Plasma-Assisted Chemical Vapor Deposition of Titanium Oxide Films by Dielectric Barrier Discharge in TiCl_4/O_2/N_2 Gas Mixtures

Low-pressure dielectric barrier discharge（DBD） TiCl4/O2and N2 plasmas have been used to deposit titanium oxide films at different power supply driving frequencies. A homemade large area low pressure DBD reactor was applied, characterized by the simplicity of the experimental set-up and a low consumption of feed gas and electric power, as well as being easy to operate. Atomic force microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy,and contact angle measurements have been used to characterize the deposited films. Experimental results show all deposited films are uniform and hydrophilic with a contact angle of about 15 *** to titanium oxide films deposited in TiCl4/O2gas mixtures, those in TiCl4/O2/N2gas mixtures are much more stable. The contact angle of titanium oxide films in TiCl4/O2/N2gas mixtures with the addition of 50% N2 and 20% TiCl4 is still smaller than 20 o, while that of undoped titanium oxide films is larger than 64 owhen they are measured after one week. The low-pressure TiCl4/O2plasmas consist of pulsed glow-like discharges with peak widths of several microseconds, which leads to the uniform deposition of titanium oxide films. Increasing a film thickness over several hundreds of nm leads to the film’s fragmentation due to the over-high film stress. Optical emission spectra（OES） of TiCl4/O2DBD plasmas at various power supply driving frequencies are presented.

MCM-41 supported nano-sized CuO-CeO2 for catalytic combustion of chlorobenzene

In this paper,MCM-41 was synthesized by a soft template technique and MCM-41 supported CuO-CeO2 nano-sized catalysts with different Cu/Ce molar ratios were prepared by a deposition-precipitation method.N2 adsorption,HRTEM-EDS,H2-TPR,XPS characterization,as well as catalytic activity and durability tests for the catalytic combustion of chlorobenzene(CB)were conducted to explore the relationship between the structure and catalytic performance of the *** is revealed that cuCe(6:1)/MCM-41 has the highest activity and can completely catalyze the degradation of CB at 260℃.The reasons for the high activity of the catalysts are as follows:MCM-41,a type of mesoporous material which has large pore size and large specific surface area,is suitable as a catalyst *** average diameter of nano-sized CuO and CeO2 particles is about 3-5 nm and adding CeO2 improves the dispersion of active component CuO,which are highly and evenly dispersed on the surface of *** results also explain why MCM-41 supported CuO-CeO2 with appropriate proportion can highly enhance the catalytic *** reason is that CeO2 acting as an oxygen-rich material can improve the mobility of oxygen species through continuous redox between Ce4^+and Ce3^+,and improve the catalytic performance of CuO for CB ***,CuCe(6:1)/MCM-41 also displays good durability for CB combustion,both in the humid condition and in the presence of benzene,making it a promising catalytic material for the elimination of chlorinated VOCs.

Singlet relaxation dynamics and long triplet lifetimes of thiophene-coupled perylene diimides dyads:New insights for high efficiency organic solar cells

In the active layer of organic solar cells(OSCs),the lifetime of triplet excitons is one of the decisive factors in the diffusion length and therefore has important impact on the power conversion efficiency of the ***,we have investigated singlet excited state relaxation dynamics and their triplet exciton lifetimes of two thiophene-coupled perylene diimides(PDI)dyads(2 PDI-Th and fused-2 PDI-Th),in order to provide a unique explanation in depth on their different performances in OSC *** the transient absorption(TA)spectra,the singlet excitons of 2 PDI-Th form excimers in the time scale of 1.5 *** the excimers go into the triplet state via intersystem crossing(ISC).In fused-2 PDI-Th,triplet excitons are generated directly from the singlet excited excitons via the efficient *** functional theory(DFT)calculations further support the formation of *** results indicate that 2 PDI-Th exhibits an H-typed molecular configuration which is beneficial to form the excimers,while fused-2 PDITh gives a twisted X-shaped configuration in the optimized ground and excited *** steady-state emission spectra,2 PDI-Th shows abroad and featureless spectral characteristics of the excimers with a decay time of 840 ps,which is much shorter than those of PDI(5.5 ns)and fused-2 PDI-Th(3.3 ns).The triplet lifetime(67 ms)of fused-2 PDI-Th is factor of 3 longer than that of 2 PDI-Th(22 ms).These results demonstrate that ring-fused structure is an efficient strategy to eliminate excimer formation and prolong the lifetime of triplet excitons,which provides a new insight for design of optoelectronic molecules for high efficiency organic solar cells.

