Effects of creative expression program on the event-related potential and task reaction time of elderly with mild cognitive impairment

Objectives:This study aimed to evaluate the effects of a 16-week creative expression intervention program(CrExp)on the event-related potential(ERP)and task reaction time in older individuals with mild cognitive impairment(MCI).Methods:This study is a randomized controlled clinical trial conducted in the Memory center of Fujian Provincial ***-six MCI patients were randomly distributed into two *** group underwent a 16-week creative expression program(CrExp,n=18)and the other performed as a control group(CG,n=18)by general social *** amplitude and latency of ERP-P300 from the central(Cz),parietal(Pz),frontal(Fz)cortices and task reaction time(RT)were assessed at baseline,postinterventi on,and 24-week ***:The CrExp group showed greater differences than CG of P300 latency in Cz(F=4.37,P=0.015),Pz(F=2.78,P=0.009),Fz(F=6.45,P=0.031)brain area after 16 weeks of intervention and in Fz(F=3.23,P=0.028),Cz(F=3.79,P=0.024),and Pz(F=5.60,P=0.036)at 24 weeks ***,we analyzed the task reaction time between two groups and found that a shorten reaction time at postintervention(F=4.47,P=0.011)and 24 weeks follow-up(F=3.12,P=0.007)in the CrExp ***,there was no difference in P300 amplitude in either brain area between the two ***:The electrophysiological results of the creative expression cognitive therapy group were more obvious than those of the general cognitive therapy group,and the latency and task reaction time may be considered as supported parameters in diagnosing the effects during non-drug therapy intervention in clinical practice.

Probabilistic Flood Prediction in the Upper Huaihe Catchment Using TIGGE Data

Based on the precipitation and temperature data obtained from THORPEX （The Observing System Research and Predictability Experiment） Interactive Grand Global Ensemble （TIGGE）-China Meteorological Administration （CMA） archiving center and the raingauge data, the three-layer variable infiltration capacity （VIC-3L） land surface model was employed to carry out probabilistic hydrological forecast experiments over the upper Huaihe River catchment from 20 July to 3 August 2008. The results show that the performance of the ensemble probabilistic prediction from each ensemble prediction system （EPS） is better than that of the deterministic prediction. Especially, the 72-h prediction has been improved obviously. The ensemble spread goes widely with increasing lead time and more observed discharge is bracketed in the 5th-99th quantile. The accuracy of river discharge prediction driven by the European Centre （EC）-EPS is higher than that driven by the CMA-EPS and the US National centers for Environmental Prediction （NCEP）-EPS, and the grand-ensemble prediction is the best for hydrological prediction using the VIC model. With regard to Wangjiaba station, all predictions made with a single EPS are close to the observation between the 25th and 75th quantile. The onset of the flood ascending and the river discharge thresholds are predicted well, and so is the second rising limb. Nevertheless, the flood recession is not well predicted.

Development and Application of an Atmospheric-HydrologicHydraulic Flood Forecasting Model Driven by TIGGE Ensemble Forecasts

A coupled atmospheric-hydrologic-hydraulic ensemble flood forecasting model, driven by The Observing System Research and Predictability Experiment （THORPEX） Interactive Grand Global Ensemble （TIGGE） data, has been developed for flood forecasting over the Huaihe River. The incorporation of numerical weather prediction （NWP） information into flood forecasting systems may increase forecast lead time from a few hours to a few days. A single NWP model forecast from a single forecast center, however, is insufficient as it involves considerable non-predictable uncertainties and leads to a high number of false alarms. The availability of global ensemble NWP systems through TIGGE offers a new opportunity for flood forecast. The Xinanjiang model used for hydrological rainfall-runoff modeling and the one-dimensional unsteady flow model applied to channel flood routing are coupled with ensemble weather predictions based on the TIGGE data from the Canadian Meteorological Centre （CMC）, the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts （ECMWF）, the UK Met Office （UKMO）, and the US National centers for Environmental Prediction （NCEP）. The developed ensemble flood forecasting model is applied to flood forecasting of the 2007 flood season as a test case. The test case is chosen over the upper reaches of the Huaihe River above Lutaizi station with flood diversion and retarding areas. The input flood discharge hydrograph from the main channel to the flood diversion area is estimated with the fixed split ratio of the main channel discharge. The flood flow inside the flood retarding area is calculated as a reservoir with the water balance method. The Muskingum method is used for flood routing in the flood diversion area. A probabilistic discharge and flood inundation forecast is provided as the end product to study the potential benefits of using the TIGGE ensemble forecasts. Background: Traumatic brain injury is a major health problem that frequently leads to deficits in executive function. Self-regulation processes, such as goal-setting, may become disordered after traumatic brain injury, particularly when the frontal regions of the brain and their connections are involved. Such impairments reduce injured veterans' ability to return to work or school and to regain satisfactory personal lives. Understanding the neurologically disabling effects of brain injury on executive function is necessary for both the accurate diagnosis of impairment and the individual tailoring of rehabilitation processes to help returning service members recover independent ***/design: The COMPASSgoal(Community Participation through Self-Efficacy Skills Development) program develops and tests a novel patient-centered intervention framework for community reintegration psychosocial research in veterans with mild traumatic brain injury. COMPASSgoal integrates the principles and best practices of goal self-management. Goal setting is a core skill in self-management training by which persons with chronic health conditions learn to improve their status and decrease symptom effects. Over a three-year period, COMPASSgoal will recruit 110 participants with residual executive dysfunction three months or more post-injury. Inclusion criteria combine both clinical diagnosis and standardized scores that are >1 SD from the normative score on the Frontal Systems Rating Scale. Participants are randomized into two groups: goal-management(intervention) and supported discharge(control). The intervention is administered in eight consecutive, weekly sessions. Assessments occur at enrollment, post-intervention/supported discharge, and three months post-treatment ***: Goal management is part of the "natural language" of rehabilitation. Colonic diverticulitis with comorbid diseases may require elective colectomy

