Rational design and facet-engineering of nanocrystal is an effective strategy to optimize the catalytic performance of abundant and economic semiconductorbased *** this study,we demonstrate a novel ternary Cu2MoS4 nanotube with the {010} facet exposed,synthesized via a hydrothermal *** with two-dimensional Cu2MoS4 nanosheet with the {001} facet exposed,this one-dimensional nanotube exhibits highly enhanced performance of photodegradation and water *** theoretical calculations and experimental results suggest that the conduction band minimum （CBM） of the {010} facet crystal shows lower potential than that of the {001} *** particular,the up-shifted CBM in Cu2MoS4 nanotube is significantly beneficial for the absorption of dye molecules and reduction of H＋ to *** results may open a new route for realizing high-efficiency photocatalysts based on Cu2MX4 by facet engineering.

Objective To study the chemical constituents from the aerial parts of Hypericum beani/. Methods Various chromatographic techniques were used to separate the constituents and their structures were elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic interpretation. Results Fifteen compounds were isolated from the aerial parts of H. beanii. Their structures were identified as hyperbeanol E （1）, （E）-Iinalool-l-oic acid （2）, （4S,5R）-5-（4＇-methyl-3＇-pentenyl）-4-hydroxy-5-methyl- dihydrofuran-2-one （3）, benzoic acid （4）, 4-（3-O-3＂）-3＂-methylbutenyl-6-phenyl- pyran-2-one （5）, 4-hydroxy-4a,7-dimethoxy-4,4a-dihydrodibenzo-p-dioxJn-2（3H）- one （6）, isoimperatorin （7）, 2,3-dimethoxyxanthone （8）, 3,4-dihydroxy-2- methoxyxanthone （9）, osajaxanthone （10）, nigrolineaxanthone F （1 1）, hypercohone G （12）, betulinic acid （1 3）, oleanolic acid 3.13-caffeate （14）, and isoastilbin （1 5）. Conclusion Compound 1 is a new menthane monoterpene derivative which owns an extra lactone ring. Compounds 2-7 and 10-1 5 are isolated from genus Hypericum linn. for the first time and the other compounds are first obtained from the plants in H. beanii.

The Micro- and Nano-mechanics Working Group of the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics organized a forum to discuss the perspectives, trends, and directions in mechanics of heterogeneous materials in January 2010. The international journal, Acta Mechanica Solida Sinica, is de- voted to all fields of solid mechanics and relevant disciplines in science, technology, and engineering, with a balanced coverage on analytical, experimental, numerical and applied investigations. On the occasion of the 30TM anniversary of Acta Mechanica Solida Sinica, its editor-in-chief, Professor Q.S. Zheng invited some of the forum participants to review the state-of-the-art of mechanics of heterogeneous solids, with a particular emphasis on the recent research development results of Chinese scientists. Their reviews are organized into five research areas as reported in different sections of this paper. ~I firstly brings in fo- cus on micro- and nano-mechanics, with regards to several selective topics, including multiscale coupled models and computational methods, nanocrystal superlattices, surface effects, micromechanical damage mechanics, and microstructural evolution of metals and shape memory alloys. ~II shows discussions on multifield coupled mechanical phenomena, e.g., multi-fields actuations of liquid crystal polymer networks, mechanical behavior of materials under radiations, and micromechanics of heterogeneous materials. In ~III, we mainly address the multiscale mechanics of biological nanocomposites, biological adhesive surface mechanics, wetting and dewetting phenomena on microstructured solid surfaces. The phononic crystals and manipulation of elastic waves were elaborated in ~IV. Finally, we conclude with a series of perspectives on solid mechanics. This review will set a primary goal of future science research and engineering application on solid mechanics with the effort of social and economic development.

