OBJECTIVE: To systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of blood pricking and cupping in the treatment of nonspecific low back pain(NLBP).METHODS:The China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database(CNKI), Wanfang Med Online Database(Wanfang), China Science and Technology Journal Database(VIP), Pub Med, Web of Science,EMBase, and Cochrane Library databases were searched from inception to October 31, 2021, for randomized controlled trials(RCTs) of the treatment of NLBP by blood pricking and cupping. The quality of each included study was evaluated according to the Cochrane Systematic Assessor’s Manual evaluation criteria, while the Meta-analysis was performed using RevMan ***: A total of 13 thirteen RCTs included a total of 1088 subjects. The visual analogue scale scores indicated that blood pricking and cupping was superior to the other treatments at relieving NLBP pain [mean difference(MD) =-1.43;95% confidence interval(CI):-2.31 to 0.54;Z = 3.15;P = 0.002). The Oswestry Disability Index score of blood pricking and cupping was superior to that of the control group in terms of improving NLBP dysfunction(MD =-6.25;95%CI:-8.37 to-4.31);Z = 5.77;P < 0.000 01). 7 RCTs mentioned no adverse reactions, while one study reported mild syncope [7%(n = 3), all in the 17-30 years group] that was gradually relieved after rest. CONCLUSIONS: Blood pricking and cupping therapy can safely and effectively reduce pain and improve functional impairment in patients with NLBP. However, this study included limited high-grade studies with a small overall sample size;therefore, further high-quality large-sample RCTs are needed to improve clinical evidence.

Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)has been associated with various liver injury cases *** date,the prevalence,mechanism,clinical manifestations,diagnosis,and outcomes of COVID-19-induced liver injury in various at-risk groups are not well *** injury may arise in the prevention and treatment of COVID-19 from direct causes such as viral infection and indirect causes such as systemic inflammation,hypoxic changes,and drugs that exacerbate any pre-existing liver *** have found that patients with underlying liver disease are at higher risk of COVID-19-induced liver *** condition of cardiopulmonary and metabolic diseases and vulnerable stages in lifespan may also involve in the development of COVID-19-induced liver *** review summarized studies of COVID-19-induced liver injury in different at-risk groups regarding their clinical characteristics,parameters,and correlations of the severity with these indicators and signs as well as potential treatment suggestions,to increase attention to physiological and pathological conditions and continue liver function monitoring as they can help in strengthening early supportive treatment and reducing the incidence of adverse outcomes.

“Three Methods and Three Points” regulates p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase in the dorsal horn of the spinal cord in a rat model of sciatic nerve injury

Tuina is a traditional Chinese treatment for sensory disturbances caused by peripheral nerve injury and related diseases. Our previous studies showed that tuina regulates relevant regions and indices of the spinal dorsal horn using the Dian, Bo, and Rou method in Yinmen（BL37）, Yanglingquan（GB34）, and Weizhong（BL40）. Treatment prevents muscle atrophy, protects spinal cord neurons, and promotes sciatic nerve repair. The mechanisms of action of tuina for treating peripheral nerve injury remain poorly understood. This study established rat models of sciatic nerve injury using the crushing method. Rats received Chinese tuina in accordance with the principle of ＂Three Methods and Three Points,＂ once daily for 20 days. Tuina intervention reduced paw withdrawal latency and improved wet weight of the gastrocnemius muscle, as well as promoting morphological recovery of sciatic nerve fibers, Schwann cells, and axons. The protein expression levels of phospho-p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase, tumor necrosis factor-α, and interleukin-1β also decreased. These findings indicate that ＂Three Methods and Three Points＂ promoted morphological recovery and improved behavior of rats with peripheral nerve injury.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the anti-inflammatory effect of electroacupuncture in rats with bupivacaine-induced lumbar multifidus injury and its underlying regulatory mechanism on macrophage polarization. METHODS: A total of seventy-two Sprague-Dawley male rats were randomly divided into control， model， and electroacupuncture groups. Forty-eight rats categorized in model groups were injected 0.5% bupivacaine （BPVC） into the lumbar multifidus at the L4-L5 segment. Rats in the electroacupuncture groups received the intervention for 1， 2， 3 and 5 days， respectively. The degree of macrophage infiltration and change of M1/ M2 polarization were observed based on hematoxylin and eosin staining， immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence to evaluate the anti-inflammatory effect of electroacupuncture. Meanwhile， exosomal miRNA-sequencing and bioinformatics analysis predicted the pathways and biological processes related to inflammatory response and macrophage polarization regulated by electroacupuncture intervention. RESULTS: BPVC injection induced the infiltration of local macrophages at the L4-L5 segment of lumbar multifidus. Comparison of mean IOD values with 2-day and 5-day post injury revealed the highest expression of CD68;macrophages on day 3 post injury by immunohistochemistry. （Pacupuncture group， while those of CD163;CD206;M2-macrophages were higher in the electroacupuncture group， on day 3 after BPVC injection （Pacupuncture can promote macrophage polarization to reduce inflammation following lumbar multifidus muscular injury.

