co.pacted clay liners are extensively used as barriers to co.trol the upward diffusion of vapors of volatile or semi-volatile organic co.taminants released from unsaturated co.taminated soils at industryco.taminated *** study aimed to investigate the gas diffusion barrier performance of co.pacted clayey soils amended with three agents including attapulgite and diatomite individually,and attapulgite/diatomite *** properties including water retention,volumetric shrinkage,gas diffusion,and unco.fined co.pressive strength were evaluated through a series of laboratory tests of amended co.pacted clayey *** results demonstrate that the decrease in volume proportions of interaggregate pores leads to an increase in unco.fined co.pressive strength(qu).Both hydrophilic groups and microstructures of attapulgite and diatomite result in an increase in water retention percent(Wt)of co.pacted clayey soil specimens after amendment regardless of the type of agent or initial water co.tent(w0).Furthermore,the ratio of the gas diffusion co.fficient(De)to the gas diffusion co.fficient in the air(Da)was significantly reduced owing to a decrease in volume proportions of inter-aggregate pores,hydrophilic group,and microstructures of attapulgite and *** electron microsco.e analyses revealed that rod-shaped attapulgite filled the inter-aggregate pores formed by clay particles,whereas the disc-shaped diatomite particles,characterized by micropores,failed to obstruct the interaggregate pores due to their larger particle *** intrusion porosimetry(MIP)analyses showed a reduction in pore volume in the inter-aggregate pores,leading to a reduction in the total pore volume for both the attapulgite and attapulgite/diatomite mixture amended clays,which is in acco.dance with the scanning electron microsco.e(SEM)*** findings are pertinent to the practical application of co.pacted clay liners as gas barriers against the upward migration of volatile or s

The mirid bug Apolygus luco.um(Hemiptera:Miridae)is a polyphagous pest that affects a wide range of host *** co.trol remains challenging mainly due to its rapid reproduction,necessitating an understanding of sex pheromone *** reco.nition of sex pheromones is vital for co.rtship and mating behaviors,and is mediated by various chemosensory-associated *** these,sensory neuron membrane protein(SNMP),a CD36-related protein,is suggested to play crucial roles in detecting sex *** this study,we employed transcriptomic and genomic data from *** and phylogenetic approaches,and identified four putative SNMP genes(AlucSNMP1a,AlucSNMP1b,AlucSNMP2a,and AlucSNMP2b)with full open reading *** analysis revealed the ubiquitous presence of AlucSNMP transcripts in multiple tissues,with only AlucSNMP1a exhibiting male-biased expression in the antennae,suggesting its potential role in male *** analysis using the Xenopus oocyte expression system,co.pled with two-electrode voltage clamp reco.ding,demonstrated that the co.expression of AlucSNMP1a with specific pheromone receptors(PRs)and the Odorant receptor co.receptor(Orco.significantly enhanced electrophysiological responses to sex pheromones co.pared to the co.expression of PRs and Orco.***,the results indicated that the presence of AlucSNMP1a not only affected the responsiveness to sex pheromones but also influenced the kinetics(activation and inactivation)of the induced *** co.trast,the co.expression of AlucSNMP1b with AlucPR/Orco.co.plexes had no impact on the inward currents induced by two pheromone *** examination of the selective pressures on SNMP1 genes across 20 species indicated strong purifying selection,implying potential functional co.servation in various *** findings highlight the crucial role of AlucSNMP1a in the response to sex pheromones.

A new species of the genus Achalinus is described based on five specimens co.lected from the villages of Huangjialing and Fuxi, Huangshan, anhui, China. It can be morphologically differentia ted from all the other species in Achalinus except for A. spinalis and A. werneri by the presence of a dotted black streak in the middle of the subcaudal. It can be distinguished from A. spinalis in that its two anterior temporals are in co.tact with eye, and A. werneri by its light brown flanks. The phylogenetic rela tionship of Achalinus was reco.structed using the mitochondrial locus of cytochrome co.idase subunit 1(co.). The five new specimens form a monophyletic clade with strong support. The unco.rected p-dista nces between the new species and other representatives of Achalinus range from 13.6% to 21.7%. The reco.nition of the new species increases the number of described Achalinus species to 14.

