Objective:To study the changes of CT dynamic contrast-enhanced scan parameters in patients with lung cancer before and after radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and their correlation with serum tumor ***:A total of 60 patients who were diagnosed with lung adenocarcinoma in the Second Hospital of Yulin City between May 2015 and January 2017 were selected and randomly divided into the RFA group and control group who received RFA combined with GP chemotherapy and GP chemotherapy alone respectively. Before and after treatment, CT dynamic contrast-enhanced scan was performed to calculate blood perfusion parameters, and serum was collected to determine the contents of cancer cell proliferation activity molecules, angiogenesis molecules and cell invasion ***: After treatment, BF, BV, MTT and PS levels as well as serum CYFRA21-1, SCC-Ag, TK-1, HE-4, TPS, HDGF, VEGF, PCDGF, bFGF, NGAL, MMP7, MMP9 and OPN contents of both groups of patients were significantly lower than those before treatment, and BF, BV, MTT and PS levels as well as serum CYFRA21-1, SCC-Ag, TK-1, HE-4, TPS, HDGF, VEGF, PCDGF, bFGF, NGAL, MMP7, MMP9 and OPN contents of RFA group after treatment were significantly lower than those of control ***:The changes of CT dynamic contrast-enhanced scan parameters in patients with lung cancer before and after radiofrequency ablation suggest that the blood perfusion significantly reduces and is closely related to cancer cell proliferation and invasion as well as angiogenesis.

Syntheses, Structures and Magnetic Properties of Two Coordination Polymers Based on 2,2-Biphenyldicarboxylate Ligand

Two coordination polymers {[Co3L3（Me2NH）2]·（Me2NH）}n（1） and [CuL（bpy）],（2）（L=2,2＇-biphenyl dicarboxylate ion, bpy=4,4＇-bipyridine） were obtained and characterized. Compound 1 was synthesised via solvotherreal method, with the L ligands adopting syn-syn-μ2-η1：η1- and μ2-η2-coordination modes and Co（II） centers being linked to form a 1D coordination chain with trinuclear Co3 cluster as sub-units. Compound 2 was synthesized at room temperature, with the L ligand chelating the Cu（II） centers to form a 1D chain, which was further linked by the auxiliary 4,4＇-bpy ligand to form a 3D coordination network. The results of variable temperature susceptibility studies reveal that there were ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic interactions between the paramagnetic metal centers in compounds 1 and 2, respectively.

Two lanthanide coordination polymers, [Eu（HL）（L）（H2O）2]n（1） and [Tb（H0.5L）2]n（2）, based on bifunctional 5-（1H-imidazol-1-yl） isophthalic acid（H2L）, are hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by both single-crystal and powder X-ray diffraction analyses, and FT-IR. In compound 1, the basic inorganic building unit of the coordination network is the dinuclear [Eu2（COO）6] cluster. Each [Eu2（COO）6] cluster connects four HL^- ligands and each HLligand links two [Eu2（COO）6] clusters, resulting in a 2D coordination layer. The adjacent 2 D layers are further connected via neighboring inter-layer hydrogen bonds to give a 3D supramolecular structure. In compound 2, the Tb^3＋ is coordinated to six oxygen atoms. Each Tb^3＋ ion connects six ligands and each ligand links three Tb^3＋ ions, leading to a 3D coordination polymeric network which exhibits remarkably high thermal stability up to 500℃. Furthermore, due to the successful incorporation of Tb^3＋, compound 2 displays characteristic luminescent emission in the solid state at room temperature. The combination of high thermal stability and fluorescent property of compound 2 would make it as a promising light-emitting material.

