Analyzing the Interplay of Sintering Conditions on Microstructure and Hardness in Indirect Additive Manufacturing of 17-4PH Stainless Steel

Indirect additive manufacturing(AM)methods have recently attracted attention from researchers thanks to their great potential for cheap,straightforward,and small-scale production of metallic *** diffusion additive manufacturing(ADAM),a variant of indirect AM methods,is a layer-wise indirect AM process recently developed based on fused deposition modeling and metal injection ***,there is still limited knowledge of the process conditions and material properties fabricated through this process,where sintering plays a crucial role in the final consolidation of ***,this research,for the first time,systematically investigates the impact of various sintering conditions on the shrinkage,relative density,microstructure,and hardness of the 17-4PH ADAM *** this reason,as-washed samples were sintered under different time-temperature *** sample density was evaluated using Archimedes,computed tomography,and image analysis *** outcomes revealed that sintering variables significantly impacted the density of brown 17-4PH Stainless Steel *** results indicated more than 99% relative densities,higher than the value reported by Markforged Inc.(~96%).Based on parallel porosities observed in the computed tomography results,it can be suggested that by modifying the infill pattern during printing,it would be possible to increase the final relative *** microhardness of the sintered samples in this study was higher than that of the standard sample provided by Markforged *** at 1330℃ for 4 h increased the density of the printed sample without compromising its mechanical *** to X-ray diffraction analysis,the standard sample provided by Markforged ***“1330℃—4 h”one had similar stable phases,although copper-rich intermetallics were more abundant in the microstructure of reference *** study is expected to facilitate the adoption of indirect metal AM methods by different sector

Predictive Values of Body Mass Index and Waist Circumference for Risk Factors of Certain Related Diseases in Chinese Adults - study on Optimal Cut-off Points of Body Mass Index and Waist Circumference in Chinese Adults

Objective For prevention of obesity in Chinese population, it is necessary to definethe optimal range of healthy weight and the appropriate cut-off points of BMI and waistcircumference for Chinese adults. The Working Group on obesity in China under the supportof International Life Sciences Institute Focal Point in China organized a meta-analysis on therelation between BMI, waist circumference and risk factors of related chronic diseases (e. g.,high diabetes, diabetes mellitus, and lipoprotein disorders). Methods 13 population studiesin all met the criteria for enrollment, with data of 239 972 adults (20-70 year) surveyed inthe 1990s. Data on waist circumference was available for 111411 persons and data on serumlipids and glucose were available for more than 80 000. The study populations located in21provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in China's Mainland as well as inTaiwan. Each enrolled study provided data according to a common protocol and uniformformat. The center for data management in Department of Epidemiology, Fu Wai Hospitalwas responsible for statistical analysis. Results and conclusion The prevalence ofhypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia and clustering of risk factors all increased withincreasing levels of BMI or waist circumference. BMI at 24 with best sensitivity andspecificity for identification of the risk factors, was recommended as the cut-off point foroverweight, BMI at 28 which may identify the risk factors with specificity around 90 % wasrecommended as the cut-off point for obesity. Waist circumference beyond 85 cm for menand beyond 80 cm for women were recommended as the cut-off points for central *** of population attributable risk percent illustrated that reducing BMI to normalrange (<24) could prevent 45%-50% clustering of risk factors. Treatment of obese persons(BMI≥28)with drugs could prevent 15%-17% clustering of risk factors. The waistcircumference controlled under 85 cm for men and under 80 cm for women

The PhoR/PhoP two-component system regulates fengycin production in Bacillus subtilis NCD-2 under low-phosphate conditions

Bacillus subtilis strain NCD-2 is an excellent biocontrol agent for plant soil-borne diseases, and the lipopeptide fengycin is one of the active antifungal compounds in strain NCD-2. The regulator PhoP and its sensor kinase PhoR compose a two-component system in B. subtilis. In this study, the phoR- and phoP-knockout mutants were constructed by in-frame deletion and the role of PhoR/PhoP on the production of fengycin was determined. Inactivation of phoR or phoP in B. subtilis decreased its inhibition ability against Botrytis cinerea growth in vitro compared to the strain NCD-2 wild type. The lipopeptides were extracted from strain NCD-2 wild type and its mutant strains by hydrochloric acid precipitate, and the lipopeptides from phoR-null mutant orphoP-null mutant almost lost the inhibition ability against B. cinerea growth compared to the lipopeptides from strain NCD-2 wild type. Fast protein liquid chromatography （FPLC） analysis of the lipopeptides showed that inactivation of phoR or phoP genes reduced the production of fengycin by strain NCD-2. The fengycin production abilities were compared for bacteria under low-phosphate medium （LPM） and high-phosphate medium （HPM）, respectively. Results indicated that the regulation of fengycin production by the PhoR/PhoP two-component system occurred in LPM but not in HPM. Reverse transcriptionaI-PCR confirmed that the fengycin synthetase gene fenC was positively regulated by phoP when cultured in LPM. All of these characteristics could be partially restored by complementation of intact phoR or phoP gene in the mutant. These data indicated that the PhoR/PhoP two-component system greatly regulated fengycin production and antifungal ability in B. subtilis NCD-2 mainly under low-phosphate conditions.

