Efficient removal of tetracycline hydrochloride through novel Fe/BiOBr/Bi_(2)WO_(6) photocatalyst prepared by dual-strategy under visible-light irradiation

It is important to investigate whether co.bining two modification strategies has a synergistic effect on the activity of photocatalysts.In this manuscript,Fe-doped BiOBr/Bi_(2)WO_(6) heterojunctions were synthesized by a one-pot solvothermal method,and excellent photocatalytic performance was obtained for the degradation of tetracycline hydrochloride(TCH)in water without the addition of surfactant.co.bining experiments and characterization,the synergistic effect between Fe ion doping and the BiOBr/Bi_(2)WO_(6) heterojunction was elucidated.The Fe/BiOBr/Bi_(2)WO_(6) co.posite photocatalyst had a beneficial void structure,enhanced visible light response,and co.ld inhibit the reco.bination of photogenerated support well,which improved the photocatalytic activity.The presented experiments demonstrate that Fe/BiOBr/Bi_(2)WO_(6) removes 97% of TCH from aqueous solution,while pure BiOBr and Bi_(2)WO_(6) only remove 56% and 65% of TCH,respectively.Finally,the separation and transfer mechanisms of photoexcited carriers were determined in co.junction with the experimental results.This study provides a new direction for the design of efficient photocatalysts through the use of a dual co.modification strategy.

A review on adhesion behavior of chip seal pavement and aggregate

Chip seal is widely used for preventive maintenance to mitigate pavement deterioration,but it is prone to aggregate loss during pavement service. To further promote the development and application of chip seals in road engineering in China, the research progress of the adhesion behavior of aggregate and binder in chip seals was reviewed in this paper,focusing on the adhesion mechanism of emulsified asphalt and alkaline aggregate. The Influencing factors and evaluation methodology of chip seals' aggregate adhesion behavior were also discussed. The results demonstrate that the adhesion process between emulsified asphalt and alkaline aggregate is divided into three processes including infiltration,demulsification, and cluster, which is more co.plicated when co.pared to hot asphalt.When designing a chip seal, not only the characteristics of single material should be paid attention to, but also the co.bination of binder and aggregate matters a lot. To form good adhesion between aggregate and asphalt binder, various influencing factors such as material selection, design method, and co.struction technical index should be co.sidered co.prehensively in the whole design, co.struction, and operation process. Three methods for evaluating adhesion behavior are summarized, including macrosco.ic adhesion performance tests, image analysis technology, and model prediction. It is not objective to evaluate the aggregate adhesion behavior of chip seal only by a single evaluation method.A co.prehensive evaluation based on the micro-macro multi-scale method should be co.sidered in the future.

Evolutionary Multi-Tasking Optimization for High-Efficiency Time Series Data Clustering

Time series clustering is a challenging problem due to the large-volume,high-dimensional,and warping characteristics of time series data.Traditional clustering methods often use a single criterion or distance measure,which may not capture all the features of the data.This paper proposes a novel method for time series clustering based on evolutionary multi-tasking optimization,termed i-MFEA,which uses an improved multifactorial evolutionary algorithm to optimize multiple clustering tasks simultaneously,each with a different validity index or distance measure.Therefore,i-MFEA can produce diverse and robust clustering solutions that satisfy various preferences of decision-makers.Experiments on two artificial datasets show that i-MFEA outperforms single-objective evolutionary algorithms and traditional clustering methods in terms of co.vergence speed and clustering quality.The paper also discusses how i-MFEA can address two long-standing issues in time series clustering:the choice of appropriate similarity measure and the number of clusters.

Sperm acrosin activity may be a useful factor in choosing between ICSI and IVF for infertile male patients

The clinical applications of acrosin activity are limited.We analyzed 61578 male partners in infertile co.ples who visited the outpatient department of the Reproductive and Genetic Hospital of CITIC-Xiangya(changsha,China)between August 2014 and December 2019 to determine the reference ranges and thresholds for acrosin activity in infertile Chinese men;to determine whether co.relations exist between acrosin activity and age,sperm co.centration,sperm morphology,or sperm motility;and to evaluate whether acrosin activity co.ld serve as an effective prognostic indicator for choosing between in vitro fertilization(IvF)and intracytoplasmic sperm injection(icsl)in the clinic.The cut-off value for the normal reference range of acrosin activity for male partners in infertile co.ples was 24.78μlU per 106 sperm.There was no significant association between acrosin activity and age,sperm co.centration,semen volume,total sperm co.nt,progressive motility,or total motile spermatozoa.A weak positive co.relation was found between acrosin activity and normal sperm morphology.There was a statistically significant difference in abnormal acrosome morphology between the group with high acrosin activity(>24.78μlU per 106 sperm)and the group with low acrosin activity(co.ld be in the selection of IcsI over IVF for infertile male patients with co.plete fertilization failure or a low fertilization rate.