Objective： To compare the regulatory effects of electro-acupuncture （EA） at acupoints Zusanli （ST36） and Hegu （LI4） on the visceral hyper-sensitivity in the rat model of irritable bowel syndrome （IBS）, and to explore the acting targets and specialty of acupoints. Methods： Except 8 rats of the normal control group, the rest 32 rats were prepared to set up the IBS models. IBS animal model was prepared by enema with acetic acid. Model rats were divided into three groups. Except for rats in the model group for control, those in the other two groups were treated 20 min by EA on ST36 （EA-ST36） and LI4 （EA-LI4） respectively for 2 weeks to observe the effect on behavior response of viscera sensitivity. The changes of neuropepUde （NPY）, the somatostatin （SS） levels in blood and tissues of brain and intestine were monitored as well. Results： The volume thresholds for abdomen uplifting and beck hunching were obviously increased after EA-ST36 （P〈0.05）, but showed insignificant change after EA-LI4. NPY contents lowered and SS contents increased in model rats; both EA-ST36 and EA-LI4 could raise the level of thalamic NPY （P〈0.01 and P〈0.05, respectively）, but showed insignificant effects on NPY in colonic tissue. As for SS content, its colonic level could be reduced by EA-S36 and EA-LI4 （P〈0.01 and P〈0.05, respectively）, however, its blood level was affected only by EA-ST36 （P〈0.05）. Conclusions： EA-ST36 or EA-LI4 could regulate the NPY in thalamus and SS in colonic tissue, the former could affect blood level of SS as well. It is deemed that NPY and SS may be the key substances for regulating the action of acupuncture in the braln-intastinal axis; their different levels could be regarded as an indicator for the functional differenca between the acupoints.

Ti-Cu alloy has potential to be used in plastic surgery and dental implants due to its strong antibacterialproperties,high strength and good corrosion *** this paper,Ti-5Cu was anodic-oxidized to enhance the surface *** influence of the oxidation on the corrosion resistance,antibacterial properties and biological properties was investigated.X-ray diffraction(XRD)and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)results showed that a double-layer oxide coating with dense inner layer and porous outside layer was formed on Ti-Cu *** oxide coating consisted mainly of TiO2,CuzO and small amount of CuO,improved the corrosion resistance of Ti-Cu alloy by one order of magnitude due to the formation of the dense oxide inner layer,but high Cu ion release was *** plate count results showed that the antibac-terial activity of Ti-Cu sample was improved to≥99%due to the comprehensive function of CuO and Cu_(2)O in the coating and Cu^(2+)*** test results showed that thecoating exhibited good cell compatibility,the porous sur-face structure improved the adhesion of cells,and Cu ion release promoted the cell proliferation.
