Positive effects of applying endophytic bacteria in eggplant-Sedum intercropping system on Cd phytoremediation and vegetable production in cadmium polluted greenhouse

The combination of intercropping and phytoremediation in the remediation of cadmium contaminated soil is an emerging model in recent years,but the results of previous studies are *** the field experiment,eggplant was intercropped with hyperaccumula-tor Sedum alfredii Hance(inoculated or not inoculated with endophytic bacteria)to study the effects of intercropping on vegetable safety production,phytoremediation efficiency of hyperaccumulator and variation of soil available *** results showed that the in-tercropping treatment had a negative effect on the growth of eggplant and Sedum,but en-dophyte SaMR12 alleviated the inhibition of intercropping on plant *** treatment increases the Cd concentration in edible part of eggplant to 1.34 mg/kg compared with eggplant monoculture(1.19 mg/kg).While the application of SaMR12 reduces the Cd concentration of eggplant fruit to 0.95 mg/kg and significantly promotes the Cd uptake by ***'s more surprising is that compared with eggplant monocropping,the con-tent of soil available nitrogen,phosphorus and potassium in the treatment of intercropping with inoculated Sedum increased *** according to the correlation analysis of various indexes of plants and soil,the Cd content of eggplant is negatively correlated with the available phosphorus and potassium in the soil,while the Cd content of Sedum is positively correlated with it,which suggested that the application of phosphorus and potas-sium fertilizers in this experimental site was beneficial to reduce Cd content in eggplant and improve Cd phytoextraction of ***,in the daily production of moderately Cd-contaminated soil,intercropping eggplant with Sedum inoculated with endophytic bacteria is an excellent Phytoextraction Coupled with Agro-safe-production(PCA)pattern.

Ellagic Acid Enhances Antioxidant System Activity and Maintains the Quality of Strawberry Fruit during Storage

Ellagic acid(EA)is a natural antioxidant,widely present in a lot of forms’soft fruits,nuts,and other plant tissues,and helpful for promoting human health;however,its protective effect on postharvest fruit and improving the quality index of postharvest fruit have rarely been *** this experiment,the strawberries were soaked in 0,100,200,300,400,and 500 mg L^(−1) EA,respectively,and the influential EA on fruit quality and the antioxidant system of strawberries were *** with the control,EA treatment can reduce the browning degree and rotting rate of strawberry fruit during storage and augment the soluble solid content(SSC).EA treatment can also increase the content of related stuff and enzyme activity in antioxidant systems;the gene expression level of polyphenol oxidase(PPO)in strawberries treated with EA was always down-regulated,correspondingly,the expression of other antioxidant enzyme genes was *** the strawberry fruits treated with EA of different concentrations,300 mg L^(−1) EA had the best effect in the process of strawberry *** results suggested that the proper concentration of exogenous EA at 300 mg L−1 could maintain strawberries’quality and enhance the antioxidant system by improving the activities of antioxidative enzymes and the ascorbateglutathione(AsA-GSH)cycle during storage.

Acanthopagrus latus is an essential aquaculture species on the south coast of ***,there is a lack of systematic breeding of ***,which considerably limits the sustainable development of *** a result,genetic improvements are urgently needed to breed new strains of *** with rapid growth and strong resistance to *** selective breeding,it is necessary to estimate the genetic parameters of the target trait,which in turn depends on an accurate disentangled pedigree for the selective ***,it is necessary to establish the parentage assignment technique for *** this study,95 individuals selected from their parents and their 14 families were used as experimental *** were developed by genome resequencing,and highly polymorphic SNPs were screened on the basis of optimized filtering parameters.A total of 14392738 SNPs were discovered and 205 SNPs were selected for parentage assignment using the CERVUS *** the model where the gender of the parents is known,the assignment success rate is 98.61%for the male parent,97.22%for the female parent,and 95.83%for the parent *** the model where the gender of the parents is unknown,the assignment success rate is 100%for a single parent and 90.28%for the parent *** results of this study were expected to serve as a reference for the breeding of new varieties of ***.