In order to explore an efficient and green method to deal with nitrobenzene(NB)pollutant,reduced graphene oxide(r GO)as an electron shuttle was applied to enhance the extracellular electron transfer(EET)process of Geobacter sulfurreducens,which was a typical electrochemically active bacteria(EAB).In this study,r GO biosynthesis was achieved via the reduction of graphene oxide(GO)by G.sulfurreducens PCA within 3 days.Also,the r GOPCA co.bining system co.pletely reduced 50-200μmol/L of NB to aniline as end product within one day.SEM characterization revealed that PCA cells were partly wrapped by rGO,and therefore the distance of electron transfer between strain PCA and r GO material was reduced.Beside,the ID/IGof GO,r GO,and r GO-PCA co.bining system were 0.990,1.293 and 1.31,respectively.Moreover,highest currents were observed in r GO-PCA-NB as 12.950μA/-12.560μA at -408 m V/156 m V,attributing to the faster electron transfer efficiency in EET process.Therefore,the NB reduction was mainly due to:(I)direct EET process from G.sulfurreducens PCA to NB;(II)r GO served as electron shuttle and accelerated electron transfer to NB,which was the main degradation pathway.Overall,the biosynthesis of r GO via GO reduction by Geobacter promoted the NB removal process,which provided a facile strategy to alleviate the problematic nitroaromatic pollution in the environment.

Tourmaline guiding the electric field and dechlorination pathway of 2,3-dichlorophenol by Desulfitobacterium hafniense

The dehalogenation of organohalides has been a research hotspot in bioremediation field;however,the influence of tourmaline,a natural ore that can generate spontaneous electric field,on organohalide-respiring bacteria(OHRB)and their dechlorination process is not well known.In this study,the effect and mechanism of tourmaline on the reductive dechlorination of 2,3-dichlorophenol(2,3-DCP)by Desulfitobacterium hafniense DCB-2Twere explored.The characterization results co.firmed that tourmaline had good stability and the optimal dosage of tourmaline was 2.5 g/L,which shortened the total time required for dechlorination reaction to 72 hr.Besides,tourmaline amendment also increased the proportion of 2-chlorophenol(2-CP)from 18%to 30%of end products,while that of 3-CP decreased co.respondingly.The theoretical calculations showed that the bond charge of the orthosubstituted chlorine declined from-0.179 to-0.067,and that of meta-substituted chlorine increased from-0.111 to-0.129,which indicated that the spontaneous electric field of tourmaline affected the charge distribution of 2,3-DCP and was more co.ducive to the generation of 2-CP.Overall,tourmaline with the spontaneous electric field affected the reductive dechlorination pathway of Desulfitobacterium,and the tourmaline-OHRB co.bining system might serve as a novel strategy for the bioremediation of environments polluted with chlorinated phenols.

Hydrometallurgical reco.ery of lithium carbonate and iron phosphate from blended cathode materials of spent lithium-ion battery

The recycling of cathode materials from spent lithium-ion battery has attracted extensive attention,but few research have focused on spent blended cathode materials.In reality,the blended materials of lithium iron phosphate and ternary are widely used in electric vehicles,so it is critical to design an effective recycling technique.In this study,an efficient method for reco.ering Li and Fe from the blended cathode materials of spent LiFePO_(4)and LiNi_(x)co.(y)Mn_(1-x-y)O_(2)batteries is proposed.First,87%A1 was removed by alkali leaching.Then,91.65%Li,72.08%Ni,64.6%co.and 71.66%Mn were further separated by selective leaching with H_(2)SO_(4)and H_(2)O_(2).Li,Ni,co.and Mn in solution were reco.ered in the form of Li_(2)co.(3)and hydroxide respectively.Subsequently,98.38%Fe was leached from the residue by two stage process,and it is reco.ered as FePO_(4)·2H_(2)O with a purity of 99.5%by precipitation.Fe and P were present in FePO_(4)·2H_(2)O in amounts of 28.34%and 15.98%,respectively.Additionally,the drift and co.trol of various co.ponents were discussed,and co.t-benefit analysis was used to assess the feasibility of potential application.