Background:The corneal cross-linking(CXL)photochemical reaction is essentially dependent on oxygen and hypothermia,which usually leads to higher dissolved oxygen levels in tissues,with potentially greater oxygen availability for ***,we evaluate whether a reduction of corneal temperature during CXL may increase oxygen availability and therefore enhance the CXL biomechanical stiffening effect in ex vivo porcine ***:One hundred and twelve porcine corneas had their epithelium manually debrided before being soaked with 0.1%hypo-osmolaric *** corneas were equally assigned to one of four *** 2 and 4 underwent accelerated epithelium-off CXL using 9 mW/cm^(2) irradiance for 10 min,performed either in a cold room temperature(group 2,4℃)or at standard room temperature(group 4,24℃).Groups 1 and 3 served as non-crosslinked,temperature-matched *** a stress-strain extensometer,the elastic moduli of 5-mm wide corneal strips were analyzed as an indicator of corneal ***:Accelerated epithelium-off CXL led to significant increases in the elastic modulus between 1 and 5%of strain when compared to non-cross-linked controls(Proom temperature(P=0.969).Conclusions:Although initial oxygen availability should be increased under hypothermic conditions,it does not appear to play a significant role in the biomechanical strengthening effect of epithelium-off CXL accelerated protocols in ex vivo porcine corneas.

The Study of the Antimicrobial Properties of Selected Engineering Materials’ Surfaces

This paper studies the antimicrobial activity of selected engineering materials surfaces at room and chill temperatures. The antimicrobial effects of selected materials surfaces were evaluated by dropping the test pieces into prepared cultures of Bacillus spp, Escherichia coli, and Staphylococcus aereus isolated from fruits, animal feaces and natural environment respectively. Bacteria count obtained after 0, 30, 60, 90, 120, 180, 240 and 300 minutes at room temperature and chill condition was taken and compared with their initial count. The amount of live bacteria drops by several orders of magnitude, to zero, on metallic copper and brass within 30 to 300 minutes in both room and chill conditions. In contrast, no reduction is seen in the number of colonies of live bacteria on plastics, ceramic and stainless steel in both room and chill conditions. These results suggest that the selection of metallic copper and brass for touch surfaces in hospitals, surfaces exposed to fruit processing and household utensils can materially assist in reducing bacterial contamination, which should lead to a reduction in the transmission of infectious organisms.

AIM： To investigate whether hepatitis B virus （HBV） infection activates DNA damage response and DNA repair cofactors inhibit HBV infection and replication. METHODS： Human hepatocyte cell line HL7702 was studied. Immunoblotting was performed to test the expression of ataxia telangiectasia-mutated （ATM）- Rad3-related protein （ATR）, p21 and the level of phosphorylation of Chkl, p53, H2AX, ATM in HBV-infected or non-infected-cells. Special short RNAi oligos was transfected to induce transient ATR knockdown in HL7702. ATR-ATN chemical inhibitors caffeine （CF） and theophylline （TP）, or Chkl inhibitor 7-hydroxystaurosporine （UCN01） was studied to determine whether they suppress cellular DNA damage response and NG132 inhibits proteasome. RESULTS： The ATR checkpoint pathway, responding to single-strand breaks in DNA, was activated in response to HBV infection. ATR knockdown cells decreased the HBV DNA yields, implying that HBV infection and replication could activate and exploit the activated DNA damage response. CF/TP or UCN01 reduced the HBV DNA yield by 70% and 80%, respectively. HBV abrogated the ATR-dependent DNA damage signaling pathway by degrading p21, and introduction of the p21 protein before HBV infection reduced the HBV DNA yield. Consistent with this result, p21 accumulation after NG132 treatment also sharply decreased the HBV DNA yield. CONCLUSION： HBV infection can be treated with therapeutic approaches targeting host cell proteins by inhibiting a cellular gene required for HBV replication or by restoring a response abrogated by HBV, thus providing a potential approach to the prevention and treatment of HBV infection.

Abdominal pain is a major clinical problem in patients with chronic pancreatitis. The cause of pain is usually multifactorial with a complex interplay of factors contributing to a varying degree to the pain in an individual patient and, therefore, a rigid standardized approach for pain control tends to lead to suboptimal results. Pain management usually proceeds in a stepwise approach beginning with general lifestyle recommendations. Low fat diet, alcohol and smoking cessation are encouraged. Analgesics alone are needed in almost all patients. Maneuvers aimed at suppression of pancreatic secretion are routinely tried. Patients with ongoing symptoms may be candidates for more invasive options such as endoscopic therapy, and resective or drainage surgery. The role of pain modifying agents (antidepressants, gabapentin, peregabalin), celiac plexus block, antioxidants, octreotide and total pancreatectomy with islet cell auto transplantation remains to be determined.

