Evaluating the genetic status of threatened species is an essential task in conservation ***,the genetic status of threatened species has been mostly evaluated through techniques that fail to estimate genetic diversity at the whole genomic *** generation sequencing can meet this demand,but high quality samples such as blood or muscle tissues are ***,it is difficult to collect such samples from threatened species because sampling work may impact their ***,it is essential to design a workflow to evaluate the whole genomic status of threatened species using non-destructive *** though non-destructive sampling has been used in traditional barcoding technique,the barcoding technique cannot evaluate the whole genomic *** Eared Pheasant(Crossoptilon mantchuricum)is an endangered species,with captive populations maintained in Taiyuan zoo,China,and ***,the genetic diversity,inbreeding pattern,and mutation load of these two populations are *** uncover the genetic status of these two captive populations,we applied 2b-RAD technology to evaluate the genomic status of these populations using feathers as *** feathers could be collected by non-destructive *** results indicate that the Taiyuan zoo population has a lower genetic diversity and higher inbreeding coefficient than the European *** Taiyuan zoo population has lethal mutations when *** current project uses a non-destructive sampling technique to evaluate the whole genomic status of the two captive populations,providing a paradigm for conservation genetics,which will facilitate the development of conservation biology.

This study introduces a novel convolutional neural network,the WISE Galaxy Classification Network(WGC),for classifying spiral and elliptical galaxies using Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer(WISE)*** attains an accuracy of 89.03%,surpassing the combined use of K-means or SVM with the Color-Color method in more accurately identifying galaxy *** enhanced variant,WGC_mag,integrates magnitude parameters with image features,further boosting the accuracy to 89.89%.The research also delves into the criteria for galaxy classification,discovering that WGC primarily categorizes dust-rich images as elliptical galaxies,corresponding to their lower star formation rates,and classifies less dusty images as spiral *** paper explores the consistency and complementarity of WISE infrared images with SDSS optical images in galaxy morphology *** SDSS Galaxy Classification Network(SGC),trained on SDSS images,achieved an accuracy of 94.64%.The accuracy reached 99.30% when predictions from SGC and WGC were *** the complementarity of features in WISE and SDSS images,a novel variant of a classifier,namely the Multi-band Galaxy Morphology Integrated Classifier,has been *** classifier elevates the overall prediction accuracy to 95.39%.Lastly,the versatility of WGC was validated in other data *** the HyperLEDA data set,the distinction between elliptical galaxies and Sc,Scd and Sd spiral galaxies was most pronounced,achieving an accuracy of 90%,surpassing the classification results of the Galaxy zoo 2 labeled WISE data *** research not only demonstrates the effectiveness of WISE images in galaxy morphology classification but also represents an attempt to integrate multi-band astronomical data to enhance understanding of galaxy structures and evolution.

The timing of flowering(FL)and leaf unfolding(LU)determine plants’reproduction and vegetative *** warming has substantially advanced FL and LU of temperate and boreal plants,but their responses to warming differ,which may influence the time interval between FL and LU(ΔLU-FL),thereby impacting plant fitness and intraspecific physiological *** on twigs collected from two flowering-first tree species,Populus tomentosa and Amygdalus triloba,we conducted a manipulative experiment to investigate the effects of winter chilling,spring warming and photoperiod on theΔ*** found that photoperiod did not affect theΔLU-FL of Amygdalus triloba,but shortenedΔLU-FL by 5.1 d of Populus ***,spring warming and winter chilling oppositely affected theΔLU-FL of both ***,low chilling accumulation extended theΔLU-FL by 3.8 and 9.4 d for Populus tomentosa and Amygdalus triloba,but spring warming shortened theΔLU-FL by 4.1 and 0.2 d℃^(-1).Our results indicate that climate warming will decrease or increase theΔLU-FL depending on the warming periods,i.e.,spring or *** shifted time interval between flowering and leaf unfolding may have ecological effects including affecting pollen transfer efficiency and alter the structure and functioning of terrestrial ecosystem.

