Background: Physical activity(PA) and diet are 2 lifestyle factors that affect cardiometabolic risk. However, data on how a high-fat highcarbohydrate(HFHC) diet influences the effect of different intensities of PA on cardiometabolic health and cardiovascular function in a controlled setting are yet to be fully established. This study investigated the effect of sedentary behavior, light-intensity training(LIT), and high-intensity interval training(HIIT) on cardiometabolic markers and vascular and cardiac function in HFHC-fed adult ***: Twelve-week-old Wistar rats were randomly allocated to 4 groups(12 rats/group): control(CTL), sedentary(SED), LIT, and *** indices, glucose and lipid control, inflammatory and oxidative stress markers, vascular reactivity, and cardiac electrophysiology of the experimental groups were examined after 12 weeks of HFHC-diet feeding and PA ***: The SED group had slower cardiac conduction(p = 0.0426) and greater thoracic aortic contractile responses(p endothelium-dependent mesenteric artery relaxation compared with the LIT group(both p endothelium-dependent relaxation. No other differences were observed between groups. These findings suggest that few positive health effects can be achieved through LIT and HIIT when consuming a chronic and sustained HFHC diet.

Cerebral small vessel disease(CSVD)is a very common neurological disease in older *** causes stroke and dementia,mood disturbance and gait *** it is difficult to visualise CSVD pathologies in vivo,the diagnosis of CSVD has relied on imaging findings including white matter hyperintensities,lacunar ischaemic stroke,lacunes,microbleeds,visible perivascular spaces and many haemorrhagic ***,variations in the use of definition and terms of these features have probably caused confusion and difficulties in interpreting results of previous studies.A standardised use of terms should be encouraged in CSVD *** CSVD features have long been regarded as different lesions,but emerging evidence has indicated that they might share some common intrinsic microvascular pathologies and therefore,owing to its diffuse nature,CSVD should be regarded as a‘whole-brain disease’.Single antiplatelet(for acute lacunar ischaemic stroke)and management of traditional risk factors still remain the most important therapeutic and preventive approach,due to limited understanding of pathophysiology in *** evidence suggests that new studies should consider drugs that target endothelium and blood–brain barrier to prevent and treat *** of CSVD might differ in Asian compared with Western populations(where most results and guidelines about CSVD and stroke originate),but more community-based data and clear stratification of stroke types are required to address this.

Objective:To investigate the involvement of Ca^(2+)in dengue virus(DENV)-infected human umbilical vein endothelial cells(HUVECs)and the disruption of endothelial ***:HUVECs were infected with DENV-2 in the presence of intracellular Ca^(2+)or endoplasmic reticulum Ca^(2+)*** infectivity was measured by focus-forming assay and quantitative *** Ca^(2+)was measured using Fluo-4-AM ***-cadherin and focal adhesion kinase(FAK)expressions were investigated by immunofluorescence and immunoblotting assays,***:DENV infection increased intracellular cytosolic Ca^(2+)levels and caused disassembly of the adherens junction protein,VEcadherin as evidenced by decreased VE-cadherin expression at the periphery of DENV-2 infected *** of intracellular Ca^(2+)stores,particularly those of the endoplasmic reticulum Ca^(2+),significantly decreased DENV yield in *** virus yield following the depletion of intracellular Ca^(2+)was caused by the inhibition of viral entry into HUVECs and not the inhibition of viral binding or ***-2 infection also resulted in Ca^(2+)-dependent activation of ***:Intracellular Ca^(2+)is required for the early phases of DENV infection in endothelial *** cytosolic Ca^(2+)levels in endothelial cells during DENV infection activated FAK,disrupted adherens junctions and compromised barrier ***,Ca^(2+)plays an important role in DENV infection in endothelial cells.

The paper is devoted to study the non-Newtonian behavior of blood flowing in an artery having a stenosis, in a situation when a catheter has been inserted into it. The blood rheology is described by Herschel-Bulkley fluid model. The flow configuration is con- structed by choosing suitable curvature at the lateral junction, where the flow separation is initiated. The effects of insertion of catheter and that of yield stress of blood on the velocity distribution, rate of flow and flow resistance of blood, distribution of shear stress at the arterial wall and the location of yield plane are investigated. The results provide some useful information for the prediction/treatment of some arterial diseases and circulatory disorders of the cardiovascular system, in a situation, when a stenosis is developed on the endothelium of the daughter artery / bifurcated artery. The study reveals that if the ratio between the radii of the catheter and the artery is increased, the shear stress at the arterial wall diminishes. However, when the bifurcation angle is increased, the wall shear stress is enhanced.

Dear Editor,I ridocorneal endothelial syndrome(ICE)is a rare,usually unilateral,acquired condition,hypothesized to be secondary to a viral etiology[1].It affects females more often than males and comprises of three distinct clinical types related to endothelial proliferation and its structural *** of endothelium over the iridocorneal angle leads to progressive secondary angle closure and that over the iris leads to typical changes of polycoria and *** clinical entities included in the syndrome are Chandlers(predominant corneal involvement),progressive iris atrophy(predominant iris involvement with polycoria and‘holes’)and Cogan Reese(iris nodules with loss of stromal features).No matter what the clinical type,it is a progressive condition and controlling intraocular pressure(IOP)and maintaining corneal clarity in the long term is usually a challenge.
