The Brassicaceae-specific secreted peptides,STMPs,function in plant growth and pathogen defense

Low molecular weight secreted peptides have recently been shown to affect multiple aspects of plant growth,development,and defense ***,we performed stepwise BLAST filtering to identify unannotated peptides from the Arabidopsis thaliana protein database and uncovered a novel secreted peptide family,secreted transmembrane peptides(STMPs).These low molecular weight peptides,which consist of an N-terminal signal peptide and a transmembrane domain,were primarily localized to extracellular compartments but were also detected in the endomembrane system of the secretory pathway,including the endoplasmic reticulum and *** bioinformatics analysis identified 10 STMP family members that are specific to the Brassicaceae *** plants showed dramatically inhibited root growth uponexposure to chemically synthesized STMP1 and *** overexpressing STMP1,2,4,6,or 10 exhibited severely arrested growth,suggesting that STMPs are involved in regulating plant growth and *** addition,in vitro bioassays demonstrated that STMP1,STMP2,and STMP10 have antibacterial effects against Pseudomonas syringae *** DC3000,Ralstonia solanacearum,Bacillus subtilis,and Agrobacterium tumefaciens,demonstrating that STMPs are antimicrobial *** findings suggest that STMP family members play important roles in various developmental events and pathogen defense responses in Brassicaceae plants.

Given the great advancements in soft computing and data science,artificial neural network(ANN)has been explored and applied to handle complicated problems in the field of pavement *** study conducted a state-of-the-art review for surveying the recent progress of ANN application at different stages of pavement engineering,including pavement design,construction,inspection and monitoring,and *** study focused on the papers published over the last three decades,especially the studies conducted since *** literature retrieval,a total of 683 papers in this field were identified,among which 143 papers were selected for an in-depth *** ANN architectures used in these studies mainly included multi-layer perceptron neural network(MLPNN),convolutional neural network(CNN)and recurrent neural network(RNN)for processing one-dimensional data,two-dimensional data and time-series ***-based pavement health inspection and monitoring attracted the largest research interest due to its potential to replace human *** ANN has been proved to be an effective tool for pavement material design,cost analysis,defect detection and maintenance planning,it is facing huge challenges in terms of data collection,parameter optimization,model transferability and low-cost data *** attention should be paid to bring multidisciplinary techniques into pavement engineering to tackle existing challenges and widen future opportunities.

The collective behavior of coupled oscillators has been widely studied, owing to their relevance in a variety of areas such as physics, chemistry, and biology. Generally, complete synchronization （CS） is believed to be the strongest type of collective behavior, which implies that the oscillators behave in the same fashion. CS occurs to identical oscillators if their interactions are sufficiently strong, so that it is only a very specific behavior. More common is the collective behavior arising in small coupling, which is far from the condition of CS.

Protein–protein interaction(PPI)network analysis is an effective method to identify key proteins during plant development,especially in species for which basic molecular research is lacking,such as apple(Malus domestica).Here,an MdPPI network containing 30806 PPIs was inferred in apple and its quality and reliability were rigorously ***,a rootgrowth subnetwork was extracted to screen for critical proteins in root *** hormone-related proteins occupied the largest proportion of critical proteins,a hormonerelated sub-subnetwork was further extracted from the root-growth *** these proteins,auxin-related *** TRANSPORT INHIBITOR RESISTANT 1(MdTIR1)served as the central,high-degree node,implying that this protein exerts essential roles in root ***,transgenic apple roots overexpressing an MdTIR1 transgene displayed increased primary root *** analysis showed that MdTIR1 significantly upregulated auxin-responsive genes in apple roots,indicating that it mediates root growth in an auxin-dependent *** experimental validation revealed that MdTIR1 interacted with and accelerated the degradation of MdIAA28,MdIAA43,***,MdTIR1-mediated degradation of MdIAAs is critical in auxin signal transduction and root growth regulation in ***,our network analysis and high-degree node screening provide a novel research technique for more generally characterizing molecular mechanisms.

Co-Seismic Surface Rupture and Recurrence Interval of Large Earthquakes along Damaoyaba-Litang Segment of the Litang Fault on the Eastern Margin of the Tibetan Plateau in China

The Litang fault is a left-lateral secondary shear zone in the Sichuan-Yunnan active block that accommodates the tectonic deformation associated with the eastward extrusion of the upper crust of the Tibetan Plateau. Based on 1 : 50 000 geological mapping of active faults, the Litang fault consists of three geometric segments, the Cuopuhu, Damaoyaba, and Litang segments, in the west of Litang, which are divided by the of Haizi Mountain uplift and the wide-angle bending and branching of the fault near Jinchanggou. This study also identifies the surface rupture of the A.D. 1890 earthquake, which is distributed intermittently along the ~28 km long Damaoyaba segments and ~25 km long Litang segments. The maximum horizontal displacement is 4.1 m along Damaoyaba segments, and 4 m along Litang segments. The rupture involves typical left-lateral shear movement. The two ruptures are divided by discontinuous segments or gaps that are ~18 km long;thus, the total surface rupture is approximately 71 km long. The estimated moment magnitude was M_(w)7.3±0.1. A comprehensive analysis of data obtained from 5 trenches excavated along the Damaoyaba and Litang segments and the trench data by xu et al.(2005) identifies age constraints of the 4 most recent paleoseimic events occurred B.C. 1468±54–1340±25, B.C. 52±25–A.D. 76±47, A.D. 1115±90, and A.D. 1890, respectively. The recurrence intervals are 1 415±80, 1 104±104, and 775±90 a, which are consistent with quasi-periodic earthquake recurrence behavior. The average recurrence interval is 1 098±112 a.

Based on Mindlin plate models and Kirchhoff plate models,this study was concerned with the wave propagation characteristics in thick conventional and auxetic cellular structures,with the objective to clarify the effects of negative Poisson＇s ratio,shear factor and orthotropic mechanical properties on the dynamic behaviors of thick *** results revealed that the predictions using variable shear factor in Mindlin plate models resulted in high wave frequencies,which were more significant for plates with negative values of Poisson＇s *** present study can be useful for the design of critical applications by varying the values of Poisson＇s ratio.

Impacts of communication delay on vehicle platoon string stability and its compensation strategy:A review

Based on the four-element model,this paper reviewed the important research progress in vehicle platoon,compared the advantages and disadvantages of different models in each element longitudinally,and summarized the linkage between each element *** stability criteria are briefly reviewed from three dimensions:local stability,string stability,and traffic flow *** impact of communication delay on vehicle platoon is quantitatively summarized from two aspects:the variation of controller gains and the variation of headway time *** at the inevitable communication delay in vehicle platoon,the compensation strategies are analyzed from five levels.(1)Optimizing the communication network structure.(2)Reconstructing acceleration information.(3)Tuning controller gains.(4)Constructing a multi-branch selection structure.(5)Improving the *** results show that,although these compensation strategies can alleviate the negative impact of communication delay to a certain extent,they also have some defects such as difficulty in adapting to complex and various real road conditions,poor accuracy and real-time performance,insufficient security,and limited application *** is necessary to further improve the accuracy and real-time performance of the device,design an encrypted and scalable network architecture to ensure communication security and adaptability,and conduct further real vehicle testing.