Kiwifruit is an extremely perishable fruit;postharvest disease and senescence during storage can reduce the fruit quality,resulting in economic *** research effort has focused on identifying safe and cost-effective ways to preserve fresh *** this end,the present study investigated the effects of alginate oligosaccharide(AOS)soaking treatment on postharvest quality and disease in the‘Bruno’variety of *** involved physiological mechanisms were further *** results showed that AOS did not inhibit the growth of Botrytis cinerea in vitro,the causal agent of gray mold in kiwifruit,but reduced the incidence of gray mold and diameter of lesions of kiwifruit during *** treated with 50 mg·l-1 AOS showed a higher degree of firmness and lower soluble solid content than control fruit treated with distilled ***,AOS treatment inhibited the activity of polygalacturonase and pectinesterase,while enhancing the activity of polyphenoloxidase,l-phenylalanine ammonia lyase andβ-1,3-glucanase related to pathogen defense,and also improved total antioxidant capacity determined by the DPPH,FRAP,and ABTS methods in *** results indicate that 50 mg·l-1 AOS can confer disease resistance in kiwifruit during storage.

The condition of Baiyangdian lake(BYDl) will improve as the Xiongan New Area evolves and fulfills its role of easing overcrowding and supporting economic growth. Water and sediment samples from BYDl were analyzed to provide information on nitrogen(N) contamination in BYDl. The mean ammonium N(NH_4^+-N), nitrate N, and total N concentrations in the water samples were 0.36, 0.12, and 2.22 mg/l, respectively, and the ranges were 0.003–8.38, 0.06–0.30,and 1.25–10.34 mg/l, respectively. The N concentrations in water gradually increased from the north to the south of BYDl. Sediment at 90% of the sampling sites was in or above the moderately contaminated class(1000–2000 mg/kg) defined in US Environmental Protection Agency total N pollution standards. Positive NH_4^+-N fluxes were found for 28 of the 34 sediment core samples, so the potential for NH_4^+-N being released from sediment was relatively high. The NH_4^+-N fluxes were 5.35–48.76 mg/m^2/day, and the mean and maximum fluxes were 8.71 and 48.76 mg/m^2/day, respectively. Benthic organisms will be affected more by NH_4^+-N and NH_3·H_2O in the surface sediment pore water(mean concentrations 4.93 and 0.13 mg/l, respectively) than by the other forms of N.

Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) is a zoonotic pathogen capable of causing severe respiratory disease in humans. Although dromedary camels are considered as a major reservoir host, the MERS-CoV infection dynamics in camels are not fully understood. Through surveillance in Pakistan, nasal (n = 776) and serum (n = 1050)samples were collected from camels between November 2015 and February 2018. Samples were collected from animal markets, free-roaming herds and abattoirs. An in-house ElISA was developed to detect IgG against MERS-CoV. A total of 794 camels were found seropositive for MERS-CoV. Prevalence increased with the age and the highest seroprevalence was recorded in camels aged [ 10 years (81.37%) followed by those aged 3.1–10 years (78.65%) and B 3 years (58.19%).Higher prevalence was observed in female (78.13%) as compared to male (70.70%). Of the camel nasal swabs, 22 were found to be positive by RT-qPCR though with high Ct values. Moreover, 2,409 human serum samples were also collected from four provinces of Pakistan during 2016–2017. Among the sampled population, 840 humans were camel *** we found a high rate of MERS-CoV antibody positive dromedaries (75.62%) in Pakistan, no neutralizing antibodies were detected in humans with and without contact to camels.

Application and future perspective of CRISPR/cas9 genome editing in fruit crops

Fruit crops, including apple, orange, grape,banana, strawberry, watermelon, kiwifruit and tomato, not only provide essential nutrients for human life but also contribute to the major agricultural output and economic growth of many countries and regions in the world. Recent advancements in genome editing provides an unprecedented opportunity for the genetic improvement of these agronomically important fruit crops. Here, we summarize recent reports of applying CRISPR/cas9 to fruit crops,including efforts to reduce disease susceptibility, change plant architecture or flower morphology, improve fruit quality traits, and increase fruit yield. We discuss challenges facing fruit crops as well as new improvements and platforms that could be used to facilitate genome editing in fruit crops, including d cas9-base-editing to introduce desirable alleles and heat treatment to increase editing efficiency. In addition, we highlight what we see as potentially revolutionary development ranging from transgene-free genome editing to de novo domestication of wild relatives. Without doubt, we now see only the beginning of what will eventually be possible with the use of the CRISPR/cas9 toolkit. Efforts to communicate with the public and an emphasis on the manipulation of consumerfriendly traits will be critical to facilitate public acceptance of genetically engineered fruits with this new technology.
