In this paper, continuous time-varying stabilizing controllers for the type of general nonholonomic systems proposed and treated in part 1 are designed using the fully actuated system(FAS) approach. The key step is to differentiate the first scalar equation, and by control of the obtained second-order scalar system, a proportional plus integral feedback form for the first control variable is obtained. With the solution to this designed second-order scalar system, the rest equations in the nonholonomic system form an independent time-varying subsystem which is then handled by the FAS approach. The overall designed controller contains an almost arbitrarily chosen design parameter, and is proven to guarantee the uniformly and globally exponential stability of the closed-loop system. The proposed approach is simple and effective,and is demonstrated with a practical example of ship control.

Background The thirteen-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine(PCV13)is not included in the national immu-nization program and is administered voluntarily with informed consent in China.In preparation for assessing the impact of pilot introduction in Hainan Province,we conducted a carriage study among children under 5 years of age from four locations in Hainan Province,China.Methods From March to June 2022,nasopharyngeal(NP)swabs,collected from healthy children aged younger than 59 months who lived in the 4 different locations(Haikou,Wanning,Baisha and Qiongzhong)in Hainan Province,were tested for pneumococcus using conventional culture.Pneumococcal isolates were serotyped using the Quel-lung reaction.Risk factors associated with pneumococcal colonization were assessed using univariate analysis and multivariable logistic regression adjusting for age,daycare attendance and other factors.Results Pneumococcus was isolated in 710(30.4%)of the 2333 children enrolled.Of 737 pneumococci,29 serotypes were identifed;60.9%were PCV13 serotypes;the most common vaccine serotypes were 6B(20.4%),19F(13.0%),6A(11.9%)and 23F(6.1%);and the most common nonvaccine serotypes were 23A(12.9%),34(6.1%)and nontypeable(NT)pneumococci(5.6%).Children vaccinated with PCV13 had lower carriage(17.7%vs 32.5%;P=0.0001)and fewer PCV13 serotypes(41.9%vs 62.7%;P=0.0017)compared to unimmunized children.After adjustment,NP carriage Was higher among children attending daycare(aOR=2.3,95%CI:1.7-3.2),living in rural areas(aOR=1.4,95%CI:1.1-1.8),living with siblings(aOR=1.3,95%CI:1.0-1.6)and whose mothers had completed senior high/technical sec-ondary school(aOR=1.5,95%CI:1.1-2.0).In contrast,completion of 3-4 doses of PCV13 were associated with a lower carriage rate(aOR=0.6,95%CI:0.4-0.9).Conclusions We established the baseline of pneumococcal carriage,serotype distribution and PCV13 immuni-zation rates among healthy children under 5 years of age in Hainan Province,prior to the introduction of PCV13 into the national immunization program.The high proport

What is already known about this topic?The inclusion of meningococcal vaccines in the National Immunization Program(NIP)over several years has significantly reduced the incidence of meningococcal meningitis in China to historic lows.Worldwide,there has been a diversification of meningococcal serogroups,leading to a shift in dominant serogroups in China from serogroup A to serogroups C and B,accompanied by a rise in reports of serogroups Y and W.What is added by this report?An outbreak of serogroup Y Neisseria meningitidis(Nm)in a secondary vocational school involved a single confirmed severe case and 24 individuals with laboratory-confirmed Nm carriage.Epidemiological investigation revealed that the outbreak was localized to the classroom of the confirmed case.Prolonged close contact within a confined space was identified as a significant risk factor for Nm transmission.The genotype sequence identified was type 1655(ST-1655),which is categorized under clonal complex 23(CC-23)and bears resemblance to 8 previously confirmed cases of serogroup Y meningococcal meningitis within Guangdong Province.This suggests that serogroup Y infections continue to sporadically emerge and have become prevalent strains.What are the implications for public health practice?This outbreak underscores the critical need to enhance surveillance of meningococcal serogroups and population carrier,and advocate for vaccination with MenY-containing vaccines.

