Iron-promoted zirconia-alumina supported Ni catalyst for highly efficient and cost-effective hydrogen production via dry reforming of methane

Developing cost-effective and high-performance catalyst systems for dry reforming of methane(DrM)is crucial for producing hydrogen(H_(2))***,we investigate using iron(Fe)as a promoter and major alumina support in Ni-based catalysts to improve their DrM *** addition of iron as a promotor was found to add reducible iron species along with reducible NiO species,enhance the basicity and induce the deposition of oxidizable *** incorporating 1 wt.%Fe into a 5Ni/10ZrAl catalyst,a higher CO_(2) interaction and formation of reducible"NiO-species having strong interaction with support"was observed,which led to an∼80%H_(2) yield in 420 min of Time on Stream(TOS).Further increasing the Fe content to 2 wt.%led to the formation of additional reducible iron oxide species and a noticeable rise in H_(2) yield up to 84%.Despite the severe weight loss on Fe-promoted catalysts,high H_(2) yield was maintained due to the proper balance between the rate of CH_(4) decomposition and the rate of carbon deposit ***,incorporating 3 wt.%Fe into the 5Ni/10ZrAl catalyst resulted in the highest CO_(2) interaction,wide presence of reducible NiO-species,minimumgraphitic deposit and an 87%H_(2) *** findings suggest that ironpromoted zirconia-alumina-supported Ni catalysts can be a cheap and excellent catalytic system for H_(2) production via DrM.

The Zn(O,S)thin film is considered a most promising candidate for a cadmium-free buffer layer of the Cu(In,Ga)Se_(2)(CIGS)thin-film solar cell due to its advantages of optical responses in the short-wavelength region and adjustable *** this paper,the thin-film growth mechanism and process optimization of Zn(O,S)films fabricated using the chemical bath deposition method are sys-tematically *** thickness and quality of Zn(O,S)films were found to be strongly affected by the concentration variation of the precursor *** was also revealed that different surface morphologies of Zn(O,S)films would appear if the reaction time were changed and,subsequently,the optimum reaction time was *** film-growth curve suggested that the growth rate varied linearly with the deposition temperature and some defects appeared when the temperature was too *** addition,to further improve the film quality,an effective post-treatment approach was proposed and the experimental results showed that the microstructure of the Zn(O,S)thin film was improved by an ammonia etching process followed by an annealing *** com-parison purposes,both Zn(O,S)-based and CdS-based devices were fabricated and *** device with a Zn(O,S)-CIGS solar cell after post-treatment showed near conversion efficiency comparable to that of the device with the CdS-CIGS cell.

Paths to low-cost hydrogen energy at a scale for transportation applications in the USA and China via liquid-hydrogen distribution networks

The cost of delivered H2 using the liquid-distribution pathway will approach$4.3-8.0/kg in the USA and 26-52 rMB/kg in China by around 2030,assuming large-scale ***,hydrogen as an industrial gas and a chemical feedstock has enjoyed a long and successful ***,it has been slow to take off as an energy carrier for transportation,despite its benefits in energy diversity,security and environmental stewardship.A key reason for this lack of progress is that the cost is currently too high to displace petroleum-based *** paper reviews the prospects for hydrogen as an energy carrier for transportation,clarifies the current drivers for cost in the USA and China,and shows the potential for a liquid-hydrogen supply chain to reduce the costs of delivered *** and economic trade-offs between individual steps in the supply chain(***,transportation,refuelling)are examined and used to show that liquid-H2(LH2)distribution approaches offer a path to reducing the delivery cost of H2 to the point at which it could be competitive with gasoline and diesel fuel.

