Objective:Acetaminophen(APAP)overdose is a common cause of liver *** study aimed to investigate the protective effect of honokiol(Hon)against APAP-induced hepatotoxicity and its potential ***:C57BL/6 mice were administrated with Hon(10 and 30 mg/kg)after APAP(300 mg/kg)*** 1.5 h and 5 h after Hon treatment,mice were *** and liver were *** then,liver injury-related indexes,APAP metabolism-related indexes,mitochondrial respiratory chain function-related indexes,and mitochondrial membrane function-related protein expression were ***:It was found that Hon significantly decreased serum alanine aminotransferase(ALT)/aspartate aminotransferase(AST)activity and glutathione(GSH)depletion,increased hepatic catalase(CAT)and GSH peroxidase(GSH-Px)activities,reduced hepatic MDA and 3-nitrotyrosine contents,inhibited hepatic CYP1A2 activity and APAP protein adducts(APAP-CYS)***,oxidative phosphorylation capacity of complex I and electron transfer capacity of complex IV in mitochondrial respiratory chain was increased,whereas the release of H2O2 in the mitochondria was decreased following Hon ***,Hon markedly down-regulated p-JNK in both cytosol and mitochondria,and obviously inhibited the release of apoptosis inducing factor(AIF)and endonuclease G(EndoG)from mitochondria to ***:Hon alleviated APAP-induced liver injury through the following pathways:Reducing the production of APAP-CYS by inhibiting CYP1A2 activity;Ameliorating hepatic oxidative stress by increasing the levels of hepatic CAT,GSH-Px and GSH;Improving mitochondrial respiratory chain function by promoting oxidative phosphorylation capacity of complex I and electron transfer capacity of complex IV;Improving the function of mitochondrial membrane by inhibiting p-JNK and its translocation to mitochondria,thereby reducing the release of AIF and EndoG.

Objective:To investigate the potential activity of protocatechuic acid in female Wistar rats with letrozole-induced polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS).Methods:Thirty rats were divided into five groups of six *** 1 received 0.5%carboxy methyl cellulose orally and served as the normal control group;group 2 was treated orally with 1 mg/kg of letrozole daily for 21 days and served as the PCOS induced group;group 3 was orally administered with letrozole of 1 mg/kg for 21 days and further administered with standard drug of clomiphene citrate at a dose of 1 mg/kg body weight in 0.5%carboxy methyl cellulose per oral and served as the standard group;groups 4 and 5 were administered with letrozole of 1 mg/kg for 21 days and further treated with protocatechuic acid orally at low dose of 5 mg/kg body weight and high dose of 15 mg/kg body weight respectively for 15 *** the end of the study period,rats were subjected for the estimation of invasive blood pressure and heart rate,biochemical estimations and antioxidant *** addition,ovarian histomorphology was ***:The PCOS was confirmed in the letrozole induced rats with increased concentration of androgen,abnormal lipid levels,glucose,glycosylated haemoglobin and also depletion of *** protocatechuic acid treatment,the increased levels of testosterone due to induction of PCOS were restored to normal ***,there was a consistent decrease in luteinizing hormone and follicle stimulating hormone levels in the treatment groups,followed by decrease in the number of cysts after treatment with protocatechuic *** observations showed a remarkable recovery of the ovarian tissue and the presence of normalized structure of antral *** acid treatment restored all the parameters to normalcy and abolished cysts formation in ovaries of female ***:Protocatechuic acid shows potential protective effects in letrozole-induced PCOS *** protective

White light-emitting diodes（WLEDs） as energy-saving light sources are widely used to alleviate the rising electric *** commercial WLEDs are blue/yellow-mixed emitting devices, which have some disadvantages, such as physiological damages of rich blue light, complex device structure and color aging. It is essential to develop single-component WLEDs with quasi-solar spectrum to overcome these problems. Here we demonstrate a high-performance single-component WLED based on donor-acceptor integrated carbon nitride（DACN） material. The donor-acceptor simultaneously increases the photoluminescence efficiency and the carrier mobility of graphitic carbon nitride（g-CN）, hence, the DACN-based WLED reaches a milestone in maximum luminance of 2,045 cd m-2and maximum external quantum efficiency of 2.2%, which are one order of magnitude higher than pristine g-CN-based LED. Furthermore, the DACN-based WLED emits broadband white light with color coordinates of（0.34, 0.44） and a color temperature of 5,163 K. Our works open a way to boost optoelectronic properties of g-CN materials and show their promising application in single-component WLEDs.