AIM:To investigate the comorbid disease could be the predictors for the elective colectomy in colonic ***:A retrospective chart review of 246 patients with colonic diverticulitis admitted between 2000and 2008 was conducted,and 19 patients received emergent operation were identified and *** were collected with regard to age,sex,albumin level on admission,left or right inflammation site,the history of recurrent diverticulitis,preoperative comorbidity,smoking habits,medication,treatment policy,morbidity,and *** comorbid diseases included cardiovascular disease,diabetes,pulmonary disease,peptic ulcer disease,gouty arthritis,and *** in use included non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs,acetylsalicylic acid(Aspirin),and *** and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to identify the relevant risk factors correlating to ***:The mean age of the 246 patients was 69.5years(range,24-94 years).Most diverticulitis could be managed with conservative treatment(n=227,92.3%),and urgent colectomy was performed in 19patients(7.7%).There were three deaths in the surgical group and four deaths in the nonsurgical *** overall mortality rate in the study was 1.7%among patients with conservative treatment and 15.7%among patients undergoing urgent *** logistic regression analysis indicated that comorbidities were risk factors for urgent colectomy for ***:To avoid high mortality and morbidity related to urgent colectomy,we suggest that patients with colonic diverticulitis and comorbid diseases may require elective colectomy.

Analysis of a Typical Case of Meteorological service in Tangpu Reservoir

The continuous rainy precipitation process from February to March in 2019 was selected to analyze the effect of meteorological service in Tangpu Reservoir basin,so as to sum up service experience and then lay a better foundation for subsequent *** response to the rainy weather from December 2018 to early 2019,three rounds of flood discharge were carried out in Tangpu *** February-March in 2019,the hit rate of short-term area rainfall forecast for Tangpu Reservoir was 80.0%.Compared with the median of forecast interval,the average absolute error was 7.6 mm,and the relative error was 32.7%.The large deviation in the forecast from March 27 to 28 was deeply analyzed,and it is found that the main reasons were excessive reliance on and trust in a single model,insufficient correction of the actual situation,and insufficient judgment of the nature of *** the future reservoir meteorological service,three aspects of thinking were put forward,such as further strengthening the sharing of hydrological and meteorological information,improving the forecasting ability,and deepening the research of runoff forecast models.

Drip fertigation and plant hedgerows significantly reduce nitrogen and phosphorus losses and maintain high fruit yields in intensive orchards

A field experiment was carried out to evaluate the effects of drip fertigation combined with plant hedgerows on nitrogen and phosphorus runoff losses in intensive pear orchards in the Tai Lake *** and phosphorus runoff over a whole year were measured by using successional runoff water collection *** four experimental treatments were conventional fertilization(CK),drip fertigation(DF),conventional fertilization combined with plant hedgerows(C+H),and drip fertigation combined with plant hedgerows(D+H).The results from one year of continuous monitoring showed a significant positive correlation between precipitation and surface runoff *** runoff discharge under the treatments without plant hedgerows totaled 15.86%of precipitation,while surface runoff discharge under the treatments with plant hedgerows totaled 12.82%of *** hedgerows reduced the number of runoff events and the amount of surface *** is the main driving force for the loss of nitrogen and phosphorus in surface runoff,and fertilization is an important factor affecting the losses of nitrogen and *** CK,approximately 7.36%of nitrogen and 2.63%of phosphorus from fertilization entered the surface water through *** fertigation reduced the accumulation of nitrogen and phosphorus in the surface soil and lowered the runoff loss concentrations of total nitrogen(TN)and total phosphorus(TP).Drip fertigation combined with plant hedgerows significantly reduced the overall TN and TP losses by 45.38 and 36.81%,respectively,in comparison to the CK *** fertigation increased the vertical migration depth of nitrogen and phosphorus nutrients and reduced the accumulation of nitrogen and phosphorus in the surface soil,which increased the pear *** promotion of drip fertigation combined with plant hedgerows will greatly reduce the losses of nitrogen and phosphorus to runoff and maintain the high fruit yields in the intensive orchards of

Post-discharge complications after esophagectomy account for high readmission rates

AIM: To identify rates of post-discharge complications(PDC), associated risk factors, and their influence on early hospital outcomes after ***: We used the 2005-2013 American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program(ACS-NSQIP) database to identify patients ≥ 18 years of age who underwent an esophagectomy. These procedures were categorized into four operative approaches: transhiatal, Ivor-Lewis, 3-holes, and non-gastric conduit. We selected patient data based on clinical relevance to patients undergoing esophagectomy and compared demographic and clinical characteristics. The primary outcome was PDC, and secondary outcomes were hospital readmission and reoperation. The patients were then divided in 3 groups: no complication(Group 1), only pre-discharge complication(Group 2), and PDC patients(Group 3). A modified Poisson regression analysis was used to identify risk factors associated with developing postdischarge complication, and risk ratios were ***: 4483 total patients were identified, with 8.9% developing PDC within 30-d after esophagectomy. patients who experienced complications post-discharge had a median initial hospital length of stay(LOS) of 9 d; however, PDC occurred on average 14 d following surgery. patients with PDC had greater rates of wound infection(41.0% vs 19.3%, P patients with pre-discharge complication.
