Ultrafine amorphous alloy powders of spherical shape with diameters from 10 to 50nm for Fe-Ni-B and Fe-Cr-B were prepared by chemical reduction. The amorphous structure of two powders was identified by X-ray diffraction. The B concentrations for the two alloy systems did not change dramatically, as the preparation condition changed. An oxide film covered up the powders. The maximum magnetization decreased as increasing the content of Ni or Cr.

Shoreline variation and river deltas are among the most dynamic systems in marine environments. The related different variations in spatial and temporal scales play significant roles in land planning and different management applications. Modeling the dynamics of seashore of Boujagh National Park(BNP)which is located on the southern coast of the Caspian Sea in the Sefidrud Delta(SD), considering natural and anthropogenic factors, was the main objective of the current study. To achieve this goal, a combination of remote sensing data, historical data, and numerical simulations was utilized. The BNP covers an area of 3,270 ha and includes two international wetlands, Boujagh and Kiashahr. In earlier periods, this area faced severe morphological changes whereas recently its shoreline has experienced gradual variations. Accordingly, at the first stage, the shoreline variation from 2006 to 2017 was extracted by processing and classifying Operational Land Imager(OLI) and Thematic Mapper(TM) images from Landsat satellites using the Maximum Likelihood approach. In the second stage, the two dimensional MIKE21 model was utilized to identify wave and coastal current patterns and parameters for the year ***, the results showed that, the shoreline of the BNP is affected by several natural and anthropogenic factors. Seaward advancement of the shoreline occurred in zones A(east zone) and C(west zone) due to Caspian Sea Level drop and sedimentation while retreating occurred at Zone B(north zone) influenced by wave and current patterns and reduction of the Sefidrud River flows. Also, the results imply that maintaining the existing conditions results in the disappearance of a considerable part of the ecological area in the BNP. Hence, to manage and preserve the coastline of the BNP complying with the current anthropogenic and natural factors, it is vital to take necessary management measures.

AIM：To compare changes in visual acuity and macular edema in patients with central retinal vein occlusion（CRVO）treated with intravitreal injections of bevacizumab,macular grid photocoagulation combined with pan retinal photocoagulation（PRP）,or both（bevacizumab＋grid＋PRP）.· METHODS：Our study is a retrospective cohort clinical study that examined patients that suffered from ischemic CRVO with macular *** inclusion criteria were ischemic CRVO with macula edema and the availability of complete medical records for at least 12 mo after *** were patients with diabetes or any other retinal *** reviewed the medical records of patients treated in one ophthalmology departmentcomparing changes in visual acuity and macular edema in patients treated with intravitreal injections of bevacizumab vs those that were treated with macular grid photocoagulation and PRP or *** main outcome measures were the differences in best corrected visual acuity（BCVA） and in macular thickness,as assessed by optical coherence tomography,between the enrollment and the final follow up visits.· RESULTS：Sixty-five patients met inclusion *** were no statistically significant differences among the three groups in the mean changes in macular thickness as measured by ocular coherence tomography（131.5±41.2,108.6±29.2,and 121.1±121.1,P=0.110）,or in visual acuity（0.128±0.077,0.088±0.057,and 0.095±0.065）,for intravitreal injections,macular grid photocoagulation＋PRP and a combination of the treatments,respectively,P =*** proportions of patients with macular edema after treatment were：26.1%,28.6%,and 14.3%,respectively,P=0.499.· CONCLUSION：Similar benefit was observed for intravitreal injections,laser photocoagulation,or a combined regimen in the treatment of CRVO.A nonstatistically significant trend for reduction in macular edema was observed following combined treatment.

CRISPR/Cas9-mediated genome editing can inhibit virus infection by targeting the conserved regions of the viral genomic DNA. Unexpectedly, we found previously that pseudorabies virus(PRV) could escape from CRISPR/Cas9-mediated *** order to elucidate whether the escape of PRV from Cas9-mediated inhibition was due to cell deficiencies, such as genetic instability of sgRNA or Cas9 protein, the positive cells were passaged ten times, and PRV infection in the sgRNA-expressing cells was evaluated in the present study. The results showed that subculturing cells has no effect on Cas9-mediated cleavage of PRV. Different passages of PX459-PRV cells can stably express sgRNA to facilitate Cas9/sgRNA cleavage on the UL30 gene of PRV, resulting in a pronounced inhibition of PRV infection. Studies to elucidate the mechanism of PRV escape are currently in progress.

Background and Aims:A visual analogue score (VAS),based on application of a visual analogue scale,has been widely used to assess pruritus in clinical studies of patients with cholestatic liver disease.A VAS is a numerical score of the severity of the perception of pruritus,and,hence,is inherently *** objective of this study was to assessthe reliability of a VAS as an index of pruritus in cholestatic ***:In 8 patients with chronic pruritus due to primary biliary cholangitis,values for a VAS of pruritus were compared with corresponding measurements of scratching activity,which were generated by a monitoring system specifically designed to quantitate this *** relationship between individual values for the VAS and corresponding values for scratching activity during a specific interval immediately preceding the recording of the VAS was examined by determining the Spearman's rank correlation ***:The mean Spearman's rank correlation coefficient between individual values for the VAS and corresponding mean values for scratching activity was 0.072;the range of these coefficients was-0.04 to 0.26.A VAS of pruritus is an unreliable index of scratching activity,and,hence,of the pathophysiological process responsible for the pruritus of ***:It is concluded that the use of a VAS as a primary quantitative endpoint in trials of the efficacy of potential therapies for the pruritus of cholestasis may be inappropriate.

Clinical Use of the Intrauterine Morcellator: A Single academic center’s Experience

Objective: To reveal the breadth of experience for the intrauterine morcellator amongst gynecologists in a single US academic center. Design: Retrospective Descriptive. Setting: University Hospital. Patients: In total, 33 hysteroscopic procedures, with intrauterine morcellation, were performed for 28 patients for benign endometrial disease at?Magee―Womens Hospital at the University of Pittsburgh medical center between October 2006 and February 2012. Intervention: Operative Hysteroscopy with an intrauterine morcellator. Measurement and Main Results: The major indication for hysteroscopic surgery was endometrial polyp (54.5%), followed by intrauterine fibroids (18.2%), filling defect on sonohysterogram (15.2%), abnormal uterine bleeding (9.1%), and uterine synechiae (3%). The mean greatest diameter for all intrauterine pathology resected was 1.14 ± 0.46 cm (Range 0.6 - 1.9 cm), and, notably, the largest fibroid resected was 1.5 cm in greatest diameter. The average operative time was 39 ± 29 minutes (range 15 - 122 minutes), and average hysteroscopic fluid deficit was 286 ± 479.5 mL (range 30 - 2000 mL). There were only 2 patients for whom the deficit was greater than 1 L, one of whom underwent a myomectomy with total operative time of 26 minutes, while the other underwent a hysteroscopic adhesiolysis and had a total operative time of 122 minutes. The complication rate was 6.0%, and complications reported included uterine perforation (n = 1) and cervical injury (n = 1). Conclusion: The intrauterine morcellator is a useful tool for surgical treatment of intrauterine pathology that confers a low operative risk.
