Pros and cons of live kidney donation in prediabetics: A critical review and way forward

There is shortage of organs,including kidneys,*** with deceased kidney transplantation,there is a significant rise in live kidney *** prevalence of prediabetes(PD),including impaired fasting glucose and impaired glucose tolerance,is on the rise across the *** teams frequently come across prediabetic kidney donors for *** are at risk of diabetes,chronic kidney disease,cardiovascular events,stroke,neuropathy,retinopathy,dementia,depression and nonalcoholic liver disease along with increased risk of all-cause ***,most of the studies done in prediabetic kidney donors are retrospective in nature and have a short follow up *** is lack of prospective long-term studies to know about the real risk of complications after ***,there are variations in recommendations from various guidelines across the globe for donations in prediabetics,leading to more confusion among *** increases the responsibility of transplant teams to take appropriate decisions in the best interest of both donors and *** review focuses on pathophysiological changes of PD in kidneys,potential complications of PD,other risk factors for development of type 2 diabetes,a review of guidelines for kidney donation,the potential role of diabetes risk score and calculator in kidney donors and the way forward for the evaluation and selection of prediabetic kidney donors.

We describe the synthesis and evaluation of an azulene-based chemodosimeter for *** probe was found to undergo two distinct color changes upon introduction of aqueous nitrite ion.A near-instant formation of a grey color provides a qualitative indication of the presence of nitrite,followed by the formation of a deep-yellow/orange color,the endpoint from which quantitative data can be *** azulene probe exhibits 1:1 stoichiometry of reaction with nitrite in water,and is selective for nitrite over other *** azulene probe was applied to determine nitrite content in cured meat,and compared with the British Standard testing procedure(Griess test).The value obtained from the azulene-based probe agreed closely with the standard *** procedure only requires the preparation of one standard solution,instead of the three required for the standard Griess test.

Review of Distribution Network Phase Unbalance: Scale, Causes, Consequences, Solutions, and Future Research Directions

Phase unbalance is widespread in the distribution networks in the UK,continental Europe,US,China,and other countries and *** paper first reviews the mass scale of phase unbalance and its causes and *** challenges arise from phase rebalancing:the scalability,data scarcity,and adaptability(towards changing unbalance over time).Solutions to address the challenges are:1)using retrofit table,maintenance-free,automatic solutions to overcome the scalability challenge;2)using data analytics to overcome the data-scarcity challenge;and 3)using phase balancers or other online phase rebalancing solutions to overcome the adaptability *** paper categorizes existing phase rebalancing solutions into three classes:1)load/lateral re-phasing;2)using phase balancers;3)controlling energy storage,electric vehicles,distributed generation,and micro-grids for phase *** advantages and limitations are analyzed and ways to overcome their limitations are ***,this paper suggests future research topics:1)long-term forecast of phase unbalance;2)the whole-system analysis of the unbalance-induced costs;3)the phase unbalance diagnosis for data-scarce LV networks;4)techno-commercial solutions to exploit the flexibility from large three-phase customers for phase balancing;5)the optimal placement of phase balancers;6)the transition from single-phase customers to three-phase customers.

M(?)ller that there is possible high T_c superconductivity in the Ba-La-Cu-O system. This system exhibits a number of oxygen-deficient phases with mixed-valent copper constituents and this gives rise to itinerant electronic states between the non-Jahn-Teller Cu~(+++) and Jahn-Teller Cu~(++) ions. Strong electron-phonon interaction might lead to superconducting phase transition.

The corrosion properties of four Mg-5Al alloys with M-alloying elements(tin,manganese and zinc)in a 3.5 wt.%NaCl solution were examined using electrochemical tests and surface *** electrochemical results indicated that the addition of 1 wt.%M metal decreased the corrosion rate and hydrogen evolution rate of the Mg-5Al ***,the addition of 1Zn resulted in having the best corrosion resistance due to the interaction of Zn oxide with Mg and Al oxides which acted as a corrosion barrier.

Technological advancements in unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs)have revolutionized various industries,enabling the widespread adoption of UAV-based *** engineering management,UAV-based inspection has emerged as a highly efficient method for identifying hidden risks in high-risk construction environments,surpassing traditional inspection *** on this foundation,this paper delves into the optimization of UAV inspection routing and scheduling,addressing the complexity introduced by factors such as no-fly zones,monitoring-interval time windows,and multiple monitoring *** tackle this challenging problem,we propose a mixed-integer linear programming(MILP)model that optimizes inspection task assignments,monitoring sequence schedules,and charging *** comprehensive consideration of these factors differentiates our problem from conventional vehicle routing problem(VRP),leading to a mathematically intractable model for commercial solvers in the case of large-scale *** overcome this limitation,we design a tailored variable neighborhood search(VNS)metaheuristic,customizing the algorithm to efficiently solve our *** numerical experiments are conducted to validate the efficacy of our proposed algorithm,demonstrating its scalability for both large-scale and real-scale *** experiments and a case study based on an actual engineering project are also conducted,providing valuable insights for engineering managers to enhance inspection work efficiency.

Survival outcomes in early-onset oesophageal adenocarcinoma patients:A systematic review and meta-analyses

baCKGROUND The incidence of oesophageal adenocarcinoma(OAC)has been reported to be increasing in many *** this trend,an increase in incidence of early-onset OAC,defined as OAC in adults aged under 50 years,has been *** is unclear whether survival outcomes for early-onset OAC patients differ from older age *** To investigate survival outcomes in early-onset OAC *** Ovid Medline and Embase were searched from inception to January 2022 for relevant studies relating to early-onset OAC and survival *** regarding the overall five-year survival and risk of death of younger and older patients with OAC were extracted and pooled using meta-analyses to produce pooled estimates and 95%CIs where *** Eleven studies which compared survival of early-onset OAC,defined as age at diagnosis of<50 years,with older patients were included.A narrative review of median and mean survival demonstrated conflicting results,with studies showing early-onset OAC patients having both better and worse outcomes compared to older age groups.A meta-analysis of five-year survival demonstrated similar outcomes across age groups,with 22%-25%of patients in the young,middle and older age groups alive after five years.A meta-analysis of four studies demon-strated that early-onset OAC patients did not have a significantly increased risk of death compared to middle-aged patients(hazard ratio 1.12,95%CI:0.85-1.47).INTRODUCTION There is concern that the incidence of oesophageal adenocarcinoma(OAC)in patients under 50,described as early-onset OAC,is ***,data regarding survival of younger patients with OAC is ***,while increasing age remains a major non-modifiable risk factor for cancer,the incidence of early-onset cancers,largely accepted to be in adults aged under 50 years,is increasing[1].This includes an observed increase in the incidence of gastrointestinal malignancies such as colorectal,oesophageal,gastric and he