Nanosize-effect on the distribution of heavy metals in co.per smelting dust:Based on sophisticated dust sorting approach

Dust particles emitted from smelters can be hazardous to eco.ystems and humans,as they are often enriched in metallic co.pounds.Here,we co.bined multi-method mineralogical analysis with a sophisticated size sorting approach for co.per smelting dust to study the nanosize-effect on heavy metal distribution,which has hitherto been underestimated.Three types of dust were co.lected from a co.per flash smelter and then size-sorted using a Dekati low-pressure impactor.Results showed that all three samples co.ld easily sort out nanoscale dust particles(co.ld reach 10.71%.The presence of heavy metals(Pb,Zn,Cu,and As)and their mineral species in dust was examined at various particle sizes.It was disco.ered that different heavy metals are enriched on nanoparticles in specific sizes.In micron-sized particles,heavy metals are generally found in discrete phases(e.g.,CuSO_(4),PbSO_(4),and As_(2)O_(3)).In nanoscale particles,the dominant phase is Fe_(3)O_(4),while heavy metals are mostly found in lattice substitution(e.g.,CuFe_(2)O_(4)and ZnFe_(2)O_(4)).Two distinct nano-dust morphologies were found:One with irregular mesh or chain structures co.sisting of particles of a few nanometers,and the other with polygonal crystals in larger sizes of hundreds of nanometers.The enrichment of heavy metals in the latter morphology is more pronounced,possibly because lattice substitution of heavy metals is more likely to occur when polycrystalline particles are formed.

Polysaccharides of Aspergillus cristatus attenuate obesity by regulating gut microbiota and gut microbiota-related metabolites

Golden-flower fungus,the only dominant microorganism determining the Fu-brick tea quality through fermentation and the important microbe in Liupao tea,is co.sidered a potential probiotic fungus based on its anti-obesity effect.However,the classification of golden-flower fungi is still co.troversial;the anti-obesity effect of golden-flower fungus polysaccharides remains unknown.In this study,we identify a golden-flower strain as Aspergillus cristatus based on morphological characteristics and multigene phylogeny analysis,which resolves the co.troversy of classification.Moreover,we find A.cristatus polysaccharides(ACPS)attenuate obesity in rats.ACPS modulate gut bacterial co.position.in which Akkermansia,Akkermansia muciniphila,Bacteroides,Romboutsia,Blautia,and Desulfovibrio are co.sidered the co.e microbes regulated by ACPS.ACPS increase fecal total short-chain fatty acid co.tent and serum,hepatic,and fecal total bile acid co.tent.Furthermore,ACPS-induced gut microbiota alteration plays a causal role in the protection from obesity,acco.ding to a fecal transplantation experiment.Thus,ACPS ameliorate obesity by regulating gut microbiota and gut microbiota-related metabolites.

Development and engineering application of integrated safety monitoring systems for China’s high-speed trains

With the improvement of the running speed of China’s high-speed trains,the demands for running status monitoring and security assurance of High-speed Electric Multiple Units(EMU)have increased significantly.However,the current safety monitoring systems are independent,which is not co.ducive to the co.prehensive monitoring and information sharing of the whole vehicle.The temperature monitoring of running gear is insensitive to early failures.How to develop a train operation safety monitoring system with strong engineering implementation and high integration is a key problem to be solved.For the monitoring of running stationarity,frame stability and running gear health of China’s high-speed trains,an integrated safety monitoring system framework is designed,and the logic and algorithm for the diagnosis of stationarity,stability and health states of rotating parts are co.structed.Monitoring software which fused the temperature,high and low frequency vibration data is developed,and the design and installation of the vibration temperature co.posite sensors are co.pleted.The research results have realized the integration and co.prehensive processing of multiple monitoring systems,co.pleted the improvement from single co.ponent and vehicle-level safety monitoring to multi-system,train-level and interactive monitoring.In the process of real vehicle application,the developed monitoring system acquires the vehicle operation status data accurately and in real time.The co.structed diagnosis algorithm and logic evaluates the vehicle operation status accurately and in a timely manner,and avoids the progression from fault to accident.The research results show that the integrated safety monitoring system can provide technical support for train operation safety.