Application Status and Development Measures of Biogas Fertilizer in Agricultural Production

Biogas fertilizer is widely used in agricultural production,and it can be used in a variety of ways,including liquid spraying,root fertilization,presoaking and biological pesticides,*** can improve soil structure,increase the content of soil organic matter and available nutrients,and increase crop *** addition,there are some problems in the utilization of biogas *** details that need to be paid attention to and can not be ignored should be further studied and discussed to achieve a final principle of harmonious,safe and efficient use,so as to ensure the benefit maximization of biogas fertilizer as an economic fertilizer ***,this paper summarizes the main ways and methods,existing problems and corresponding development measures concerning the application of biogas fertilizer in agriculture,in order to provide some reference for the utilization of biogas fertilizer in the field of agriculture and make it universal,safe and stable.

Synthesis of MgO-doped ordered mesoporous carbons by Mg^(2+)-tannin coordination for efficient isomerization of glucose to fructose

In-situ MgO-doped ordered mesoporous carbon(OMC@MgO)was fabricated by formaldehyde-free self-assembly method,in which biomass-derived tannin was used as carbon precursor replacing fossil-based phenolics,Mg^(2+)as both cross-linker and precursor of catalytic *** to~20 wt% MgO could be doped in the carbon skeleton with good dispersion retaining well-ordered mesoporous structures,while more MgO content(35 wt%)led to the failing in the formation of ordered mesoporous *** OMC@MgO possessed a high specific surface area(298.8 m^(2) g^(-1)),uniform pore size distribution(4.8 nm)and small crystallite size of MgO(1.73 nm)due to the confinement effect of ordered mesoporous *** OMC@MgO as the heterogeneous catalyst,a maximum fructose yield of 32.4% with a selectivity up to 81.1%was achieved from glucose in water(90℃,60 min),which is much higher than that obtained using the MgO doped active carbon via conventional post-impregnation method(26.5%yield with 58.3% selectivity).Higher reaction temperature(>90℃)resulted in decrease of selectivity due to the formation of *** designed OMC@MgO displayed tolerant to high initial glucose concentrations(10 wt%)and could remain good recyclability without significant loss of activity for three cycles.

Effects of exogenous ABA application on post-anthesis dry matter redistribution and grain starch accumulation of winter wheat with different staygreen characteristics

The objective of this study was to investigate whether and how exogenous abscisic acid(ABA)is involved in mediating starch accumulation in the grain and redistribution of carbohydrates during grain filling of two wheat cultivars with different staygreen *** blooming stage,plants of Wennong 6(a staygreen cultivar)and Jimai 20(control)were sprayed with10 mg L-1abscisic acid(ABA)for 3 *** application of ABA significantly(P<0.05)increased grain filling rate,starch accumulation rate and content,remobilization of dry matters to kernels,and 1000-grain weight of the two *** ABA markedly(P<0.05)increased grain yield at maturity,and Wennong 6 and Jiami 20 showed 14.14%and 4.86%higher compared yield than the *** matter accumulation after anthesis of Wennong 6 was also significantly(P<0.05)influenced by exogenous ABA,whereas that of Jimai 20 was *** of ABA increased endogenous zeatin riboside(ZR)content 7 days after anthesis(DAA),and spraying ABA significantly increased endogenous indole-3-acetic acid(IAA)and ABA contents from 7 to 21 DAA and decreased gibberellin(GA3)content at 14 DAA,but increased GA3content from 21 to 35 *** results suggested that increased yield of staygreen was due to greater starch assimilation owing to a higher filling rate and longer grain-filling duration.