Efficacy and safety of Di-Tan Decoction for treating post-stroke neurological disorders:a systematic review and Meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials

The management of post-stroke complications plays an important role in the quality of ***-Tan Decoction(DTD;涤痰汤)is a widely used traditional Chinese *** study incorporated systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the efficacy of DTD in post-stroke neurological *** clinical trials(RCTs)were searched from English,Chinese and Korean electronic medical databases,by including the keywords"Di-Tan Tang","Di-Tan Decoction","Scour Phlegm Decoction","stroke",and"*** RCT included control(placebo,conventional therapy,or Western medicine)and experimental(DTD treatment)*** patients inflicted with stroke for 1-6 weeks,the outcomes of post-stroke neurological disorders were measured by scales for post-stroke symptoms and were classified as"completely healed","markedly effective","effective"and"ineffective".Totally,11 RCTs(n=490 controls and n=502 DTD subjects)were selected from 210 articles identified in the initial search.A metaanalysis of evaluation criteria in post-stroke symptoms revealed that the overall odds ratio(ORs)for alleviating post-stroke neurological disorders were 0.30-fold lower(95%CI=0.21-0.43)in the DTD group than the control(Western medicine)group(P<0.00001).Moreover,regardless of the type of stroke diagnostic scale applied(including NFA,HDS,and NIHSS),the overall post-stroke symptoms determined were less severe in the DTD group(n=219)than the control group(n=217).No adverse effects of DTD were observed in the 11 RCTs *** 11 studies used an appropriate method for randomization of subjects to evaluate the risk of bias(ROB),and 7 studies included allocation concealment as well as blinding of patients and ***-risk ROB was included in6 *** significant publication bias was derived from the funnel *** results indicate that the administration of DTD alone,and DTD in combination with Western medicine,exert greater efficacy for post-stroke complication therapy,than Western medicine administ

A new bacteria-free strategy induced by MaGal2 facilitates pinewood nematode escape immune response from its vector beetle

Symbiotic microbes play a crucial role in regulating parasite–host interactions;however,the role of bacterial associates in parasite–host interactions requires *** this study,we showed that,instead of introducing numerous symbiotic bacteria,dispersal of 4th-stage juvenile(JIV)pinewood nematodes(PWNs),Bursaphelenchus xylophilus,only introduced few bacteria to its vector beetle,Monochamus alternatus(Ma).JIV showed weak binding ability to five dominant bacteria species isolated from the beetles’pupal *** was especially the case for binding to the opportunistic pathogenic species Serratia marcescens;the nematodes’bacteria binding ability at this critical stage when it infiltrates Ma for dispersal was much weaker compared with Caenorhabditis elegans,Diplogasteroides asiaticus,and propagative-stage *** associated bacterium ***,which was isolated from the beetles’pupal chambers,was unfavorable to Ma,because it caused a higher mortality rate upon injection into *** addition,*** in the tracheae caused more immune effector disorders compared with PWN ***_Galectin2(MaGal2),a pattern-recognition receptor,was up-regulated following PWN *** MaGal2 protein formed aggregates with five dominant associated bacteria in ***,MaGal2 knockdown beetles had up-regulated prophenoloxidase gene expression,increased phenoloxidase activity,and decreased PWN *** study revealed a previously unknown strategy for immune evasion of this plant pathogen inside its vector,and provides novel insights into the role of bacteria in parasite–host interactions.

Juvenile hormone acts on male accessory gland function via regulating L-asparaginase expression and triacylglycerol mobilization in Aedes aegypti

Hormones control the reproductive development of Aedes aegypti *** adult male reproductive process and mating behavior require adequate nutrients and *** the molecular mechanism linking hormones,energy metabolism,and reproduction in male mosquitoes is *** this study,we found that the size of the male accessory gland,an essential part of the male reproductive system,gradually increased after ***,it was significantly reduced in male mosquitoes deficient in methoprene-tolerant(Met),the receptor of juvenile ***,egg hatchability of females that mated with Met-depleted males showed the same downward *** mRNA level of the gene encoding accessory gland protein,l-asparaginase(ASNase),was reduced in Met dsRNA-treated *** mobility shift assay and quantitative reverse transcription-PCR results revealed that Met was capable of binding directly to the promoter of ASNase and activated its *** interference of ASNase in males resulted in the reduction of egg hatchability of the females with which they *** results showed that Met influenced the fecundity of male mosquitoes by directly upregulating the expression of the ASNase ***,the levels of triacylglycerol and the sizes of lipid droplets were decreased by 72-78 h after eclosion in the fat body cells,whereas both of them increased in Met-depleted male mosquitoes,indicating that Met knockdown reduced lipid *** data demonstrate that Met might influence the egg hatchability of females by regulating lipid metabolism and the development of the male accessory gland in male mosquitoes.

The nucleocapsid protein of rice stripe virus in cell nuclei of vector insect regulates viral replication

Assessment of pesticide contaminated sediment using biological response of tropical chironomid,Chironomus javanus Kiffer as biomarker

To investigate the use of a biomarker for assessment of the effects on the tropical chironomid, Chironomus javanus (C. javanus), Kiffer of sediment contaminated with an insecticide (chlorpyrifos).MethodsA wide range of biological responses to the tropical chironomid exposed were measured, including survival, growth rate and Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) *** measured median lethal concentration (96 h LC50) of chlorpyrifos to C. javanus was 0.056 (95% CI 0.024-0.124) μg/kg. For sub-chronic levels of chlorpyrifos between 0.001 and 0.25 μg/kg administered for 10 days, the effects on the growth of C. javanus were reduced (larva size, head structure width and dry weight) at the significance level (P study demonstrated that C. javanus was sensitive when exposed to chlorpyrifos. This species could serve as a potential biomarker for assessing pesticide contamination at low environmental persistence and provides limited effects data on the sensitivity of tropical biota to contaminants for ecological risk assessment of organophosphate pesticides in the tropical aquatic ecosystem.
