We formulated new skin care cosmetics with lamella structure in which high amount of pseudo-ceramides were incorporated. consistency of this lamellar gel creams were checked for 1 month on various temperatures and for 1 year on rT. Generally, multi-lamellar emulsion shows typical Maltese cross on polarized microscope, but Maltese cross was not found in case of these creams; Multi-lamellar structure of the creams could be identifed by small-angle X-ray scattering （SAXS）. To evaluate skin barrier recovery function, we applied one of this creams and a vehicle cream to forearm skin which is tape-stripped to remove barrier layer to see if they infuence mass of molecules related to barrier function. 96 h after application, we found that this lamellar gel cream promoted synthesis of ceramides, amino acids and NMFs, thereby enhanced barrier recovery function.

Many studies on aging have focused on evaluating differences between older and younger people, but only a few have focused on differences in skin properties among subjects from the same age group according to their skin aging status. In this study, we evaluated the facial skin condition and life style factors in 110 Korean women aged 25 to 35 in an attempt to evaluate factors which may affect the skin aging status in the initial aging phase. The facial skin condition of 110 healthy Korean women was assessed over two successive 6-month periods, summer and winter. Using clinical assessments including aging, wrinkles and skin’s elasticity values, the subjects were divided into 7 groups. Then, various facial skin conditions and life style factors were examined between a severe aging group and mild aging group. In the severe aging group, the mean value pH was lower and the mean value of water content was slightly lower than that of women in the mild aging group. Also, the seasonal site variation in water content and sebum secretion level were significantly higher in the severe aging group than in the mild aging group. Topical sunscreen using percentage was not significantly different between the two groups. However, the number of cosmetic subject use was slightly higher in the mild aging group than in the severe aging group. The study suggested that there were several differences in skin characteristics between women in the severe aging group and in the mild aging group at the initial aging phase. Seasonal site variation between cheek and forehead was the most dominant differences. We also considered that life style factors such as cosmetic use could affect skin aging status.

Lack of sleep is a problem in today’s society, and many people are concerned about changes in their outward appearance due to lack of sleep. People generally come up with some noticeable skin attributes as symptoms of sleep deficiency including rough, dull, and dry skin as well as droopy eyelids and dark eye circles. Several previous reports also suggested that poor sleep could affect the skin condition. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of one night of sleep deprivation on various skin biophysical properties. Twenty four healthy females participated in a study of one night of sleep deprivation. Subjects were kept awake for one night in a laboratory with controlled temperature and relative humidity. The skin condition of each subject was evaluated after normal sleep pattern and after one night of sleep deprivation. The measured skin biophysical parameters included transepidermal water loss, facial pore size, and skin tone, hydration, elasticity, desquamation, translucency, and blood flow. The cheek, eye, and lip areas were evaluated. After one night of sleep deprivation, multiple skin biophysical parameters showed changes when compared to the baseline measurements. A significant decrease in skin hydration and impaired barrier function were observed (p decreased hydration led to decreased skin elasticity and translucency and increased skin scaling (p res were more conspicuous, and skin lightness decreased significantly (p rthermore, skin blood flow decreased prominently (p results demonstrated that the skin features that are recognized as symptoms of sleep deficiency actually showed remarkable differences after a period of sleep deprivation, and some of these features were confirmed in the eye, lip, as well as the cheek areas. This study revealed a significant association between sleep deprivation and skin biophysical properties by scientific measuring.

With the exception of conditions such as dandruff, interest in the scalp is relatively low. However, when we consider the scalp as part of the skin, interesting observations can be made. The average amount of sebum secretion in the scalp varies depending on sex. Several studies show differences in scalp characteristics among races, but in some cases, these are difficult to find. The scalp has a weaker barrier function than does facial skin. The reason for the weak barrier function is unclear, but it is necessary to consider the effect of dandruff on the scalp. Growth of dandruff-related bacteria weakens the barrier. However, strengthening the barrier suppresses dandruff. In other words, there is an interdependency between scalp bacteria and skin, which is important for the maintenance of scalp barrier homeostasis. Anxiety regarding a sensitive scalp is as high as that for sensitive skin. At least 40% - 50% of individuals in modern society have complaints such as itching due to a sensitive scalp. The sensitivity of the scalp is similar between races. This is not a skin disease, but we have to think about how problems that customers face can be solved. Skin barrier and sensitive scalp are closely related. collectively, strengthening or lowering the effect on the scalp barrier may result in a healthy scalp environment. As a result, it will alleviate people’s complaints about the scalp.

Psychological stress can impair epidermal barrier function by inhibiting the proliferation and differentiation of *** this study,the effect of stress hormone on skin microorganisms was confirmed through an in vitro ***,a typical stress hormone,inhibited the growth of skin microbes,especially Staphylococcus epidermidis,which is a commensal skin *** cortisol enhanced the adhesion of the pathogenic bacterium Staphylococcus aureus to *** fermented lysate of Lactiplantibacillus isolated from green tea leaves(LFL)affected the growth of skin microbes in the opposite manner to cortisol,and increased the expression of a keratinocyte differentiation marker that was suppressed by cortisol and ***,LFL inhibited the adhesion of *** to *** modulating effect of LFL on the growth and adhesion of skin microbes was unaffected by the presence of *** also alleviated cell damage in reconstructed human epidermis caused by *** results suggest that LFL may be useful as a cosmetic ingredient capable of controlling skin microbiome balance and protecting skin health against psychological stress.