Design, Synthesis, and Antiviral Activity of Novel Chalcone Derivatives Containing a Purine Moiety

To find new antiviral agents,novel chalcone derivatives containing a purine moiety were designed and synthesized by combining bioactive *** antiviral activities of the derivatives against tobacco mosaic virus （TMV） and cucumber mosaic virus （CMV） were *** showed that most of the derivatives showed antiviral *** 3n and 3p exhibited excellent curative,protective and inactivation activities against TMV,with the EC50values of 452.4,416.2,241.2 and 438.7,418.6,261.7 μg·mL-1,respectively,which were better than those of ribavirin （585.8,436.0 and 268.7 μg·mL-1）.Compounds 3n and 3p showed remarkable curative and protective activities against *** 3n showed a moderate affinity to TMV coat protein,with binding constant Ka and Kd values of 1.5 × 104 L·mol-1 and 79.8 μmol·L-1,*** findings provided an important structural insight for further designs of highly active chalcone derivatives and a basis for further study on their mechanism of action.

Numerical investigation of film forming characteristics and mass transfer enhancement in horizontal polycondensation kettle

The process of producing high viscosity polyester by transesterification polycondensation needs to adjust the operating conditions and equipment structure of pre-polycondensation kettle and final polycondensation kettle to realize process *** view of this,the fluid volume function method of computational fluid dynamics numerical simulation was used to investigate the film formation and surface renewal characteristics of horizontal polycondensation kettle under different operating conditions,including viscosity,rotating speed and liquid *** results show that the viscosity and rotating speed were positively correlated with the film area and surface renewal in the pre-polycondensation ***,increasing the viscosity by several orders of magnitude in the final polycondensation kettle,the larger the film area and film thickness,but the overall surface renewal of the disk ***,a hexagonal hole disk is *** comparison,it is found that the film is more uniform,the surface update frequency is higher,and the power consumption can be reduced by more than 20%.

Searching for novel materials via 4f chemistry

4f chemistry studies the chemical bonding characteristics of fifteen lanthanide (Ln) elements in the periodic table and their wide applications in materials sciences and engineering, which forms the scientific fundamentals ofⅥperiodic elements in the periodic table of elements. Orbital hybridization modes of Ln elements clarify their chemical bonding nature in all reaction systems. Wide coordination number (CN) option, ranging from 2 to 16, is the reason why Ln elements are the treasure of new materials, therefore, searching for novel materials may be well carried out via the rational design of coordination environment of central Ln cations to stabilize their variable energy states. Balance utilization of Ln elements is dependent on their coordination architecture in the crystallographic frame, Ln elements can be replaced by non-Ln elements when CN <10, and when CN≥10 expensive Ln elements can be replaced by those cheaper ones.

An AIPE-active fluorinated cationic Pt(Ⅱ)complex for efficient detection of picric acid in aqueous media

A novel cationic Pt(Ⅱ)complex 2 with 2-(2,4-difluorophenyl)pyridine as the cyclometalating ligand and 1,10-phenanthroline as the auxiliary ligand has been synthesized and fully *** complex exhibits much higher aggregation-induced phosphorescent emission activity than that of a nonfluorinated complex 1 in CH_(3)CN/H_(2)*** complex 2 demonstrates efficient detection on picric acid(PA)in CH_(3)CN/H_(2)O,providing a high quenching constant(K_(SV)=2.3×10^(4) L/mol)and a low limit of detection(LOD=0.26μmol/L).In addition,complex 2 shows high selectivity for detection of PA in real water *** functional theory calculations and proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectra suggest that the detection mechanism is attributed to the photo-induced electron transfer.