Highly specialized myrmecophagy(ant-and termite-eating) has independently evolved multiple times in species of various mammalian orders and represents a textbook example of phenotypic evolutionary convergence. We explored the mechanisms involved in this unique dietary adaptation and convergence through multi-omic analyses, including analyses of host genomes and transcriptomes, as well as gut metagenomes, in combination with validating assays of key enzymes’ activities, in the species of three mammalian orders(anteaters, echidnas and pangolins of the orders Xenarthra, Monotremata and Pholidota, respectively) and their relatives. We demonstrate the complex and diverse interactions between hosts and their symbiotic microbiota that have provided adaptive solutions for nutritional and detoxification challenges associated with high levels of protein and lipid metabolisms, trehalose degradation, and toxic substance detoxification. Interestingly, we also reveal their spatially complementary cooperation involved in degradation of ants’ and termites’ chitin exoskeletons. This study contributes new insights into the dietary evolution of mammals and the mechanisms involved in the coordination of physiological functions by animal hosts and their gut commensals.

Effects of pentachlorophenol on the detoxification system in white-rumped munia(Lonchura striata)

Pentachlorophenol（PCP）, a priority pollutant due to its persistence and high toxicity, has been used worldwide as a pesticide and biocide. To understand the adverse effects of PCP, adult male white-rumped munias（Lonchura striata） were orally administrated commercial PCP mixed with corn oil at dosages of 0, 0.05, 0.5, and 5 mg/（kg·day） for 42 day. Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry（GC–MS） analysis found that PCP was preferentially accumulated in the kidney rather than in the liver and muscle in all exposure groups. To examine the function of CYP1A in pollutant metabolism, we isolated two full-length cDNA fragments（designated as CYP1A4 and CYP1A5） from L. striata liver using reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction and rapid amplification of cDNA ends. PCP induced the expression of CYP1A5, although no obvious change was observed in CYP1A4 expression. Furthermore, PCP significantly elevated the activities of ethoxyresorufin O-deethylase and methoxyresorufin O-demethylase and decreased the activity of benzyloxy-trifluoromethyl-coumarin, with no significant responses observed in benzyloxyresorufin O-debenzylase. PCP induced significant changes in antioxidant enzyme（superoxide dismutase and catalase） activities and malondialdehyde content, but decreased glutathione peroxidase（GSH-Px） and glutathione S-transferase activities and GSH content in the liver of L. striata. The present study demonstrated that PCP had hepatic toxic effects by affecting CYP1As and anti-oxidative status.

A critical function of animal movement is to maximize access to essential resources in temporally fluctuating and spatially heterogeneous *** mediated resource fluctuations may influence animal movements,enabling them to track changing resource distributions,resulting in annual migration *** conservation-dependent giant panda(Ailuropoda melanoleuca) displays seasonal movement patterns;however,the key factor driving these seasonal migration patterns remains poorly ***,we used GPS tracking collars to monitor the movements of six giant pandas over a 12-year period across different elevations,and performed statistical analysis of seasonal migration directions,routes,habitat revisitation,home range overlap,first arrival events,and *** results revealed a compelling pattern of seasonal migrations that facilitated the ability of the pandas to forage at the appropriate time and place to maximize nutritional *** results indicated that pandas utilize spatial memory to locate reliable food resources,as evidenced by their annual return to the same or similar winter and summer home ranges and the consistently maintained percentage of home range *** novel insights into giant panda foraging and movement ecology not only enhance our understanding of its ability to adapt to nutritionally poor dietary resources but also provide important information for the development of resource utilization-based protection and management strategies.

The mortality of captive newborn giant pandas (Ailuropoda melanoleuca) is ashigh as 71.3%, but it can be greatly reduced by hand-rearing of newborn cubs, whosemother animals are unable to feed them. This is of tremendous significance to thepopulation breeding and the species *** the past ten years, many newborn cubs that did not receive any milk fromthe mother animals were hand-reared both at home and abroad, but they all diedin the early stage due to medical treatment failure.
