Dear Editor, Phenotypic drug discovery, which observes compound effects on physiology,has given way to targeting specific molecules, but has revived by using modern methods to find drugs based on therapeutic outcomes in disease models(Vincent et al., 2022). Osteoarthritis(OA) is a prevalent chronic joint disorder, primarily affecting knee joints, with osteoclast activation due to low-grade inflammation resulting in increased bone resorption and structural changes in the joint(Katz et al.,2021).

Dear Editor,The regulatory role of herbal sRNAs in humans and animals is an interesting research ***,current evidence is insufficient to conclude that herbal sRNAs are novel precision medicines.I previously showed that HJT-sRNA-m1-HJT-sRNA-m8,identified as herbal sRNAs previously (Du et al.,2019),may be derived from humans and/or animals(Lu,2023).To minimize errors during herbal sRNA analysis,I provided a list of matters needing special attention and proposed problem-solving solutions for researchers working on sRNA cross-kingdom regulation (Lu,2023).

Cough, as a defensive reflux mechanism, removes foreign objects and secretions from bronchi and bron- chioles of airways. Zataria multiflora is a popular plant for treatment of cough in Iranian traditional med- icine. The aim of this review was to evaluate the potency of Z. multiflora as an alternative treatment in management of acute cough and its possible mechanisms of action. Here the authors compiled informa- tion about Z. multiflora in the treatment of cough from all accessible resources and books. The results of this investigation showed that there were five clinical studies that evaluated the efficacy of Z. multiflora essential oil or extract alone （n = 1 ）, in combination with Althaea officinalis （n = 2） or Foeniculum vulgate essential oil （n = 1 ）, in the form of syrup （n = 3）, oral drop （n = 1 ） and soft capsule （n = 1 ）, for the treatment of acute cough in comparison with placebo or synthetic drugs （bromhexine, dextromethorphan and clobutinol）. All clinical studies confirmed the efficacy ofZ multiflora in the amelioration of acute cough in pediatric （n = 1） and adult patients （n = 4） without any adverse effects. Different mechanisms, such as anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antimicrobial, relaxant and immune-enhancement, may be responsible for the efficacy of Z. multiflora in cough relief. Other clinical trials can be performed with Z. multiflora in com- bination with ivy leaf extract or primrose root extract on patients with cough.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus type 2(SARS-CoV-2)is a novel coronavirus identified at the end of *** is recognized as the causative agent of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).Flavonoids have been shown to exhibit therapeutical effect on complications related to *** present study reviews possible therapeutic benefits of flavonoids on *** Web of Science,PubMed,Scopus,and Google Scholar were searched using keywords:“COVID-19”,“SARS-CoV-2”,“Kaempferol”and“Quercetin”in the Title/*** published articles in the English language until August 2020 were *** and quercetin showed antiviral properties such as inhibition of protein kinase B and phosphorylation of protein kinase and blocking effects on a selective channel(3a channel)expressed in SARS-CoV infected *** also reduced the level of reactive oxygen species,expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase,pro-inflammatory mediators including TNF-α,IL-1α,IL-1β,IL-6,IL-10,and IL-12 p70,and *** and quercetin might exert beneficial effects in the control or treatment of COVID-19 because of their antiviral,antioxidant,anti-inflammatory,and immunomodulatory effects.

In traditional medicine and ethnomedicine,medicinal plants have long been recognized as the basis for materials in therapeutic applications *** particular,the remarkable curative effect of traditional Chinese medicine during corona virus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic has attracted extensive attention *** plants have,therefore,become increasingly popular among the ***,with increasing demand for and profit with medicinal plants,commercial fraudulent events such as adulteration or counterfeits sometimes occur,which poses a serious threat to the clinical outcomes and interests of *** rapid advances in artificial intelligence,machine learning can be used to mine information on various medicinal plants to establish an ideal resource *** herein present a review that mainly introduces common machine learning algorithms and discusses their application in multi-source data analysis of medicinal *** combination of machine learning algorithms and multi-source data analysis facilitates a comprehensive analysis and aids in the effective evaluation of the quality of medicinal *** findings of this review provide new possibilities for promoting the development and utilization of medicinal plants.

Myrtus communis is an important plant in the treatment of many different diseases. The aim of this review was to determine the importance of M. communis essential oil in the treatment of hemorrhoids. For preparing this manuscript, the information was extracted from different resources. The results of clinical studies showed that M. communis essential oil（lotion or ointment） can significantly improve bleeding, permanent pain, pain during defecation, anal irritation, anal itching and anal heaviness in patients with hemorrhoids types I and II. M. communis was also effective in treating patients who did not respond to current chemical treatments（antihemorrhoids ointment）. Further clinical studies should look into designing a suppository form of M. communis essential oil and compare its effect with the lotion and ointment forms.

Seventeen novel ilexgenin A hybrids（lA-aspirin） and（IA-NO）,as donor hybrids（IA-NO will release NO in vivo and function as NO donor）,were designed and synthesized in order to develop new multi-targeting agents for the treatment of platelet *** in vitro activities against ADP,AA and thrombin were *** a result,IA hybrids achieved substantial increases in the three tested pathways compared with ***,the most potent hybrid compounds 6d and 14d displayed about 8-fold higher potency than aspirin,and 3-fold higher potency than the simultaneous administration of aspirin and IA in inhibiting ADP-induced aggregation with IC_（50） values of 0.15 mmol/L and 0.14 mmol/L,respectively. The results suggest these IA hybrids are good candidates for multi-target therapies,and especially,may be considered as promising ADP agonists.

The management of acute ischemic stroke remains challenging due to its abrupt onset and the narrow treatment window,resulting in high rates of disability and *** therapy for neuroprotection and neurorepair strategies provided new hopes for subacute stroke *** we designed a multistage nanodelivery system that matches the unique microenvironment of the subacute phase of stroke,which utilizes calixarene as a building block to effectively load the neuroprotective drug *** calixarene is designed with glycosidic linkages targeting the glucose transporter 1 (GLUT1)on the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and azo bonds that are responsive to hypoxic ***,the decomposed calixarene molecules themselves possess intrinsic bio-activation to modulate inflammatory responses,achieving a multistage therapeutic approach that transitions from targeting to release and finally to *** approach combines anti-inflammation and neuroprotection,providing a multi-level treatment *** system was validated in a rat model of permanent middle cerebral artery occlusion (pMCAO),demonstrating that intravenous administration of the nanodelivery system repairs brain damage and improves motor function 24 h post-pMCAO *** work offers a precise and integrative strategy for stroke patients missing the acute therapy window to improve functional recovery and enhance the effect of comprehensive treatment.