Hair coloring is widely used by women and men either to change their natural hair color or to delay the onset of gray hair. Oxidative dyes may damage the hair, since chemical and physical procedures are involved to alter the structure hair and consequently, alterations in its mechanical and of surface properties. One benefit of hair conditioners is to prevent flyaway hair, make the hair “shine”, and protect the hair from further damage. In this research we analyzed the hair protective effect conditioner agents Argania spinosa kernel oil and/or Theobroma grandiflorum seed butter in hair care on Caucasian hair post treatment with hair dye. The hairs were submitted by quantifying protein loss. The samples were classified as: hair untreated (I);hair treated with a commercial oxidative ultra-blond hair dye (II);hair post treatment II and F1: Base hair care formulation (III), hair post treatment II and F2: Base hair care formulation containing 1.0% (w/w) Argania spinosa kernel oil (IV), hair post treatment II and F3: Base hair care formulation containing 1.0% (w/w) Theobroma grandiflorum seed butter (V) and hair post treatment II and F4: Base hair care formulation containing 0.5% (w/w) Argania spinosa kernel oil and 0.5% (w/w) Theobroma grandiflorum seed butter (VI). For the protein loss, the results were: IIA = IIIA > IB = IVB = VB = VIB. Results classified with different letters present statistically significant differents, for α = 5, p ≤ 0.05, n = 6. Based on the results, the incorporation of conditioners agents Argania spinosa kernel oil and/or Theobroma grandiflorum seed butter in base hair care formulation applied in Caucasian hair post treatment with hair dye decreased the damage caused to hair by the coloring process.

A novel degradation method was investigated to synthesize highly biologically active flavan-3-ol derivatives in the presence of N-acetyl-L-cysteine(NAC)as a nucleophile under acidic conditions for polymerized proanthocyanidins *** reaction conditions were optimized by the combination of single-factor test and central composite experimental design(CCD).Grape seed proanthocyanidins were reacted with NAC at a ratio of 1:3 with 0.3 M methanolic HC1,a temperature of 55°C,and a reaction time of 50 *** of the degradation products were separated and prepared by one-step high-speed countercurrent chromatography(HSCCC)and preparative high-performance liquid chromatography(prep-HPLC).Three monomeric pro anthocyanidins and four new N-acetyl-L-cysteine derivatives were isolated from degradation products with total degradation yield of 55.44%and high purity over 95%.Furthermore,the neuroprotective abilities of these compounds to H2O2-treated PC-12 neuroblastoma cells were *** derivatives showed better antioxidant activity than their corresponding underivatized monomers and NAC,indicating that they had a better performance in protecting PC-12 cells from oxidative stress damage.

Lignans are a powerful weapon for plants to resist stresses and have diverse bioactive functions to protect human *** the mechanisms of stereoselective biosynthesis and response to stresses of lignans is important for the guidance of plant ***,we identified the complete pathway to stereoselectively synthesize antiviral(-)-lariciresinol glucosides in Isatis indigotica roots,which consists of three-step sequential stereoselective enzymes DIR1/2,PLR,and ***1 was further identified as the key gene in respoJanuary 2024nse to stresses and was able to trigger stress defenses by mediating the elevation in lignan ***,the phytohormone-responsive ERF transcription factor LTF1 colocalized with DIR1 in the cell periphery of the vascular regions in mature roots and helped resist biotic and abiotic stresses by directly regulating the expression of *** systematic results suggest that DIR1 as the first common step of the lignan pathway cooperates with PLR and UGT71B2 to stereoselectively synthesize(-)-lariciresinol derived antiviral lignans in *** roots and is also a part of the LTF1-mediated regulatory network to resist *** conclusion,the LTF1-DIR1 module is an ideal engineering target to improve plant Defenses while increasing the content of valuable lignans in plants.
