Sacred spaces have usually been presented dichotomously in pilgrimage studies:small or big,near or far,at the“center of the world”or at the *** article discusses a unique combined pilgrimage during the Seged holiday of the Jews of Ethiopia,which is still celebrated *** on testimonies,I conclude that they made a physical and symbolic journey from the“small place”to the“big place”.The“big place”,similarly to the sacredness itself,was also divided into two memory *** liturgy of the Seged mediated between the“small place”and the“big place”.It also created a connection between the“small time”which includes the small everyday actions,and the“big time”which includes large leaps toward a mythological past.

Ethiopian Jews belonged in Ethiopia to a patriarchal culture,where violence against women was not only acceptable but *** extreme cases,the battered woman could appeal to the community’s *** functioned as a semi-legal institution,acting as a barrier against extreme violence towards women and preventing incidents of intimate partner femicide(IPF).In Israel,battered women began to avoid the elders after learning that it was preferable to appeal to the social services and lodge formal complaints about violent partners with the *** women are overrepresented in IPF to the extent of 16 times the rate in Israel’s *** professional literature emphasizes socio-cultural changes,such as the reversal of gender roles and status among Ethiopians in Israel,as the main risk factors in ***,psychological risk factors must also be considered concerning these changes and that some Ethiopian men cannot accept *** current article points out specific triggers and aims to address whether the collapse of the elders as a mediation mechanism has contributed to the high levels of IPF among Ethiopian women in Israel.

The Holocaust,also known as the Shoah,was the tragic and devastating event of the genocide of European Jews during World War *** 1941 and 1945,Nazi Germany and its collaborators systematically murdered some six million Jews across German-occupied *** Jews and other racial minorities were rounded up across Europe and slaughtered by the German Nazi *** was done to save,and rescue jews during that dark period,that is why the story of Albania,a small country in the Balkans,in which the entire country protected the Jewish community is so remarkable(Savich,2002).This paper will try to examine the heroic rescuing efforts made by the people of Albania during the holocaust while focusing on the Albanian moral code of honor known as“Besa”.This paper will also provide an overview of the impacts of those action.

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of the Chances program,a program that was established in 2004 in order to prevent juvenile delinquency among immigrant youth in *** research showed that immediately after the program ended,all participants stopped their delinquent *** current research tested the effectiveness of the program two and a half years later and explored the risk of or immunity to recidivism among graduates of the program.A sample of 145 graduates was asked to fill out a closed questionnaire examining the effectiveness of the program through self‐report questions about *** results were significant,showing that only three of the graduates(14%of the sample)continued to commit felons,while the great majority(86%)reintegrated into normative life within the community including school,employment,and army *** of disappointing their tutor were found central to the discontinuation of *** graduates also attributed other elements of the Chances program to their normative behavior and reintegration into normative *** implications of this study demonstrate that although the Chances program was designed to treat immigrant delinquent youth,its success can be relevant for treating native‐born delinquent youth as well.

Assume that a target is hidden or lost in one of several possible locations and is to be found by the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). A target can be either a hostile object or missing personnel in remote areas. Prior probabilities of target locations are known. Inspection operations done by the UAVs are imperfect, namely, probabilities of overlooking the hidden target and probabilities of false alarms exist for any possible location. The UAV has to sequentially inspect the locations so that to find the target with the minimum loss or damage incurred by the target before it is detected subject to a required level of confidence of target identification. A fast (polynomial-time) priority-based algorithm for finding an optimal search strategy is developed.

The smart grid is a new generation of standard power distribution grid. The communication infrastructure is critical for the successful operation of the modern smart grids. The use of communication technologies ensures the reduction of energy consumption, optimal operation of the smart grid and coordination between all smart grids’ components from generation to the end users. This paper presents an overview of existing communication technologies such as ZigBee, WLAN, cellular communication, WiMAX, Power Line Communication (PLC), their implementation in smart grids, advantages and disadvantages. Moreover, the paper shows comparison of communication infrastructure between the legacy grid and the smart grid and smart grid communication standards. The paper also presents research challenges and future trends in communication systems for smart grid application.

The paper presents new MPPT algorithm for partial shading of series connected PV cells/modules. In the shaded condition, there is a problem of decrease in the total output power of the PV system. The proposed algorithm aims to reduce this problem by active bypassing of the shaded cells. The algorithm senses the irradiance of each cell and performs calculation in order to decide if to actively bypass the shaded cell or not. Extensive simulation results proved that algorithm works and increases the output power under partial shading conditions. Furthermore, the algorithm becomes more efficient when the number of cells is increased.

In this article, we solve some word equations originated from discrete dynamical systems related to antisymmetric cubic map. These equations emerge when we work with primitive and greatest words. In particular, we characterize all the cases for which （β1β1） = （β2β） where β1 and β2 are the greatest words in 〈〈β31〉〉 and 〈〈β32〉〉 of M（n）.
