OBJECTIVE:To investigate the relationship between smoking and drinking and constitution types from Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)***:The Constitution in Chinese Medicine Questionnaire(CCMQ)was used.A sample of 8448subjects from nine provinces and municipalities was chosen from the database of the TCM constitution and health status *** ratio and correspondence analysis were used to find the relationship between smoking and drinking and TCM ***:There was an association between smokinganddrinkingandtheGentleness,phlegm-dampness,and dampness-heat type *** that did not smoke tobacco or drink alcohol tended to have Yang-deficiency,Yin-deficiency,Qi-depression,Qi-deficiency,special diathesis,orblood-stasis type ***:There was a significant correlation between tobacco and alcohol use and TCM *** improve patient health,more attention should be paid to tobacco and alcohol control.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of Wen-Luo-Tong Granules(WLT) local administration in the treatment of patients with peripheral neuropathy(PN) induced by chemotherapy or target therapy. Methods: This study is a randomized, double-blinded, and placebo-controlled trial. Seventy-eight patients with PN induced by chemotherapy or target therapy were enrolled from china-japan friendship hospital between July 2019 and January 2020. They were randomly assigned to WLT(39 cases) and control groups(39 cases) using a block randomization method. The WLT group received WLT(hand and foot bath) plus oral Mecobalamin for 1 week, while the control group received placebo plus oral Mecobalamin. The primary endpoint was PN grade evaluated by the National Cancer Institute-Common Toxicity Criteria for Adverse Events(NCI-CTCAE). The secondary endpoints included quantitative touch-detection threshold, neuropathy symptoms, Quality of Life QuestionnaireChemotherapy Induced Peripheral Neuropathy(QLQ-CIPN20), and Quality of Life Questionnaire-Core30(QLQ-C30). Results: After treatment, the PN grade in the WLT group was significantly lower than that in the control group(1.00±0.29 vs. 1.75±0.68, Padministration was significantly effective in the treatment of patients with PN induced by chemotherapy or target therapy.(Trial registration No. ChiCTR1900023862)

Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) is a severe contagious disease. Based on the current etiological study, SARS-CoV is thought to be the cause of SARS,[1,2] and the disease is transmitted mainly by respiratory droplets within a near distance and close contactwith a patient's secretions. The diagnosis of SARS depends on epidemiologicalhistory, clinical symptoms and signs, laboratory tests, and imaging findings, all of which will be discussed in this report for better understanding and control of SARS.

Damage to synaptic plasticity induced by neurotoxicity of amyloid-beta is regarded to be one of the pathological mechanisms of learning and memory disabilities in Alzheimer＇s disease patients. This study assumed that the damage of amyloid-beta to learning and memory abilities was strongly associated with the changes in the Fyn/N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor 2B （NR2B） expression. An APP695V7171 transgenic mouse model of Alzheimer＇s disease was used and treatment with tetrahydroxy-stilbene glucoside was administered intragas- trically. Results showed that intragastric administration of tetrahydroxy-stilbene glucoside improved the learning and memory abilities of the transgenic mice through increasing NR2B receptors and Fyn expression. It also reversed parameters for synaptic interface structure of gray type I. These findings indicate that tetrahydroxy stilbene glucoside has protective effects on the brain, and has prospects for its clinical application to improve the learning and memory abilities and treat Alzheimer＇s disease.

OBJECTIVE:To observe the effect of tetrahydroxy stilbene glucoside(TSG) on the behavior of APP695V717 I transgenic mouse models and the expression of autophagy-associated proteins Beclin-1and LC3-Ⅱ.METHODS:Forty 3-month-old APP695V717 I transgenic mice were randomized equally into either a TSG group(n = 20) or a model group(n = 20).A normal control group consisted of C57BL/6J mice of the same age and background(n = 20).The TSG group received TSG intragastric administration for1 *** was measured using the Morris water maze and the Y-maze *** in protein expression and mRNA of autophagy-associated Beclin-1 and LC3-Ⅱ in mice hippocampus were detected by western blot and Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction(RT-PCR) ***:The number of electric-stimulus escapes significantly increased and the Morris water maze test showed prolonged escape latency,greater swimming distance,less time taken to cross the exact former platform location in the model group,and increased mRNA and protein expressions of Beclin-1 and LC3-Ⅱ compared with the control group(P < 0.05).The TSG group showed a decrease in the number of electric-stimulus escapes,shorter escape latency and swimming distance,greater time taken to cross the exact former platform location,and decreased mRNA and protein expressions of Beclin-1 and LC3-Ⅱ compared with the model group(P< 0.05).CONCLUSION:These results indicate that tetrahydroxy stilbene glucoside can decrease expressions of Beclin-1 and LC3-Ⅱ in the autophagy *** can attenuate injury to endoplasmic reticulum functions caused by Ab neurotoxicity,improving learning,memorizing,and spatial orientation behavior in mice.