Methane from enteric fermentation is the gas with the greatest environmental impact emitted by ***(Lv)addition to feedstocks could be a strategy to mitigate rumen methane emissions via decreasing the population of methanogenic archaea(MA).Thus,this paper provides the first overview of the effects of Lv supplementation,focusing on the inhibition of methane production,rumen microbiota,and ruminal *** indicated that Lv treatment had a strong anti-methanogenic effect on pure strains of ***,there are uncertainties from in vitro rumen fermentation trials with complex substrates and rumen ***-state fermentation(SSF)has emerged as a cost-effective option to produce *** this way,SSF of agricultural residues as an Lv-carrier supplement in sheep and goats demonstrated a consistent decrease in ruminal methane *** experimental evidence for in vitro conditions showed that Lv did not affect the volatile fatty acids(VFA).However,in vivo experiments demonstrated that the production of VFA was *** did not negatively affect the digestibility of dry matter during in vitro and in vivo methods,and there is even evidence that it can induce an increase in *** the rumen microbiota,populations of MA were reduced,and no differences were detected in alpha and beta diversity associated with Lv ***,some changes in the relative abundance of the microbiota were *** studies are recommended on:(i)Lv biodegradation products and stability,as well as its adsorption onto the solid matter in the rumen,to gain more insight on the“available”or effective Lv concentration;and(ii)to determine whether the effect of Lv on ruminal fermentation also depends on the feed composition and different ruminants.

Cylindrically Symmetric Solution in Teleparallel Theory

The field equations of a special class of teleparallel theory of gravitation and electromagnetic fields are applied to tetrad space having cylindrical symmetry with four unknown functions of radial coordinate r and azimuth angle θ. The vacuum stress-energy momentum tensor with one assumption concerning its specific form generates one non-trivial exact analytic solution. This solution is characterized by a constant magnetic field parameter B0. If B0 = 0, then the solution will reduce to the flat spacetime. The energy content is calculated using the superpotential given by MФller in the framework of teleparallel geometry. The energy contained in a sphere is found to be different from the pervious results.

Identification of the DEAD-box rNA helicase family members in grapevine reveals that VviDEADrH25a confers tolerance to drought stress

Grapevine growing areas are increasingly affected by drought,which has greatly limited global wine production and ***-box is one of the largest subfamilies of the rNA helicase family,and its members play key roles in the growth and development of plants and their stress *** studies have shown the potential of DEAD-box genes in the drought stress responses of Arabidopsis and tomato,rice,and other crop ***,information about DEAD-box genes in grapevine remains *** this report,a total of 40 DEAD-box genes were identified in grapevine and their protein sequence characteristics and gene structures were *** comparing the expression profiles of VviDEADrHs in response to drought stress in different grapevine varieties,nine candidate genes(VviDEADrH10c,-13,-22,-25a,-25b,-33,-34,-36,and-39)were screened based on expression profiling *** with qrTPCr results,Vvi DEADrH25a was selected for functional *** overexpression of Vvi DEADrH25a in Arabidopsis showed the transgenic plants were more sensitive to drought stress than the *** electrolyte permeability and malondialdehyde content were significantly increased in transgenic plants,whereas the chlorophyll content and superoxide dismutase(SOD),peroxidase(POD),catalase(CAT),and ascorbate peroxidase(APX)enzyme activities were significantly ***,VviDEADrH25a-overexpressing plants showed down-regulated expression levels of several drought stress-related marker genes,namely At COr15a,At rD29A,At ErD15,and At P5CS1,which indicated that they participated in the drought stress *** summary,this study provides new insights into the structure,evolution,and participation of DEAD-box rNA helicase genes in the response to drought stress in grapevines.

Emblematic forest dwellers reintroduced into cities： resource selection by translocated juvenile kaka

Urbanization and exotic species are major threats to the conservation of forest-dependent wildlife species. Some emblematic species, indicators of habitat quality for the conservation of other spe- cies, might successfully be reintroduced within cities when habitat restoration and pest manage- ment programs are combined. We studied the landscape resource selection of juvenile kaka Nestor meridionalis tracked with Global Positioning System （GPS） units and released into the predator- free reserve of Zealandia in Wellington city, New Zealand. Kaka moved beyond the predator exclu- sion fence into urban suburbs. The home range size and areas of high use estimated using local convex hull （a-LoCoH） ranged from 20 to 240 ha and 2 to 21 ha, respectively. Using resource selec- tion functions and model selection we found that native forest patches and urban areas close to the reserve were selected by kaka to establish their home ranges. At a lower scale of selection （i.e., se- lection of habitats within home ranges）, kaka selected the same habitat, but not necessarily those close to the reserve. Native forest patches throughout the city can facilitate the dispersal of individ- uals, while the reserve provides protection and opportunities for supplementary feeding. Urban areas might have been selected due to the placement of feeders in private backyards. Survival of forest-dwelling species in cities requires careful urban planning and management to provide the necessary habitat patches, refugia, and food sources.