Long term exposure of skin to high temperature induces activation of transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily V member 1(TrPV-1), as well as increase of matrix metalloprotease 9(MMP-9), which breaks down extracellular matrix in skin. Thus, along with photo-aging, heat also accelerates skin-aging as a long term effect. Here, heat-absorbing substances with heat energy-blocking effects were screened, and the blockage rate was calculated as "Thermal Protection Factor(TPF)". Herbal plant extracts such as Prunus Mume fruit extract and Chamaecyparis Obtusa polysaccharide were able to reduce skin damage by reducing TrPV-1 activation, heat-induced MMP-9 expression and other heat-induced inflammatory responses such as monocyte chemoattractant protein-1(MCP-1) expression. Also, a cream containing heat-absorbing and modulating actives showed statistically significant skin elasticity and redness-controlling effects in a clinical study.

It is required to understand the skin color in developing makeup cosmetics. In this study, we aimed to develop the customized BB cream color for Chinese women by understanding their skin color and color preference. It is known that Chinese women have light yellow color, and yellowness and darkening induced by age are evident for the Chinese women. Based on previous studies, we developed two colors and evaluated color preference. The result was that Chinese women preferred pinkish color to yellowish color. We applied this result to BB cream and proposed Chinese customized color. This study demonstrates that the sensuous and rational approach for satisfying color needs and expectations is beneficial in developing makeup cosmetics.

Several reports have promoted the root-derived Korean red ginseng （KrG; Panax ginseng） as alternative treatment for erectile dysfunction （Ed）, and ginsenosides are known to be the principal active ingredients of ginseng. recent studies showed that ginseng berries produce more ginsenosides than KrG; thus, we investigated the ability of the Korean ginseng berry extract GB0710 to relax the penile corpus cavernosum smooth muscle （CCSM） in this study. As a comparative control, the results were compared to those obtained using KrG. In addition, possible mechanisms of action for GB0710 were investigated. While KrG and GB0710 both displayed dose-dependent relaxation effects on precontracted rabbit CCSM in vitro, GB0710 was shown to be more potent than KrG. The GBO710-induced relaxation could be partially reduced by removing the endothelium. In addition, pre-treatment with several nitric oxide （NO） inhibitors significantly inhibited the relaxation of muscle strips. Furthermore, administration of GB0710 increased intracavernosal pressure （ICP） in a rat in vivo model in both a dose- and duration-dependent manner. Intracellular NO production in human microvascular endothelial cells could be induced by GB0710 and inhibited by NG-monomethyI-L-arginine. In conclusion, GB0710 had a greater relaxation effect on rabbit CCSM than did KrG extract, and increased ICP in a rat model in both a dose- and a duration-dependent manner. This relaxine effect might be mediated bv NO production.

表皮分化在皮肤老化和水合过程中可能发挥关键作用。特别是丝聚蛋白的表达直接参与了皮肤的屏障功能和表皮天然保湿因子(NMFS)的合成。丹参(Salvia miltiorrhiza)是一味常见中药,在中国已经有数百年的使用历史,但其对皮肤的影响尚未得到评估。在本研究中,我们发现丹参提取物(ESM)可以刺激正常人角质细胞和Amo re Skin(本实验室建立的重建人类皮肤模型)中丝聚蛋白的表达。实时定量PCr试验证实了这一结论,丹参提取物(ESM)干预能够上调角质细胞中丝聚蛋白m rNA的表达。免疫染色试验证实丹参提取物(ESM)干预后Amo re Skin中丝聚蛋白的表达增加。此外,实时定量PCr试验也证实角质细胞中表皮分化的标志物角蛋白1 m rNA的量增多。这些结果表明,丹参提取物(ESM)可以增强表皮分化和水合的活性,可能会增强表皮对抗皮肤老化的功能。

在各种的清洁类产品中,洁面膏的使用频率最高。为了研究中国女性偏爱的洁面膏产品特性和配方类型,我们采用居家使用的方式(HUT)对5种不同的产品进行测试。测试对象为100名在上海生活的年龄在20到39岁的女性。测试对象不会被告知产品名称,5种产品都只有编号。测试者每天测试2次,两周内每个产品被测4次。调查问卷由整体满意度,清洁过程中的满意度和产品使用后满意度组成,评价因素包括:产品质地,皮肤感觉(舒爽感、光滑度),泡沫量等。测试对象由20名年龄20到24岁,60名年龄25到34岁,以及20名年龄35到39岁的女性组成,平均年龄为29.8岁。在各特性中,洁面膏使用中和使用后的皮肤感觉与整体满意度密切相关,而泡沫特性与整体满意度并无关联。研究结果表明:中国消费者,特别是上海地区的消费者,最关注的洁面膏品质特性是皮肤使用感,这一结果对开发适合中国消费的产品具有很好的指导意义。