The influencing rules and mechanisms of Al co.tents and heat treatments on the magneto-mechanical hysteresis damping of Fe-Al alloys were investigated using a functional internal friction apparatus in this paper. It was shown that the air-co.led Fe-10.5(at.%) Al alloy possesses the optimum damping capacity and the Fe-29(at.)%Al and Fe-38(at.) %Al alloys have lower the damping than the Fe-10.5(at.%) Al alloy with the same heat treatments. The as-cast and water-quenched Fe-Al alloys exhibit the low damping capacity. In addition,the heat treatment temperature has an important effect on the damping capacity of the Fe-Al alloys. A appropriate heating temperature is necessary to obtain high damping capacity for Fe-Al alloys. The damping capacity of Fe-Al alloys is decreased when the heating temperature of heat treatments is enhanced.

In this study,a single dielectric barrier discharge(DBD)co.xial reactor was used to degrade 4,4'-sulfonylbis(TBBPS)in water using greenhouse gas(co.(2))and argon as the carrier *** investigation focused on co.(2)co.version,reactive species formation,gas-liquid mass transfer mechanism,and degradation mechanism of TBBPS during the discharge plasma *** the decrease of co.(2)/Ar ratio in the process of plasma discharge,the emission spectrum intensity of Ar,co.(2)and excited reactive species was *** increase promoted co.lision and dissociation of co.(2),resulting in a series of chemical reactions that improved the production of reactive species such as·OH,^(1)O_(2),H_(2)O_(2)and O_(3).These reactive species initiated a sequence of reactions with *** indicated that at a gas flow rate of 240 mL/min with a co.(2)/Ar ratio of 1:5,both the highest co.(2)co.version rate(17.76%)and TBBPS degradation rate(94.24%)were *** degradation mechanism was elucidated by determining types and co.tents of reactive species present in treatment liquid along with analysis of intermediate products using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry *** research provides novel insights into carbon dioxide utilization and water pollution co.trol through dielectric barrier discharge plasma technology.

Background Chicken is one of the most numerous and widely distributed species around the world,and many studies support the multiple ancestral origins of domestic *** research regarding the yellow skin phenotype in domestic chickens(regulated by Bco.)likely originating from the grey junglefowl serves as crucial evidence for demonstrating the multiple origins of ***,beyond the Bco. gene region,much remains unknown about the introgression from the grey junglefowl into domestic ***,in this study,based on wholegenome data of 149 samples including 4 species of wild junglefowls and 13 local domestic chicken breeds,we explored the introgression events from the grey junglefowl to domestic *** We successfully detected introgression regions besides Bco.,including two associated with growth trait(IGFBP2 and TKT),one associated with angiogenesis(TIMP3)and two members of the heat shock protein family(HSPB2 and CRYAB).Our findings suggest that the introgression from the grey junglefowl may impact the growth performance of ***,we revealed introgression events from grey junglefowl at the Bco. region in multiple domestic chicken breeds,indicating a phenomenon where the yellow skin phenotype likely underwent strong selection and was ***,our haplotype analysis shed light on Bco. introgression event from different sources of grey junglefowl into domestic chickens,possibly suggesting multiple genetic flows between the grey junglefowl and domestic *** In summary,our findings provide evidences of the grey junglefowl co.tributing to the genetic diversity of domestic chickens,laying the foundation for a deeper understanding of the genetic co.position within domestic chickens,and offering new perspectives on the impact of introgression on domestic chickens.

Novel interactions between introduced oaks and their natural enemies across different co.tinents provide an opportunity to test the enemy release hypothesis(ERH)at local and global *** on the ERH,we assessed the impacts of native seed-feeding insects on introduced and native oaks within and among *** co.bined a co.mon-garden experiment in China and biogeographic literature surveys to measure seed predation by insects and the proportion of aco.n embryos surviving after insect infestation among 4 oak species with different geographical origins:Quercus mongolica origin from China,*** and *** from Europe,and *** from North *** supporting the ERH,oaks in introduced co.tinents escaped seed predation co.pared to those in native co.tinents and co.pared to other native oaks in introduced ***-garden co.parisons showed that total aco.n infestation rate of introduced ***(section Lobatae)was co.siderably lower than that of native oaks(section Quercus)in China and Europe,likely because of the differences in seed traits associated with different oak *** surveys showed that seed predation of introduced oaks was lower in the introduced co.tinent than in the native *** survival was higher in introduced *** than native oaks in China and ***,insect seed predation of recently introduced *** in China was similar to that in Europe,which is not co.sistent with the *** results suggest that reduced aco.n attack by native insects and higher embryo survival after aco.n damage co.ld increase the establishment success or invasion risk of introduced oaks in non-native co.tinents.
