Following myocardial infarction(MI), cardiomyocytes and infarct size are the focus of our attention when evaluating the extent of cardiac injury, efficacy of therapies or success in repairing the damaged heart by stem cell therapy. Numerous interventions have been shown by pre-clinical studies to be effective in limiting infarct size, and yet clinical trials designed accordingly have yielded disappointing outcomes. The ultimate goal of cardiac protection is to limit the adverse cardiac remodeling. Accumulating studies have revealed that post-infarct remodeling can be attenuated without infarct size limitation. To reconcile this, one needs to appreciate the significance of various cellular and acellular myocardial components that, like cardiomyocytes, undergo significant damage and dysfunction, which impact the ultimate cardiac injury and remodelling. Microvascular injury following ischemia-reperfusion may influence infarct size and promote inflammation. Myocardial injury evokes innate immunity with massive inflammatory infiltration that, although essential for the healing process, exacerbates myocardial injury and damage to extracellular matrix leading to dilative remodeling. It is also important to consider the multiple non-cardiomyocyte components in evaluating therapeutic efficacy. Current research indicates the pivotal role of these components in achieving cardiac regeneration by cell therapy. This review summarizes findings in this field, highlights a broad consideration of therapeutic targets,and recommends cardiac remodeling as the ultimate target.

Lithium metal is commonly regarded as the“Holy Grail”anode material for high energy density rechargeable ***,the uncontrollable growth of Li dendrites has posed safety concerns and thus greatly hindered its large-scale *** we have modified the surface of a commercial anode current collector,Cu foil,with a thin layer of Zn by a facile electroplating method,in order to regulate the Li nucleation and the following growth *** of the formation of a solid solution buffer layer and Li-Zn alloy phases,the Li nucleation overpotential was dramatically reduced,realizing a uniform Li nucleation and a smooth Li plating *** a result,significantly improved long-term cycling performance with a high Coulombic efficiency was achieved by the lithiophilic Zn coated Cu foil as a current *** cells of Li-LiFePO4 and Li-S using the Li deposited on the Zn modified Cu as the anode,showed increased capacity with low voltage hysteresis and greatly enhanced cycling stability,ascribed to the uniform Li deposition and formation of a stable SEI *** work demonstrates the feasibility of employing lithiophilic modified Cu foils as Li metal current collectors for practical applications.

The 2024 Nobel prize in chemistry recognizes groundbreaking advancements in protein science, highlighting the power of artificial intelligence (AI) to decipher and design the molecular machinery of life. Half of the prize was awarded to David baker for the computational design of proteins; the other to Demis Hassabis and John Jumper for their AI-driven predictions of protein structures. This article briefly reviews their achievements, and discusses the opportunities and directions that their work has enabled (Figure1).

T-cell regulation by CD52-expressing CD4 T cells appears to operate by two different and possibly synergistic mechanisms. The first is by its release from the cell surface of CD4 T cells that express high levels of CD52 that then binds to the inhibitory sialic acid-binding immunoglobulin-like lectins-lO （Siglec-lO） receptor to attenuate effector T-cell activation by impairing phosphorylation of T-cell receptor associated Ick and zap-70. The second mechanism appears to be by crosslinkage of the CD52 molecules by an as yet unidentified endogenous ligand that is mimicked by a bivalent anti-CD52 antibody that results in their expansion.

This study evaluated the hydrocarbon-bearing potential of Upper Jurassic marine source rocks in the Qiangtang （羌塘） Basin through a comprehensive organic geochemical analysis of the samples from a large number of outcrops in different structural units to predict the location of favorable hydro- carbon kitchens, based on the evaluation standards of Mesozoic marine source rocks in the Qiangtang Ba- sin. Rocks＇ depositional environment, thickness and organic geochemistry feature were analyzed in this study. The principal controlling factors of the occurrences of favorable source rocks were analyzed. Upper Jurassic Suowa （索瓦） Formation source rocks are mainly platform limestone in the Dongcuo （洞错）-Hulu （葫芦） Lake deep sag and Tupocuo （吐坡错）-Baitan （白滩） Lake deep sag. Lithologically, the Suowa Fro- mation is made up of a suite of marls in intra-platform sags, micrites and black shales, which were all de- posited in the closed, deep and static water depositional environment. Marl could form hydrocarbon-rich source rocks and its organic matter type is mainly II type in mature to highly-mature stage, the limestone forms a medium-level source rock. In addition, the favorable source kitchen of limestone is larger than that of mudstone. This study provides an important reference for the evaluation of Jurassic marine source rocks and for prediction of petroleum resources in the Qiangtang Basin.

The North Atlantic Ocean hosts the largest volume of global subtropical mode waters(STMWs) in the world,which serve as heat,carbon and oxygen silos in the ocean *** are formed in the Gulf Stream region where thermal fronts are pervasive and result in feedback with the ***,their roles in STMW formation have been *** eddy-resolving global climate simulations,we find that suppressing local frontal-scale ocean-to-atmosphere(FOA) feedback leads to STMW formation being reduced almost by *** is because FOA feedback enlarges STMW outcropping,attributable to the mixed layer deepening associated with cumulative excessive latent heat loss due to higher wind speeds and greater air-sea humidity contrast driven by the Gulf Stream *** enhanced heat loss overshadows the stronger restratification induced by vertical eddies and turbulent heat transport,making STMW colder and he *** more realistic representation of FOA feedback,the eddy-present/rich coupled global climate models reproduce the observed STMWs much better than the eddy-free *** improvement in STMW production cannot be achieved,even with the oceanic resolution solely refined but without coupling to the overlying atmosphere in oceanic general circulation *** findings highlight the need to resolve FOA feedback to ameliorate the common severe underestimation of STMW and associated heat and carbon uptakes in earth system mo dels.