Pathological Observation of Blood Stasis Syndrome in Non-diabetic Peripheral Neuropathies:A Retrospective Analysis Based on Nerve Biopsy

Objective To investigate the pathological features of blood stasis syndrome(BSS)in non-diabetic peripheral *** Clinical data of 31 patients with non-diabetic peripheral neuropathy who had undergone nerve biopsy during December 2004 and December 2010 in Xuanwu hospital Capital Medical University were retrospectively *** to Chinese medicine(CM)syndrome differentiation and signs,26 patients were blood stasis type and 5 patients were non-blood stasis *** and pathological data were compared in *** Clinically,although both groups shared similar symptoms of limb numbness,weakness and sensory disturbances,the prevalence of neuralgia was much grievous in BSS group(73.1%,26/31)compared with the non-BSS group(0%,0/5).As for signs,dermal nutrients disturbance(84.6%,22/26),dark or purple tongue(100.0%,26/26),and sublingual varices(80.7%,21/26)were more common in the BSS group than the non-BSS group(0%,60%,20%,respectively).The prevalence of qi deficiency cases(19/26)in the BSS group was significantly higher compared with the non-BSS group(1/5).The unique histological manifestations of BSS were axonal degeneration(16/26 vs 2/5 in non-BSS group),which was the hallmark of *** with BSS had prominent microangiopathy(61.5%,16/26),manifested as epineurium vasculitis(inflammatory cell infiltrated to the vessel wall,obliteration and recanalization,vascular proliferation,extravascular hemosiderin deposition),angiotelectasis,proliferation and hyaline degeneration of endoneurium *** the BSS group,impaired blood-nerve barrier was indicated by sub-perineurial edema(46.2%,11/26)and endoneurial edema(15.4%,4/26).The Renaut body(15.4%,4/26)and amyloid deposition(3.8%,1/26)found in the BSS group were absent in the non-BSS *** BBS was common in non-diabetic peripheral *** nerves exhibited ischemic alteration of primary axon degeneration and secondary *** interstitial tissue revealed micr

The rationale for the antibiotic treatment of viral community-acquired pneumonia(CAP)in adults was analyzed to develop a clinical reference standard for this *** data from 166 patients diagnosed with viral pneumonia across 14 hospitals in Beijing from November 2010 to December 2017 were *** indications for medications were evaluated,and the rationale for the use of antibiotics was analyzed.A total of 163(98.3%)patients with viral pneumonia were treated with antibiotics.A combination of C-reactive protein(CRP)and procalcitonin(PCT)was used as markers to analyze the possible indications for antibiotic *** threshold levels set at 0.25µg/L for PCT and 20 mg/L for CRP,the rate of unreasonable use of antibiotics was 55.2%.By contrast,at a CRP level threshold of 60 mg/L,the rate of antibiotic misuse was 77.3%.A total of 39 of the 163(23.9%)patients did not meet the guidelines for drug selection for viral CAP in *** unreasonable use of antibacterial drugs for the treatment of viral CAP in adults is a serious *** must reduce the unnecessary use of antibiotics.

Vascular smooth muscle cell(VSMC) proliferation and migration are pivotal for the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis and post-angioplasty restenosis. We have recently reported that a disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin motifs-7(ADAMTS-7), a novel metalloproteinase, contributes directly to neointima formation by mediating VSMC migration. However, whether ADAMTS-7 affects VSMC proliferation remains unclear. In this study, we found that luminal adenoviral delivery of ADAMTS-7 aggravated intimal hyperplasia 7 d after injury, paralleled by an increased percentage of PCNA-positive cells in both intima and media. In contrast, perivascular administration of ADAMTS-7 si RNA, but not scrambled si RNA to injured arteries attenuated intimal thickening at day 7, paralleled with reduced intimal VSMC replication, without alteration of VSMC proliferation in the media. In accordance, [3H]-thymidine incorporation assay in primary cultured rat VSMCs revealed an enhanced replication rate(by 61%) upon ADAMTS-7 overexpression and retarded proliferation(by 23%) upon ADAMTS-7 si RNA administration. Our data demonstrates that ADAMTS-7 promotes VSMC proliferation both in vitro and in vivo. ADAMTS-7 may therefore serve as a novel therapeutic target for atherosclerosis and post-angioplasty restenosis.
