Optimized Decision Tree and Black Box Learners for Revealing Genetic Causes of Bladder Cancer

The number of studies in the literature that diagnose cancer with machine learning using genome data is quite *** studies focus on the prediction performance,and the extraction of genomic factors that cause disease is often ***,finding underlying genetic causes is very important in terms of early diagnosis,development of diagnostic kits,preventive medicine,*** motivation of our study was to diagnose bladder cancer(BCa)based on genetic data and to reveal underlying genetic factors by using machine-learning *** addition,conducting hyper-parameter optimization to get the best performance from different models,which is overlooked in most studies,was another objective of the *** the framework of these motivations,C4.5,random forest(RF),artificial neural networks(ANN),and deep learning(DL)were *** this way,the diagnostic performance of decision tree(DT)-based models and black box models on BCa was also *** most successful model,DL,yielded an area under the curve(AUC)of 0.985 and a mean square error(MSE)of *** each model,hyper-parameters were optimized by an evolutionary *** average,hyper-parameter optimization increased MSE,root mean square error(RMSE),LogLoss,and AUC by 30%,17.5%,13%,and 6.75%,*** features causing BCa were *** this purpose,entropy and Gini coefficients were used for DT-based methods,and the Gedeon variable importance was used for black box *** single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)rs197412,rs2275928,rs12479919,rs798766 and rs2275928,whose BCa relations were proven in the literature,were found to be closely related to *** addition,rs1994624 and rs2241766 susceptibility loci were proposed to be examined in future studies.

Various resources of the so-called traditional Chinese medicine, such as taijiquan, massage, diets, or acupuncture, have become widely available in the everyday therapeutic culture of contemporary Argentina. While these resources can be found in the first half of the 20th century, it is evident that from the 1960s onward their presence is more evident, with a strong emphasis from the 1980s on. This article aims to describe the reception and popularization of body and therapeutic techniques of traditional Chinese medicine in Argentina in the 1980s through the case of Daniel Alegre, a key figure in the dissemination of Chinese therapeutic techniques. To do so, it focuses on certain key mediators in the popularization of techniques such as taijiquan and Chinese massage: teachers, promoters, and specialized magazines. All these mediators are key artifacts in the processes of massification and dissemination of traditional Chinese medicine in a broader emerging horizon associated with two simultaneous processes, the Chinese cultural transnationalization and the boom of new forms of holistic management of personal well-being.

On the Energy-Momentum Problem in Static Einstein Universe

The energy-momentum distributions of Einstein＇s simplest static geometrical model for an isotropic and homogeneous universe are evaluated. For this purpose, Einstein, Bergmann-Thomson, Landau-Lifshitz （LL）, Moller and Papapetrou energy-momentum complexes are used in general relativity. While Einstein and Bergmann-Thomson complexes give exactly the same results, LL and Papapetrou energy-momentum complexes do not provide the same energy densities. The Moller energy-momentum density is found to be zero everywhere in Einstein＇s universe. Also, several spacetimes are the limiting cases considered here.

Unified treatment for accurate and fast evaluation of the Fermi-Dirac functions

A new analytical approach to the computation of the Fermi-Dirac （FD） functions is presented, which was suggested by previous experience with various algorithms. Using the binomial expansion theorem these functions are expressed through the binomial coefficients and familiar incomplete Gamma functions. This simplification and the use of the memory of the computer for the calculation of binomial coefficients may extend the limits to large arguments for users and result in speedier calculation, should such limits be required in practice. Some numerical results are presented for significant mapping examples and they are briefly discussed.

Glucagon-like peptide-2 exhibits protective effect on hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury in rats

Glucagon-like peptide-2 （GLP-2） has potent anti-inflammatory effects and protects against experimental ischemia/reperfusion （I/R） injury in pulmonary, intestinal, and myocardial tissue. However, its protective abilities against I/R injury in the liver are unknown. We investigated the potential role of GLP-2 pretreatment on hepatic I/R injury in rats. A total of 24 rats were randomly divided into three groups （n = 8）. The first group was the control group; the second group was the vehicle-treated hepatic ischemia/reperfusion （HIR, vehicle saline-treated） group; and the third group was the GLP-2 pretreated I/R （GLP2-IR） group. Each rat in the third group was intraperitoneally administered 5 ~tg GLP-2 for 5 d before the procedure. A portal triad was created to induce ischemia with a vascular atraumatic clamp. After 40 min, the clamp was released to initiate hepatic reperfusion for 6 h. Blood samples and tissue specimens from the fiver were obtained. Alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, and total bilirubin levels significantly increased in the saline- treated HIR group （P 〈 0.001）, whereas GLP-2 pretreatment significantly decreased their levels （P 〈 0.01）. Our data suggested that GLP-2 pretreatment may have a protective effect on liver I/R injury. However, dose-response studies are necessary to determine the most effective dose.

Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome is a severe cardio pulmonary disease transmitted to humans by sylvan rodents found in natural and rural *** transmission is closely linked to the ecology of animal reservoirs and abiotic factors such as habitat characteristics,season or climatic *** main goals of this research were:to determine the biotic and abiotic factors affecting richness and abundance of rodent species at different spatial scales,to evaluate different methodologies for studying population of small rodents,and to describe and analyze an ecologically-based rodent management experience in a highly touristic area.A 4-year study of small rodent ecology was conducted between April 2007 and August 2011 in the most relevant habitats of El Palmar National Park,*** involved a wide range of control and prevention measures,including poisoning,culling and habitat modification.A total of 172 individuals of 5 species were captured with a trapping effort of 13860 traps-nights(1.24 individuals/100 traps-nights).Five rodent species were captured,including 2 hantavirus-host species,Oligoryzomys nigripes and Akodon *** nigripes,host of a hantavirus that is pathogenic in humans,was the most abundant species and the only one found in all the studied *** results are inconsistent with the dilution effect *** present study demonstrates that sylvan rodent species,including the hantavirus-host species,have distinct local habitat selection and temporal variation patterns in abundance,which may influence the risk of human exposure to hantavirus and may have practical implications for disease transmission as well as for reservoir management.

Functional networks(FNs)hold significant promise in understanding brain *** component analysis(ICA)has been applied in estimating FNs from functional magnetic resonance imaging(fMRI).However,determining an optimal model order for ICA remains challenging,leading to criticism about the reliability of FN ***,we propose a Smart(splitting-merging assisted reliable)ICA method that automatically extracts reliable FNs by clustering independent components(ICs)obtained from multi-model-order ICA using a simplified graph while providing linkages among FNs deduced from different-model *** extend Smart ICA to multi-subject fMRI analysis,validating its effectiveness using simulated and real fMRI *** on simulated data,the method accurately estimates both group-common and group-unique components and demonstrates robustness to *** two age-matched cohorts of resting fMRI data comprising 1,950 healthy subjects,the resulting reliable group-level FNs are greatly similar between the two cohorts,and interestingly the subject-specific FNs show progressive changes while age ***,both small-scale and large-scale brain FN templates are provided as benchmarks for future *** together,Smart ICA can automatically obtain reliable FNs in analyzing multi-subject fMRI data,while also providing linkages between different FNs.

SYNTHESES AND CHARACTERIZATION OF POLY(IMINOPHENOL)S DERIVED FROM 4-BROMOBENZALDEHYDE:THERMAL,OPTICAL,ELECTROCHEMICAL AND FLUORESCENT PROPERTIES

Schiff base monomers [2-（4-bromobenzylideneamino）phenol and 2-（4-bromobenzylideneamino）-5-methylphenol] were synthesized by the condensation reaction of 4-bromobenzaldehyde with aromatic aminophenols. Then, the monomers were converted to their polyphenol derivatives by oxidative polycondensation reactions （OP） in an aqueous alkaline medium. The structures of the synthesized compounds were characterized by solubility tests, FT-IR, NMR, TG-DTA, DSC and SEC techniques. The HOMO-LUMO energy levels and electrochemical （E＇g） and optical （Eg） band gaps were calculated from cyclic voltammetry （CV） and UV-Vis measurements, respectively. Cyclic voltammetry （CV） was used to determine the electrochemical oxidation-reduction characteristics. Optical properties were investigated by UV-Vis and fluorescence analyses. Solid state electrical conductivities were measured on polymer films by four point probe technique using a Keithley 2400 electrometer. The effects of electron-donating （--CH3） group at p-position of --NH2 group in aminophenol on electrochemical and thermal properties were also discussed. Photoluminescence （PL） properties of the synthesized materials were determined in solution forms using different solvents. Fluorescence measurements were carried out in various concentrated solutions to determine the optimum concentrations to obtain the maximal PL intensities.

Effect of acupressure on procedural pain before heel lancing in neonates

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effect of acupressure applied to UB60 and K3 acupuncture points in order to relieve the procedural pain caused by heel lancing blood sampling process in the term ***:The data were collected by using the Information Form and the Neonatal Infant Pain *** applied for 3 min before heel lancing blood sampling in the newborns in the experimental group(n=31).No intervention was applied to newborns in the control group(n=32).RESULTS:A significant difference was found between mean scores of the newborns in the control and acupressure group in favor of the acupressure group in terms of heart rate during and after the procedure,oxygen saturation before,during and after the procedure,duration of crying during and after the procedure(P<0.05).It was found that there was a significant difference between groups in terms of Neonatal Infant Pain Scale mean scores during(P=0.001)and after the procedure(P<0.05),and the difference was found to be in favor of the acupressure ***:As a result,acupressure was found to be an effective method in relieving pain caused by heel lancing blood sampling in newborns.
