AIM:To investigate the short-term efficacy and safety of inebilizumab for neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders(NMOSD).METHODS:A total of 33 patients with NMOSD treated with inebilizumab(Group INB,n=15)or rituximab(Group RTX,n=18)in addition to high-dose glucocorticoids were *** groups underwent hormone shock therapy during the acute ***,Group INB received inebilizumab injections during the remission phase,while Group RTX received rituximab injections.A comparison of aquaporins 4(AQP4)titer values,peripheral blood B lymphocyte counts,and visual function recovery was conducted before and 8wk after ***,adverse reactions and patient tolerability were analyzed after using inebilizumab treatment ***:Following inebilizumab treatment,there was a significantly improvement in the visual acuity of NMOSD patients(P0.05).Furthermore,inebilizumab exhibited higher safety levels than that of rituximab ***:The combination of inebilizumab and high-dose glucocorticoids proves to be *** comparison to rituximab injections,inebilizumab displays better tolerance and ***,it demonstrates a partial effect in preventing optic nerve ***,it stands as an effective method to reduce the disability rates and improve the daily living ability of patients with NMOSD.

Peptide drugs are known for their high biological ***,compared with small molecule drugs,peptide drugs are easily oxidized and hydrolyzed as well as short in ***,inspired by the long circulation of albumin in blood,we screened albumin binding peptides(ABPs)from a one-bead one-compound(OBOC)peptide library to increase the half-life of peptide *** displaying random peptides were screened using fluorescent labeled human serum *** beads with specific binding to albumin were isolated for *** selected ABPs can effectively bind to albumin,thus possessing the long circulation of *** dissociation constant(K_(D))of ABPs to albumin is up to 1×10^(-8)mol/*** one of ABPs(ABP2)was coupled to triptorelin,the circulation half-life of triptorelin in mice was significantly prolonged to 263.50 h much longer than that of triptorelin alone(179.07 h).In addition,the combination therapy using ABP-conjugated triptorelin and doxorubicin(DOX)can effectively inhibit the proliferation of tumor cells in *** OBOC screening strategy and resulting ABPs showed great potential for enhancing the delivery efficiency of peptide drugs.

Objective This study aimed to compare the current Essen rabies post-exposure immunization schedule(0-3-7-14-28)in China and the simple 4-dose schedule(0-3-7-14)newly recommended by the World Health Organization in terms of their safety,efficacy,and *** Mice were vaccinated according to different immunization schedules,and blood was collected for detection of rabies virus neutralizing antibodies(RVNAs)on days 14,21,28,35,and 120after the first ***,different groups of mice were injected with lethal doses of the CVS-11 virus on day 0,subjected to different rabies immunization schedules,and assessed for morbidity and death *** a clinical trial,185 rabies-exposed individuals were selected for post-exposure vaccination according to the Essen schedule,and blood was collected for RVNAs detection on days 28and 42 after the first *** A statistically significant difference in RVNAs between mice in the Essen and 0-3-7-14 schedule groups was observed on the 35th day(P0.05)in RVNAs levels at any time *** post-exposure immune protective test showed that the survival rate of mice in the control group was 20%,whereas that in the immunization groups was 40%.In the clinical trial,the RVNAs positive conversion rates on days 28(14 days after 4 doses)and 42(14 days after 5 doses)were both 100%,and no significant difference in RVNAs levels was observed(P>0.05).Conclusion The simple 4-dose schedule can produce sufficient RVNAs levels,with no significant effect of a delayed fourth vaccine dose(14–28 d)on the immunization potential.

The Annual Report on Cardiovascular Health and Diseases in China(2022) intricate landscape of cardiovascular health in China. This section dissects cardiovascular risk factors in China which including hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes mellitus, chronic kidney disease, metabolic syndrome and air pollution. Hypertension prevalence has steadily increased in China,with efforts to control it facing challenges in achieving optimal rates, especially in rural areas. Interventions like salt substitutes and intensive blood pressure control show promise but need improvement. Abnormal lipid levels, indicative of dyslipidemia,have risen significantly, posing a risk for cardiovascular diseases. Despite efforts, many patients struggle to achieve target lipid levels, necessitating improved treatment strategies. Both type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus affect millions of adults in China,with long-term complications adding to the disease burden. Early intervention and effective management are crucial to mitigate its impact. Prevalent among older adults, chronic kidney disease is associated with diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and cardiovascular diseases, necessitating comprehensive management approaches. The prevalence of metabolic syndrome, characterized by a cluster of risk factors, has increased in both adults and adolescents, calling for lifestyle modifications and public health interventions. Ambient and household air pollution remain significant environmental risk factors, despite some improvements in air quality. Continued efforts to reduce emissions are essential for mitigating associated health risks. Addressing these risk factors requires a multifaceted approach, including public health initiatives, policy interventions, and individual-level strategies to promote healthy lifestyles and reduce environmental exposures. The clinical efficacy of implanted biomaterials is often compromised by host immune recognition and subsequent foreign body responses(FBRs).During the implantation,biomaterials inevitably come into direct contact with the blood,absorbing blood protein and forming blood *** studies have been carried out to regulate protein adsorption,thus manipulating ***,the role of clot surface fibrin films formed by clotting shrinkage in host reactions and FBR is often *** of the principle of fibrin film formation being relevant to fibrinogen or clotting factor absorption,it is feasible to manipulate the fibrin film formation via tuning the absorption of fibrinogen and clotting *** biological hydroxyapatite reserved bone architecture and microporous structure,the smaller particle size may expose more microporous structures and adsorb more fibrinogen or clotting ***,we set up 3 sizes(small,blood protein,the formation of clot surface fibrin films,and the subsequent *** found that small group adsorbed more clotting factors because of more microporous structures and formed the thinnest and sparsest fibrin *** thinnest and sparsest fibrin films increased inflammation and profibrosis of macrophages through a potential signaling pathway of cell adhesion-cytoskeleton-autophagy,leading to the stronger *** group adsorbed lesser clotting factors,forming the thickest and densest fibrin films,easing inflammation and profibrosis of macrophages,and finally mitigating ***,this study deepens the understanding of the role of fibrin films in host recognition and FBR and demonstrates the feasibility of a strategy to regulate FBR by modulating fibrin films via tuning the absorption of blood proteins.
