Currencies of greater interest for central Asian economies:an analysis of exchange market pressure amid global and regional interdependence

Central Asian Economies(CAEs)have diverse exchange rate *** have recorded higher volatility in the foreign exchange market since *** volatility of the transition era has drifted these economies towards partial *** authorities in CAEs,(already have a challenge of maintaining monetary policy autonomy)have a gigantic task of price stability and stopping the spread of *** study is directed towards assessing the drivers and the determinants of foreign exchange market pressure in *** results,based on panel data analysis and the System GMM model,have provided useful insights about the exchange market pressure determinants particularly USD,Euro,Ruble,and *** results show that China and Russia exchange market pressure has a negative effect on the exchange market pressure of *** the dollar index shows a positive impact on the exchange market pressure of ***,the findings imply that China and Russia currency appreciation results in a trade deficit across *** policy implication suggests that the floating exchange rate regime(inflation targeting regime)is not in favor of CAEs,and they must use managed-float to reduce their trade deficits.

This paper explores and extends understanding of the role and significance of whole-of-society resilience pro-grammes that support cities when dealing with complex crises,like the COVID-19 *** the complexity of whole-of-society resilience as different actors locally shape it,we ask the question:How can collab-oration between formal and informal resilience practices help to enhance resilience across the‘whole-of-society’?We answer this question by reviewing the importance of whole-of-society resilience and its complexity in a city’s governance of the COVID-19 *** argue that the necessity of renewing approaches to building lo-cal resilience capabilities across the whole-of-society requires synchronisation across and between formal and informal approaches-that is,“bottom-up”and governmental initiatives-to meet the diverse needs of ***,we detail two recent practice-orientated initiatives that have taken a renewal approach to building resilience through the involvement of whole-of-society in planning recovery from COVID-19 using in-ternational standard ISO/TS 22393;and a new initiative called the National Consortium for Societal Resilience[UK+].Finally,we signpost a set of critical questions for whole-of-society resilience practice.

Do business groups affect corporate cash holdings?Evidence from a transition economy

We examine whether business groups' influence on cash holdings depends on ownership. Group affiliation can increase firms' agency costs or benefit firms by providing an internal capital market, especially in transition economies characterized by weak investor protection and difficult external capital acquisition. A hand-collected dataset of Chinese firms reveals that group affiliation decreases cash holdings, alleviating the free-cash-flow problem of agency *** ownership and control of listed firms moderate this benefit, which is more pronounced when the financial market is less liquid. Group affiliation facilitates related-party transactions, increases debt capacity and decreases investmentcash-flow sensitivity and overinvestment. In transitional economies, privately controlled firms are more likely to benefit from group affiliation than statecontrolled firms propped up by the government.

This study delves into the formation dynamics of alliances within a closed-loop supply chain(CLSC)that encom-passes a manufacturer,a retailer,and an e-commerce *** leverages Stackelberg game for this exploration,contrasting the equilibrium outcomes of a non-alliance model with those of three differentiated alliance *** non-alliance model acts as a crucial benchmark,enabling the evaluation of the motivations for various supply chain entities to engage in alliance *** analysis is centered on identifying the most effective alliance strategies and establishing a coordination within these *** thoroughly investigate the consequences of diverse alliance behaviors,bidirectional free-riding and cost-sharing,and the resultant effects on the optimal decision-making among supply chain *** findings underscore several pivotal insights:(1)The behavior of alliances within the supply chain exerts variable impacts on the optimal pricing and demand of its *** comparison to the non-alliance(D)model,the manufacturer-retailer(MR)and manufacturer-e-commerce platform(ME)alliances significantly lower both offline and online resale prices for new and remanufactured *** adjustment leads to an enhanced demand for products via the MR alliance’s offline outlets and the ME alliance’s online platforms,thereby augmenting the profits for those within the ***,retailer-e-commerce platform(ER)alliance tends to increase the optimal retail price and demand across both online and offline *** specific conditions,alliance behavior can also increase the profits of non-alliance members,and the profits derived through alliance channels also exceed those from non-alliance channels.(2)The prevalence of bidirectional free-riding behavior largely remains constant across different alliance *** these models,bidirectional free-riding typically elevates the equilibrium prices in offline channel while negatively affe

This paper discusses review of literature of open shop scheduling problems. First, the problem is classified as per different measures of performance, viz., minimization of makespan, minimization of sum of completion times of jobs, minimization of sum of weighted completion times of all jobs, minimization of total tardiness of all jobs, minimization of sum of weighted tardiness of all jobs, minimization of weighted sum of tardy jobs, and miscellaneous measures of the open shop scheduling problem. In each category, the literature is further classified based on approaches used and then the contributions of researchers in the respective categories are presented. Directions for future research are discussed in the end.

The water-lubricated thrust bearings of the marine rim-driven thruster(RDT)are usually composed of polymer composites,which are prone to serious wear under harsh working *** is an excellent non-destructive monitoring technology,but polymer materials are characterized by viscoelasticity,heterogeneity,and large acoustic attenuation,making it challenging to extract ultrasonic echo ***,this paper proposes a wear monitoring method based on the amplitude spectrum of the ultrasonic reflection *** effects of bearing parameters,objective function,and algorithm parameters on the identification results are simulated and *** the correlation coefficient and root mean square error as the matching parameters,the thickness,sound velocity,density,and attenuation factor of the bearing are inversed simultaneously by utilizing the differential evolution algorithm(DEA),and the wear measurement system is *** order to verify the identification accuracy of this method,an accelerated wear test under heavy load was executed on a multi-functional vertical water lubrication test rig with poly-ether-etherketone(PEEK)fixed pad and stainless-steel thrust collar as the *** thickness of pad was measured using the high-precision spiral micrometer and ultrasonic testing system,***,the results demonstrate that the thickness identification error of this method is approximately 1%,and in-situ monitoring ability will be realized in the future,which is of great significance to the life prediction of bearings.
