The radiative transfer is one of the significant theories that describe the processes of scattering, emission, and absorption of electromagnetic radiant intensity through scattering medium. It is the basis of the study on the quan-titative remote sensing. In this paper, the radiative characteristics of soil, vegetation, and atmosphere were described respectively. The numerical solution of radiative transfer was accomplished by Successive Orders of Scattering (SOS). A radiative transfer model for simulating microwave brightness temperature over land surfaces was constructed, de-signed, and implemented. Analyzing the database generated from soil-vegetation-atmosphere radiative transfer model under Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer-Earth Observing System (AMSR-E) configuration showed that the atmospheric effects on microwave brightness temperature should not be neglected, particularly for higher frequency, and can be parameterized. At the same time, the relationship between the emissivities of the different channels was developed. The study results will promote the development of algorithm to retrieve geophysical parameters from mi-crowave remotely sensed data.

Class switch recombination(CSR)occurs at the IgH locus and replaces the immunoglobulin(Ig)isotype expressed from IgM to IgG,IgE or IgA,endowing the B cell receptor with novel effector *** is triggered by activation-induced cytidine deaminase(AID),1 an enzyme that deaminates cytosines to uracils in single-stranded DNA exposed by *** distinct antibody isotypes are encoded in the IgH locus in individual transcription units composed of a cytokine-inducible promoter,an intronic exon,and a switch region(Sx),followed by the exons encoding the constant region(Cx)(Fig.S1a).During CSR,the choice of recombination to a particular isotype is determined by the stimulation-dependent activation of specific promoters,triggering the generation of noncoding germline transcripts(GLTs).2 Thus far,the transcriptional regulation of the IgH locus is known to be controlled by the Eμenhancer,located downstream of the variable region and upstream of the donor switch region(Sμ),and the 3′regulatory region(3′RR)super-enhancer located downstream of Cα.

Fragiie X syndrome is the most common form of inherited mental retardation disease, resulting from absent of expression of its disease gene FMR1. To study the function of the fragiie X mental retardation protein (FMRP) through protein/protein interaction, a mouse embryo cDNA library was screened by the yeast two-hybrid system. A clone was found to interact specifically with FMRP. The cDNA of this clone ( Genbank accession number af102875 ) encoded a protein highly homologous to human G/T mismatch-specific DNA thymine glycosylase ( hTDG ). Interactions between various alternatively spliced FMRP isoforms and a series of mTDG deletion proteins were further studied in the yeast two-hybrid system and their interaction amino acid regions were determined. interaction between FMRP and TDG existed inside exon 13 of FMRP ( amino acid residue 397-425 ) and around amino acid residue 122-346 of TDG. These results will be helpful to the study of the biological role of FMRP.

＜正＞ Poly（ ADP-ribosyl） ation is an immediate DNA damage-dependent post-transla-tional modification of histones and other nuclear proteins that contributes to the survival of injured proliferating cells. Poly（ ADP-ribose） polymerases （PARPs） now constitute a large family of 17 proteins, encoded by different genes and displaying a conserved catalytic domain. PARP-1 （113 kDa）. the founding member, and PARP-2 （62 kDa） are so far the sole enzymes whose catalytic activity is immediately stimulated by DNA strand-breaks. A large repertoire of sequences encoding novel PARPs now extend considerably the field of poly（ ADP-ribosyl ）a-tion reactions to various aspects of the cell biology including cell proliferation and cell death. Some of these new members interact with each other, share common partners and common subcellular localizations suggesting possible fine tuning in the regulation of this posttranslational modification of proteins. This review summarizes our present knowledge of this emerging superfamily that might ultimately improve pharmacological strategies to enhance both antitumor efficacy as well as the treatment of a number of inflammatory and neurodegenerative disorders.

Transthyretin(TTR)is a small liver-secreted plasma protein that shows close correlations with changes in lean body mass(LBM)during the entire human lifespan and agglomerates the bulk of nitrogen(N)-containing substrates,hence constituting the cornerstone of body *** acids(AAs)dietary restriction causes inhibition of TTR production and impairs the accretion of LBM *** disorders result in cytokine-induced abrogation of TTR synthesis and urinary leakage of nitrogenous *** together,the data indicate that malnutrition and inflammation may similarly suppress the production of TTR through distinct and unrelated pathophysiological mechanisms while operating in concert to downsize LBM *** hepatic synthesis of TTR integrates both machineries,acting as a marker of reduced LBM resources still available for defense and repair *** operates as a universal surrogate analyte that allows for the grading of residual LBM capacity to reflect disease *** of TTR is a simple,rapid,and inexpensive micromethod that may be reproduced on a daily basis,hence ideally suited for the follow-up of the most intricated clinical situations and as a reliable predictor of any morbidity outcome.

Heterogeneity of biological samples is usually considered a major obstacle for three-dimensional (3D) structure determination of macromolecular complexes. Heterogeneity may occur at the level of composition or conformational variability of complexes and affects most 3D structure determination methods that rely on signal averaging. Here, an approach is described that allows sorting structural states based on a 3D statistical approach, the 3D sampling and classification (3D-SC) of 3D structures derived from single particles imaged by cryo electron microscopy (cryo-EM). The method is based on jackknifing & bootstrapping of 3D sub-ensembles and 3D multivariate statistical analysis followed by 3D classification. The robustness of the statistical sorting procedure is corroborated using model data from an RNA polymerase structure and experimental data from a ribosome complex. It allows resolving multiple states within heterogeneous complexes that thus become amendable for a structural analysis despite of their highly flexible nature. The method has important implications for high-resolution structural studies and allows describing structure ensembles to provide insights into the dynamics of multi-component macromolecular assemblies.

INTRODUCTION The immunoglobulin heavy(IgH)chain locus includes a large cluster of V,D and J segments spanning thousands of kilobases in mammals and its expression implies long-range 3D-regulation of various gene modifications.1 V(D)J recombination occurs during early B-cell ontogeny.2 It is regulated by multiple transcription factors and cis-regulatory elements,and most notably by the intronic 5′Eμelement located in the JH to Cμintron.3 The intergenic control region 1(IGCR1)located between the VH and D gene clusters inhibits rearrangement of the most DH-proximal VH gene segments,while promoting usage of distal VH gene segments.4 Other downstream elements of the locus,flanking its 3′end might have more subtle roles:while the large 3′regulatory region(3′RR)shows strong internal synergies2 and behaves as a superenhancer in mature B *** deletion showed no influence on the VDJ repertoire and rather increased transcription of unrearranged V segments.3–5 Insulators binding CTCF farther downstream of the 3′RR were shown,however,to promote usage of distal VH segments.6 Altogether,there are strong indications that elements involved in long-distance regulation of transcription might also influence VDJ ***-frame splicing of VDJ exons is also needed for full Ig expression.7 Given the functional importance of gene architecture and long-range interactions for the IgH locus physiology,we explored the dependence of the VDJ repertoire on Med1,a known actor of long-range enhancer interactions.