Background Brucellosis is a severe zoonotic disease that is often overlooked,particularly in impoverished countries.Timely identification of focal complications in brucellosis is crucial for improving treatment outcomes.However,there is currently a lack of established indicators or biomarkers for diagnosing these complications.Therefore,this study aimed to investigate potential warning signs of focal complications in human brucellosis,with the goal of providing practical parameters for clinicians to aid in the diagnosis and management of patients.Methods A multi-center cross-sectional study was conducted in China from December 2019 to August 2021.The study aimed to investigate the clinical characteristics and complications of patients with brucellosis using a ques-tionnaire survey and medical record system.The presence of warning signs for complications was assessed using univariate and multivariate logistic regression models.Receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves and the area under the curve(AUC)were used for variable screening and model evaluation.Results A total of 880 participants diagnosed with human brucellosis were enrolled.The median age of the patients Was 50 years[interquartile range(IQR):41.5-58.0],and 54.8%had complications.The most common organ system affected by complications was the osteoarticular system(43.1%),with peripheral arthritis(30.0%),spondylitis(16.6%),paravertebral abscess(5.0%),and sacroilitis(2.7%)being the most prevalent.Complications in other organ systems included the genitourinary system(4.7%),respiratory system(4.7%),and hematologic system(4.6%).Several fac-tors were found to be associated with focal brucellosis.These factors included a long delay in diagnosis odds ratio(OR)=3.963,95%confidence interval(CI):1.906-8.238 for>90 daysl,the presence of underlying disease(OR=1.675,95%CI:1.176-2.384),arthralgia(OR=3.197,95%CI:1.986-5.148),eye bulging pain(OR=3.482,95%CI:1.349-8.988),C-reactive protein(CRP)>10 mg/L(OR=1.910,95%CI:1.310-2.784)and erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR)el

In this paper, a type of general nonholonomic systems is proposed, which contains both the Brockett’s two example systems, and their extended n-dimensional chained forms, as special cases. For the stabilization of such systems, a stabilizing controller is proposed based on the fully actuated system(FAS)approach, which is discontinuous at the origin but time-invariant when the open-loop system is time-invariant,and drives the feasible trajectories of the system to the origin exponentially. Furthermore, the proposed FAS approach is also extended to the sub-normal system case and the time-delay system case.

Objective Combination immunotherapy strategies targeting OX40,a co-stimulatory molecule that can enhance antitumor immunity by modulating the proliferation,differentiation,and effector function of tumor-infiltrating T cells,have attracted much attention for their excellent therapeutic effects.In this study,we aimed to evaluate the antitumor efficacy of combined anti-OX40 and hepatitis B core viruslike particles(HBc VLPs)therapy using a mouse colon cancer model.Methods Humanized B-h OX40 mice were injected subcutaneously with MC38 colon tumor cells and treated with HBc VLPs+anti-h OX40 antibody.Tumor growth was monitored.Flow cytometric analysis was performed to evaluate the populations of T cell subsets in the tumors.Results The combination of anti-OX40 with HBc VLPs resulted in a significant delay in tumor growth,suggesting that a potent antitumor immunity was induced by the combination therapy.Further studies revealed that HBc VLPs+anti-OX40 treatment induced a significant increase in effector T cells(Teffs)and a significant decrease in regulatory T cells(Tregs)in the tumor microenvironment(TME),which accounted for the synergistic antitumor effect of anti-OX40 in combination with HBc VLPs.Conclusion Combination therapy of anti-h OX40 and HBc VLPs provides synergistic antitumor activity in colon cancer-bearing mice,which may represent a potential design strategy for cancer immunotherapy.

Fast and high fidelity quantum control is the key technology of quantum computing. The hybrid system composed of the nitrogen-vacancy center and nearby Carbon-13 nuclear spin is expected to solve this problem. The nitrogen-vacancy center electron spin enables fast operations for its strong coupling to the control field, whereas the nuclear spins preserve the coherence for their weak coupling to the environment. In this paper, we describe a strategy to achieve time-optimal control of the Carbon-13 nuclear spin qubit by alternating controlling the nitrogen-vacancy center electron spin as an actuator. We transform the qubit gate operation into a switched system. By using the maximum principle, we study the minimum time control of the switched system and obtain the time-optimal control of the qubit gate operation. We show that the X gate and Y gate operations are within 10μs while the fidelity reaches 0.995.