BACKGROUND： The p25-activated cyclin-dependent protein kinase 5 （Cdk5） may induce neuronal cell death and cause the development of dementia following cerebral ischemia and reperfusion. OBJECTIVE： To observe changes in the expression of Cdk5 and p25 in hippocampal tissue of vascular dementia mice at different time points following cerebral ischemia and reperfusion. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING： A randomized, controlled animal experiment was performed in the clinical trial center of Hebei Provincial People＇s Hospital between September 2007 and October 2008. MATERIALS： Cdk5 rabbit anti-mouse polyclonal antibody, p35 rabbit anti-mouse polyclonal antibody, and β-actin mouse monoclonal antibody were purchased from Santa Cruz Biotechnology, Inc., USA; horseradish peroxidase-labeled goat anti-rabbit IgG and horseradish peroxidase-labeled goat anti-mice IgG were offered by Beijing Zhongshan Geldenbridye Biotechnology Co.,Ltd., China; the protein quantitative kit was produced by Applygen Gene Technology Corp., Beijing, China; cDNA reverse transcription and PCR amplification reagents were products of TianGen＆ Biotech （Beijing） Co.,Ltd., China. METHODS： One hundred and sixty male Kunming mice were randomly divided into two groups： a sham-operated group （n = 65） and a model group （n = 95）. Vascular dementia was induced with three periods of transient ischemia and reperfusion of the bilateral common carotid arteries. In the sham-operated group, the bilateral common carotid arteries were not blocked. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES： Behavioral tests were done at four and six weeks post surgery. Pathological changes in the hippocampal CA1 region were observed with hematoxylin-eosin staining Cdk5 mRNA expression was examined by RT-PCR, and Western blots were used to evaluate Cdk5 and p25 expression. Aging is considered an irreversible biological process and also a major risk factor for a spectrum of geriatricdiseases. Advanced age-related decline in physiological functions, such as neurodegeneration, development ofcardiovascular disease, endocrine and metabolic dysfunction, and neoplastic transformation, has become thefocus in aging research. Natural aging is not regarded as a programmed process. However, accelerated agingdue to inherited genetic defects in patients of progeria is programmed and resembles many aspects ofnatural aging. Among several premature aging syndromes, Werner syndrome (WS) and Hutchinson–Gilfordprogeria syndrome (HGPS) are two broadly investigated diseases. In this review, we discuss how stem cellaging in WS helps us understand the biology of aging. We also discuss briefly how the altered epigeneticlandscape in aged cells can be reversed to a “juvenile” state. Lastly, we explore the potential application ofthe latest genomic editing technique for stem cell-based therapy and regenerative medicine in the context of aging.

Splenic lymphoma with villous lymphocytes （SLVL） or splenic marginal zone lymphoma with circulating villous lymphocytes is rare, and prolymphocytic transformation of SLVL is rarer. At present, only one case of SLVL with t（8;14）（q24;q32） translocation has been reported. In this study, we report a case of B- lymphoproliferative disorder with villous lymphocytes harboring t（8;14）（q24;q32） chromosome translocation that we inclined to SLVL with a prolymphocytic transformation. A 73-year-old female showed marked hepatosplenomegaly and high lymphocytosis （lymphocytes 〉 200 × 10^9/L）. The abnormal lymphocytes had short coarse villi and round nuclei with prominent nucleoli. The immunophenotypes showed CD19^＋, CD20^＋, HLA- DR^＋, CD22^＋, CD5^＋, Kappa^＋, CD25^dim, CD71^dim, Lambda, CD7, CD10-, CD23 , CD34, CD33, CD13 , CD14, CDll7, CD64, CD103, and CD11c-. The karyotype showed complex abnormality： 46XX,＋ 3,-10, t（8;14）（q24; q32）lll]/46XX[9]. The cytoplasmic projection, immunological characteristics, and trisomy 3 chromosome abnormality supported the diagnosis of SLVL. However, the presence of prominent nucleoli and high lymphocytosis suggested prolymphocytic transformation, probably as a result of t（8,14） chromosome translocation. In this report, we described an unusual case of B-lymphoproliferative disorder with villous lymphocytes harboring t（8;14）（q24;q32） translocation, which could provide help in the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of B-lymphocytic proliferative diseases.