Beak Measurements of Octopus (Octopus variabilis) in Jiaozhou Bay and Their Use in Size and Biomass Estimation

Cephalopods play key roles in global marine ecosystems as both predators and *** estimation of original size and weight of cephalopod from beak measurements is a powerful tool of interrogating the feeding ecology of predators at higher trophic *** this study,regressive relationships among beak measurements and body length and weight were determined for an octopus species(Octopus variabilis),an important endemic cephalopod species in the northwest Pacific Ocean.A total of 193 individuals(63 males and 130 females) were collected at a monthly interval from Jiaozhou Bay,*** relationships among 6 beak measurements(upper hood length,UHL;upper crest length,UCL;lower hood length,LHL;lower crest length,LCL;and upper and lower beak weights) and mantle length(ML),total length(TL) and body weight(W) were *** showed that the relationships between beak size and TL and beak size and ML were linearly regressive,while those between beak size and W fitted a power function *** and UCL were the most useful measurements for estimating the size and biomass of *** relationships among beak measurements and body length(either ML or TL) were not significantly different between two sexes;while those among several beak measurements(UHL,LHL and LBW) and body weight(W) were sexually *** male individuals of this species have a slightly greater body weight distribution than female individuals,the body weight was not an appropriate measurement for estimating size and biomass,especially when the sex of individuals in the stomachs of predators was *** relationships provided essential information for future use in size and biomass estimation of ***,as well as the estimation of predator/prey size ratios in the diet of top predators.

Effects of L-arginine and L-citrulline supplementation in reduced protein diets for broilers under normal and cyclic warm temperature

Heat stress causes significant economic losses in the broiler *** supplementation of arginine(Arg)and citrulline(Cit)might increase the performance of broilers raised under warm temperature due to vasodilation *** study investigated the effects of L-Arg or L-Cit supplementation in broilers fed a reduced protein wheat-based diet deficient in Arg under thermoneutral(NT)and cyclic warm temperature(WT).Ross 308 cockerels(n=720)were randomly allocated to 4 dietary treatments with 12 replicates of 15 birds per pen from d 7 to *** 4 treatments were:normal protein(NP),i.e.,22.3%and 20.9%crude protein in grower and finisher,respectively;reduced protein(RP),i.e.,2.5%lower protein and deficient in Arg;and RP supplemented with 0.28%Arg(RP-Arg)or 0.28%Cit(RP-Cit).A factorial arrangement of treatments was applied during the finisher phase(21 to 35 d).Factors were:diet(4 diets above);and temperature,NT(24℃)or cyclic WT(33±1℃for 6 h per day)with 6 replicate pens per *** 7 to 35 d and 21 to 35 d,the birds fed the RP diet had lower body weight gain(BWG)and higher FCR compared to the NP diet(P0.05)compared to birds exposed to *** by temperature interactions were not observed for performance parameters during the period of WT(P>0.05).On d 35,the RP-fed birds had a lower yield of thigh and drumstick,higher fat pad,lower femur ash,and breaking strength but similar serum uric acid level and higher nitrogen digestibility on d 21 compared to those offered NP(P<0.05).Supplementation of Arg or Cit to RP resulted in increased femur ash on d 35(P<0.05).Thus,feeding the NP diets is necessary to maintain growth performance in broilers regardless of the temperature conditions.

Background:Immunological stress decreases feed intake,suppresses growth and induces economic ***,the underlying molecular mechanism remains ***-free liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry(LC-MS)proteomics techniques were employed to investigate effects of immune stress on the hepatic proteome changes of Arbor Acres broilers(Gallus Gallus domesticus)challenged with Escherichia coli lipopolysaccharide(LPS).Results:Proteomic analysis indicated that 111 proteins were differentially expressed in the liver of broiler chickens from the immune stress *** these,28 proteins were down-regulated,and 83 proteins were up-regulated in the immune stress *** analysis showed that immune stress upregulated the expression of hepatic proteins involved in defense function,amino acid catabolism,ion transport,wound healing,and hormone ***,immune stress increased valine,leucine and isoleucine degradation ***:The data suggests that growth depression of broiler chickens induced by immune stress is triggered by hepatic proteome alterations,and provides a new insight into the mechanism by which immune challenge impairs poultry production.
