Sugarcane crop occupies an area of about 23.78 million hectares in 103 countries,and an estimated production of 1.66 billion tons,adding to this volume more than 6%to 17%concerning residual biomass resulting from *** destination of this residual biomass is a major challenge to managers of *** are at least two alternatives which are reduction in residue production and increased output in electricity *** two conflicting objectives are mathematically modeled as a bi-objective *** study developed a bi-objective mathematical model for choosing sugarcane varieties that result in maximum revenue from electricity sales and minimum gathering cost of sugarcane harvesting residual *** approach used to solve the proposed model was based on theε-constraints *** were performed using real data from sugarcane varieties and costs and showed effectiveness of model and method *** experiments showed the possibility of increasing net revenue from electricity sale,i.e.,already discounted the cost increase with residual biomass gathering,in up to 98.44%.

Background: Basal cell carcinoma (BCC)is a common malignant skin neoplasm. The surface of the caruncle contains sebaceous glands, hair follicles, and lacrimal and sweat gland elements. Consequently, the caruncle may spawn any neoplasm that occurs in the conjunctiva, skin, or lacrimal gland. We report a patient with a primary BCC located on the lacrimal caruncle. Methods: An 80-year-old man with a 5-month history of a gradually enlarging left caruncular neoplasm was seen. The lesion was nodular and irregularly brown-black colored, with no involvement of adjacent conjunctiva or skin. He had a history of sun exposure, but no personal or family history of other malignant neoplasms. Results: The mass was excised completely. Histopathologic examination revealed a BCC originating in the basal layer of the conjunctival epithelium. No tumor recurrence has been noted after 7 years of follow-up. Primary BCC of the caruncle is unusual, and only four cases have been described in the PubMed. BCC should be considered in the differential diagnosis of caruncle and adjacent skin lesions.

Aim:To report an unusual case of cutaneous presentation on the eyelid of systemic(or nodal),CD30+,anaplastic large-cell lymphoma(ALCL).Methods:A 39-year-old man presented with a rapidly growing exophytic mass on the left upper eyelid,with a protuberant,ulcerated aspect and with *** patient showed lymph node involvement 3 months after the appearance of the lesion on the eyelid(the lesion itself appeared 1 week before examination).Results:The histopathologic and immunohistoc hemical diagnosis was ALCL,T-cell phenotype,strongly positive for CD43 and CD30,and negative for CD3,anaplastic lymphoma kinase(ALK),and B-cell *** was by radiotherapy and,later,chemotherapy(cyclophosphamide,adriamycin,vincristine,and prednisolone,CHOP)for skin recurrences and lymphadenopathies over 5 *** has been no recurrence for more than 6 ***:Primary,systemic,CD30+,ALK-negative,ALCL presentations generally have a poor prognosis and tend to occur in older individuals,although the clinical outcome is highly variable and difficult to predict in individual *** three cases of ALCL have been described in the ocular adnexae and none was ALK-negative.

Emerging and re-emerging zoonotic diseases represent a public health challenge of international *** include a large group of neglected tropical diseases(NTDs),many of which are of zoonotic *** disease 201g(COVID-19),another emerging zoonotic disease,has just increased the stakes *** NTDs are subject to the impact of some of the very same human-related activities triggering other emerging and re-emerging diseases,including COVID-19,severe acute respiratory syndrome(SARS),bird flu and swine *** is conceivable that COVID-19 will exacerbate the NTDs,as it will divert much needed financial and human *** is considerable concern that recent progress achieved with control and elimination efforts will be *** potential strategies will need to reconsider the determinants of health in NTDs in order to galvanize efforts and come up with a comprehensive,well defined programme that will set the stage for an effective multi-sectorial *** this Commentary,we propose areas of potential synergies between the COVID-19 pandemic control efforts other health and non-health sector initiatives and NTD control and elimination programmes.

Background:The damage inflicted by the coronavirus diseases 2019(COVID-19)pandemic upon humanity is and will continue to be *** progress made in global health over the past 20 years has reverted and economic growth has already evaporated,giving rise to a global recession,the likes of which we may not have experienced since the Second World *** aim is to draw the attention of the neglected tropical disease(NTD)community towards some of the major emerging economic opportunities which are quickly appearing on the horizon as a result of *** text:This scoping review relied on a literature search comprised of a sample of articles,statements,and press releases on initiatives aimed at mitigating the impact of COVID-19,while supporting economic *** note,the donor scenario and economic development agendas are highly dynamic and expected to change rapidly as the COVID-19 pandemic unfolds,as are donor and lender *** elusions:The NTD community,particularly in low-and middle-income countries(LMICs),will need to work quickly,diligently,and in close collaboration with decision-makers and key stakeholders,across sectors at national and international level to secure its *** so might enhance the odds of grasping potential opportunities to access some of the massive resources that are now available in the form of contributions from corporate foundations,trust funds,loans,debt relieve schemes,and other financial mechanisms,as part of the ongoing and future economic development agendas and public health priorities driven by the COVID-19 *** paper should serve as a starting point for the NTD community to seek much needed financial support in order to sustain and revitalize control and elimination efforts pertaining to NTDs in LMICs.

Agents of human chromoblastomycosis,a skin disease almost exclusively caused by members of the order Chaetothyriales,are assumed to be traumatically inoculated into the skin with sharp environmental materials such as plant thorns or wooden splinters carrying the respective *** the supposition that such fungi should have their main habitat in the environment,we investigated the occurrence of black fungi in living areas of patients with *** South America Fonsecaea agents are prevalent as agents of the disease,while also related Cladophialophora species,known from other types of skin infections,are known from the *** environmental isolates were preliminarily selected as possible agents of chromoblastomycosis,based on *** from ITS sequence data isolates were attributed to the genera Cladophialophora,Cyphellophora,Exophiala,Fonsecaea,Phialophora,and Veronaea.A total of 45 fungi morphologically identified as Fonsecaea or Cladophialophora isolated from debris and thorns of living prickly plants in Brazil were processed for taxonomic *** analysis revealed that the isolates indeed belonged to the Chaetothyriales,but only rarely an agent of chromoblastomycosis was concerned;only two strains of *** and one *** were isolated from debris *** remaining isolates belonged to hitherto unknown molecular siblings of *** novel taxa are introduced.
