Magnesium as biodegradable biomaterial could serve as bone augmentation material in implant *** knowledge about the predictability of the biodegradation process is essential as this process needs to go hand in hand with the formation of new bone to gradually replace the augmentation ***,this work aimed to assess if the electrochemistry(eC)measurements of the corrosion process correlate with the surface features at various time points during the surface degradation,in order to describe the degradation process of Mg and Mg alloys more reliably,under the assumption that differences in eC behavior can be detected and related to specific patterns on the *** this test setup,a special optical chamber was used for electrochemical measurements on Mg and Mg-alloys(Mg2Ag,Mg4Ag,and Mg6Ag).Specimens were investigated using different circulating cell culture solutions as electrolytes,these were minimum essential medium(MeM),Hank’s Balanced Salt Solution(HBSS),and MeM+(MeM with added sodium hydrogen carbonate)at 37℃.Open circuit potential measurements(OCP)over 30 min followed by cyclic polarization were *** electrochemistry data,including OCP,exchange current density and corrosion potential,were compared with visible changes at the surface during these treatments over *** results show that the addition of silver(Ag)leads to a“standardization”of the degradation regardless of the selected test *** is currently difficult to correlate the visible microscopic changes with the data taken from the ***,further investigations are necessary.

CT-guided high-dose-rate brachytherapy in the interdisciplinary treatment of patients with liver metastases of pancreatic cancer

BACKGROUND： CT-guided high-dose-rate brachytherapy（CT-HDRBT） is an interventional radiologic technique for local ablation of primary and secondary malignomas applying a radiation source through a brachycatheter percutaneously into the targeted lesion. The aim of this study was to assess local tumor control, safety and efficacy of CT-HDRBT in the treatment of liver metastases of pancreatic cancer. MeTHODS： Twenty consecutive patients with 49 unresectable liver metastases of pancreatic cancer were included in this retrospective trial and treated with CT-HDRBT, applied as a single fraction high-dose irradiation（15-20 Gy） using a 192 Irsource. Primary endpoint was local tumor control and secondary endpoints were complications, progression-free survival and overall ***： The mean tumor diameter was 29 mm（range 10-73）. The mean irradiation time was 20 minutes（range 7-42）. The mean coverage of the clinical target volume was 98%（range 88%-100%）. The mean D100 was 18.1 Gy and the median D100 was 19.78 Gy. Three major complications occurred with post-interventional abscesses, three of which were seen in 15 patients with biliodigestive anastomosis（20%）and overall 15%. The mean follow-up time was 13.7 months（range 1.4-55.0）. The median progression-free survival was 4.9 months（range 1.4-42.9, mean 9.4）. Local recurrence occurred in 5（10%） of 49 metastases treated. The median overall survival after CT-HDRBT was 8.6 months（range 1.5-55.3）. eleven patients received chemotherapy after ablation with a median progression-free survival of 4.9 months（mean 12.9）. Nine patients did not receive chemotherapy after intervention with a median progression-free survival of 3.2 months（mean 5.0）. The rate of local tumor control was 91% in both groups after 12 ***： CT-HDRBT was safe and effective for the treatment of liver metastases of pancreatic cancer.

Peanut allergy is majorly related to severe food induced allergic *** food including cow's milk,hen's eggs,soy,wheat,peanuts,tree nuts(walnuts,hazelnuts,almonds,cashews,pecans and pistachios),fish and shellfish are responsible for more than 90%of food ***,we provide promising insights using a large-scale data-driven analysis,comparing the mechanistic feature and biological relevance of different ingredients presents in peanuts,tree nuts(walnuts,almonds,cashews,pecans and pistachios)and ***,we have analysed the chemical compositions of peanuts in different processed form raw,boiled and *** the data-driven approach we are able to generate new hypotheses to explain why nuclear receptors like the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors(PPARs)and its isoform and their interaction with dietary lipids may have significant effect on allergic *** results obtained from this study will direct future experimeantal and clinical studies to understand the role of dietary lipids and PPARisoforms to exert pro-inflammatory or anti-inflammatory functions on cells of the innate immunity and influence antigen presentation to the cells of the adaptive immunity.

Background and purpose Retinal pathologies are an independent risk factor for ischaemic stroke,but research on the predictive value of retinal abnormalities for recurrent vascular events in patients with prior stroke is *** investigated the association of retinal pathologies with subsequent vascular *** In a substudy of the Intensified secondary prevention intending a reduction of recurrent events in TIA and minor stroke patients(INSPiRe-TMS)trial,we enrolled patients with recent transient ischaemic attack(TIA)or minor stroke with at least one modifiable risk *** outcome was the composite of subsequent vascular *** photographs were taken at baseline and categorised into three different fundus groups by a telemedically linked *** 722 patients participated in the current study and 109 major vascular events *** multivariable adjustments,we did not find a significant association between fundus categories and risk for subsequent vascular events(HRs for moderate vascular retinopathy and vascular retinopathy with vessel rarefaction in comparison to no vascular retinopathy 1.03(95%CI 0.64 to 1.67),p=0.905 and 1.17(95%CI 0.62 to 2.20),p=0.626).In a selective post hoc analysis in patients with diabetes mellitus and hypertension,patients with vascular retinopathy with vessel rarefaction had a higher risk for recurrent stroke(HR 24.14(95%CI 2.74 to 212.50),p=0.004).Conclusions Retinal changes did not predict major subsequent vascular events in patients with recent TIA or minor *** studies are needed to examine the utility of fundus photography in assessing the risk of stroke recurrence in patients with diabetes mellitus and hypertension.

*** Our current understanding of the complex biology of solid organs,such as the liver,has been tremendously advanced by a wide variety of methodological approaches based on cell biology,biochemistry,molecular biology,and *** methods such as the morphological assessment of tissue structure by histology and immunohistochemistry have generated valuable knowledge and revealed improved treatment options for various liver ***,due to recent technological advances,it has been possible to gain deeper insights into physiological and pathological tissue organization,as well as dynamic processes taking place in *** novel methods include single-cell tar-geted transcriptome analysis,mass spectrometry-based metabolite and protein expression studies,and considerable advances in two-and three-dimensional(2D/3D)*** commentary will briefly review the recent progress that has been made in the field of imaging-based liver research,highlighting the novel possibilities of high-dimensional,multiparametric imaging in two and three dimensions,as well as those of dynamic time-lapse in vitro and in vivo imaging(Fig.1).We will also highlight some potential applications of these techniques for specific research questions in liver biology and disease.

A recent study by Chen et *** in Nature reported the presence of activated T cells in the brains of transgenic mice with frontotemporal dementia(FTD)-like Tau protein pathology and in postmortem Alzheimer’s disease(AD)brains.1 The infiltration of T cells correlated with the degree of Tau pathology and microglia activation,and appeared to promote *** progressive aggregation of amyloid-β in extracellular amyloid plaques and of Tau in neurofibrillary tangles are the two main protein pathological hallmarks of *** are accompanied by synaptic loss,neuroinflammation,and neuronal death,and com-promise the blood-brain barrier,allowing immune cells to infiltrate the brain parenchyma and interact with glial cells and neurons;all of these factors contribute to disease progression.2 Activated T cells can be found in postmortem brains of different neurological disorders,in AD,particularly in areas with neuronal loss and Tau pathology,i.e.,the hippocampus and limbic structures.
