahedral units. With the gradual addition of Ga_2O_3, the quantity of [GaO_4] tetrahedral units increases. Substitution of Ga_2O_3 for Al_2O_3 results in a decrease in Tg, Tx, and Tp, and an increase in the thermal stable index ΔT. Similarly, the absorption band around 3.0 μm obviously reduces and the transparency in 4.0-6.0 μm rapidly increases with increasing Ga_2O_3 content. However, the chemical stability of calcium aluminate glasses decreases if Ga_2O_3 is introduced due to the increasing of [GaO_4] units in the glass network.

The energy consumption of a teaching building can be effectively reduced by timetable ***,in most studies that explore methods to reduce building energy consumption by course timetable optimization,self-study activities are not *** this study,an MATLAB-EnergyPlus joint simulation model was constructed based on the building Controls Virtual Test Bed platform to reduce building energy consumption by optimizing the course schedule and opening strategy of self-study rooms in a holistic *** following results were obtained by taking a university in Xi’an as an example:(1)The energy saving percentages obtained by timetabling optimization during the heating season examination week,heating season non-examination week,cooling season examination week,and cooling season non-examination week are 35%,29.4%,13.4%,and 13.4%,respectively.(2)Regarding the temporal arrangement,most courses are scheduled in the morning during the cooling season and afternoon during the heating *** the spatial arrangement,most courses are arranged in the central section of the middle floors of the building.(3)During the heating season,the additional building energy consumption incurred by the opening of self-study rooms decreases when duty heating temperature increases.

The Influence of Atmospheric Pressure on Air Content and Pore Structure of Air-entrained Concrete

To study the effect of atmospheric pressure on the properties of fresh and hardened airentrained concrete, three kinds of air entraining agents were used for preparing air-entrained concrete in the plateaus(Lhasa, 61 kPa) and the plains(Beijing, 101 kPa). Air content, slump, compressive strength and pore structure of the three air-entrained concretes were tested in these two places. It is found that the air content of concrete under low atmospheric pressure(LAP) is 4%-36% lower than that of concrete under normal atmospheric pressure(NAP), which explaines the decrease of slump for air-entrained concrete under LAP. Pore number of hardened concrete under LAP is reduced by 48%-69%. While, the proportion of big pores(pore diameter >1 200 μm) and air void spacing factor are increased by 1.5%-7.3% and 51%-92%, respectively. The deterioration of pore structure results in a 3%-9% reduction in the compressive strength of concrete. From the results we have obtained, it can be concluded that the increase of critical nucleation energy of air bubbles and the decrease of volumetric compressibility coefficient of air in the concrete are responsible for the variation of air content and pore structure of concrete under LAP.

Experimental Study on Thermal Stress of Concrete with Different Expansive Minerals Using a Temperature Stress Testing Machine

In order to compare the compensation effect of expansive materials with different mineral sources on the temperature stress of concrete,we investigated the temperature stress of concrete when adding calcium sulfoaluminate type expansive materials(CSA)or CaO and calcium sulfoaluminate mixed type expansive materials(HCSA)at different temperatures by temperature-stress testing machine(TSTM)considering the influence of temperature history on the *** experimental results show that the expansion characteristics of the two kinds of expansive materials with different mineral sources significantly *** adding expansive materials,the growth rate of compressive stress during the heating stage increases obviously,the maximum compressive stress is higher,while the decline rate of tensile stress in the late cooling stage becomes slow,and finally cracking temperature *** is proved that concrete with HCSA has lower cracking temperatures and better temperature shrinkage compensation ***,it is rational to choose HCSA when preparing concrete with high expansion energy to reduce thermal cracking.

Mesocrystalline TiO2/sepiolite （TiS） composites with the function of adsorption and degradation of liquid organic pollutants were successfully fabricated via a facile and low-cost solvothermal reaction. The prepared TiS composites were characterized by FESEM, HRTEM, XRD, XPS, N2 adsorption-desorption, UV-vis DRS, and EPR. Results revealed the homogeneous dispersion of highly reactive TiO2 mesocrystals on the sepiolite nanofibers. Thereinto each single-crystal-like TiO2 mesocrystal comprised many [001]-oriented anatase nanoparticles about 10-20 nm in diameter. The photocatalytic activity was further evaluated by the degradation of anionic dye （methyl orange） and cationic dye （methylene blue） under the UV-vis light （350≤λ≤780 nm） irradiation. By selecting appropriate experimental conditions, we can easily manipulate the photocatalytic performance of TiS composites. The optimal TiS catalyst （the sepiolite content of 28.5 wt.%, and the reaction time of 24 h） could efficiently degrade methyl orange to 90.7% after 70 min, or methylene blue to 97.8% after 50 min, under UV-vis light irradiation. These results can be attributed to their synergistic effect of high crystallinity, large specific surface area, abundant hydroxyl radicals, and effective photogenerated charge separation.

china’s Tibet autonomous region has abundant solar energy resources,cold winters,and cool *** are ideal conditions for the application of passive solar heating ***,differences in climatic conditions and building types can significantly affect passive solar technology’s feasibility,which makes it challenging to promote passive solar buildings in *** this study,the suitability zone for passive solar technology is categorized based on the sub-zoning indicators for *** modeling between direct gain windows,Trombe walls,and attached sunspaces,the effect of indoor thermal environments and the capacity for heating load reduction is compared for different passive solar *** climate-difference impact analysis shows that the I-B-1 zone is better suited for passive solar technology than other climate *** specifically,this zone has an average energy-saving rate difference of up to 28.61%compared to the II-A-1 *** analysis of the impact of building type differences indicates that residential buildings have higher Trombe wall-to-wall ratio limits and more significant potential for energy savings than office *** study also clarifies the implications of Tibet’s climate conditions and building type differences on the effectiveness of passive solar ***,it recommends appropriate passive solar technology adoption methods for every climate *** study can be used as a reference and engineering guide to improving the indoor thermal environment of Tibetan buildings,tailored to the highly variable local conditions.

Hydration-heat-inhibiting materials(HIM)with polysaccharide as core material was prepared using microcapsule sustained-releasing technology,through a centrifugal spray granulation process after melting *** preparation process parameters of HIM were selected by the semi-adiabatic temperature rise test of cement *** air microcalorimeter was used to investigate the regulation performance of HIM on the hydration of *** influence of HIM on the microstructure of cement was investigated by XRD,SEM,and *** results showed that the most suitable wall material for HIM was polyethylene wax,the optimum polyethylene wax/polysaccharide mass ratio was 1,and the most effective particle size was 0.16-0.30 *** coated by polyethylene wax released slowly,and the peak heat release rate of cement could be reduced by 55.2%after continuous *** regulation period continued to 120 *** mainly decreased the C3S reaction rate,which resulted in a 39.2%peak value reduction of hydration heat release ***,HIM had little regulation on *** hydration heat release process of cement-based materials can be designed by adjusting the dosage of HIM.
