The influence of Al contents and heat treatments on magneto-mechanical hysteresis damping of Fe-Al alloys

摘 要:The influencing rules and mechanisms of Al contents and heat treatments on the magneto-mechanical hysteresis damping of Fe-Al alloys were investigated using a functional internal friction apparatus in this paper. It was shown that the air-cooled Fe-10.5(at.%) Al alloy possesses the optimum damping capacity and the Fe-29(at.)%Al and Fe-38(at.) %Al alloys have lower the damping than the Fe-10.5(at.%) Al alloy with the same heat treatments. The as-cast and water-quenched Fe-Al alloys exhibit the low damping capacity. In addition,the heat treatment temperature has an important effect on the damping capacity of the Fe-Al alloys. A appropriate heating temperature is necessary to obtain high damping capacity for Fe-Al alloys. The damping capacity of Fe-Al alloys is decreased when the heating temperature of heat treatments is enhanced.
