Objective: To evaluate the quality of second trimester ultrasound examinations in patients consulting in the gynecology and obstetrics {2. at the University Teaching Hospital Yalgado Ouedraogo (UTH-YO) of Ouagadougou. Method: Our study took place from January 1st to March 31st 2.17, in the {2. of obstetrics and gynecology of the University Teaching Hospital Yalgado Ouedraogo of Ouagadougou. This was a descriptive study on the records of the second trimester ultrasound of pregnancy, with analysis of the iconography. We used the criteria of the Technical Committee of Fetal Echography (TCFE) of France to analyse all the ultrasound reports brought by the patients. Results: Three hundred ultrasound reports were collected over three months. It revealed that, in terms of patient identification, 100% of the reports bore the surname and first name of the pregnant woman;88% and 94.67% of the ultrasound scans bore the surname and first name of the ultrasound specialist respectively. Only 2. presented the brand and type of ultrasound scanner. The study of the quality of the appointment showed that 52. of the ultrasounds had been performed at the right time, between 2. Gestational Age (GA) and 2. GA. For the quality of the iconography, referring to the recommendations of the Technical Committee of Fetal Echography (TCFE) of France and taking into account the data confirmed by the literature, we found that the quality was slightly acceptable either respectively for biometric and morphological sections. Conclusion: The quality of the ultrasound reports of the second trimester ultrasounds in patients consulting in the obstetrics and gynecology {2. of the University Hospital Yalgado OUEDRAOGO was not totally satisfactory.

Inhibitory effect of lanthanum chloride on migration and invasion of cervical cancer cells

Tumor metastasis remains the main reason for treatment Jhilure and death of patients with cervical cancer. The prcsent study was designed to explore the effects of lanthanum chloride （LaCl3 on the invasion and migration of cervical cancel- cells and the underlying mechanisms. The migration and invasion of tumor cells was evaluated by a modified Transwell/Boyden chamber assays. It is well known that MMPs （Matrix metalloproteinases） and NF-κB （Nuclear factor-κB） pathway play important roles in migration and invasion of tumor cells, and also the expression of MMPs were regulated by NF-κB signaling. The expression on MMP-1 and MMP-9 was detected by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction （RT-PCR）; Western blot and the NF-KB-DNA-binding ac tivity assay were used to analyze the NF-KB activity. The results indicated that LaCl3 was capable of inhibiting the cell invasion and migration of human cervical cancer Hela cells by decreasing the expression of MMP-1 and MMP-9 via blocking NF-κB pathway

Objective: To evaluate the quality of first trimester ultrasound examinations in patients consulting in the gynecology and obstetrics {2. at the University Teaching Hospital Yalgado Ouedraogo (UTH-YO) of Ouagadougou. We used the criteria of the Technical Committee of Fetal Echography (TCFE) of France to analyse all the ultrasound reports brought by the patients. Results: Two hundred reports were collected in three months. In terms of ultrasound identification, only 2.reports out of 2.0 mentioned the brand and date of first circulation and 4 specified the type of device. The study of the quality of the appointment showed that only 52. of the ultrasounds had been performed at the right time, between 11SA - 14SA of amenorrhea. For the nuchal translucency quality, we rated by the Herman score, 41.67% of the scores were of “unacceptable” quality and only 58.33% were of “acceptable” quality we did not achieve “excellent” quality. The analysis of the biparietal diameter (BIP) cuts revealed that 1/4 only anatomical cuts had been well made. Analysis of the cranio caudal length (CCL) cuts showed that only 14.58% of the CCLs had been well done. Elements of early morphology had been explored to less than 5%. Conclusion: The results revealed the acceptable quality of the NC measurements, but a small proportion of NC achieved. The quality of the ultrasound, morphological analysis and biometrics period is not very acceptable.

Decline of semen quality during IVF is not associated with subjective male stress

The aim of the present study was to assess if semen quality declines during in vitro fertilization （IVF） and whether or not this phenomenon is triggered by chronic male stress. In order to test this hypothesis, we first investigated a retrospective cohort of 155 male IVF patients （testing cohort）. Subsequently, we started a prospective cohort study in men undergoing their first IVF and assessed semen quality and subjective male chronic stress using a validated tool, i.e. the Fertility Problem Inventory （FPI） questionnaire. The association between stress and sperm quality decline measured 4-6weeks before the start of IVF （T1） and at the day of oocyte retrieval （T2. was the primary outcome. Live birth rate, first trimester abortion and rate of poor responders were secondary outcomes. In the testing cohort, mean progressive motility, but not mean sperm density significantly declined. There were 78/154 （51%） men who showed a decline in semen density and 50/154 （32.） men who showed a decline in progressive motility. In the validation cohort, progressive motility declined, whereas, sperm density increased from T1 to T2. Of 78 men, 2. men had increased stress （FPI-score 〉 146）. Sperm density and progressive motility were not significantly different in men with and without stress. However, in the presence of male stress, couples had a higher rate of poor responders, miscarriages and a lower rate of live births. Subjective stress is not associated with a decline in semen quality observed during IVF but may be associated with adverse ore^nancv outcome.

The study about apoptotic signal transductions has become a project to reveal the molecular mechanisms of apoptosis. Heat shock proteins (hsps), which play an important role in cell growth and apoptosis, have attracted great attentions. A lot of researches have showed there is a hsps superfamily including hsp90, hsp70, hsp60 and hsp2., etc., which regulates the bio-logical behaviors of cells, particularly apoptotic signal transduction in Fas pathway, JNK/SAPK pathway and caspases pathway at different levels, partly by the function of molecular chaperone.
