BACKGROUND Transverse myelitis(TM)is characterized by sudden lower extremity progressive weakness and sensory impairment,and most patients have a history of advanced viral infection symptoms.A variety of disorders can cause TM in association with viral or nonviral infection,vascular,neoplasia,collagen vascular,and iatrogenic,such as vaccination.vaccination has become common through the global implementation against coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)and reported complications like herpes zoster(HZ)activation has increased.CASE SUMMARY This is a 68-year-old woman who developed multiple pustules and scabs at the T6-T9 dermatome site 1 wk after vaccination with the COVID-19 vaccine(Oxford/AstraZeneca([ChAdOx1S{recombinant}]).The patient had a paraplegia aggravation 3 wk after HZ symptoms started.Spinal magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)showed transverse myelitis at the T6–T9 Level.Treatment was acyclovir with steroids combined with physical therapy.Her neurological function was slowly restored by Day 17.CONCLUSION HZ developed after COVID-19 vaccination,which may lead to more severe complications.Therefore,HZ treatment itself should not be delayed.If neurological complications worsen after appropriate management,an immediate diagnostic procedure,such as magnetic resonance imaging and laboratory tests,will start and should treat the neurological complications.

Several epidemiological models have been proposed to study the evolution of COVID-19 pandemic.In this paper,we propose an extension of the SUIHTER model,to analyse the COVID-19 spreading in Italy,which accounts for the vaccination campaign and the presence of new variants when they become dominant.In particular,the specific features of the variants(e.***.their increased transmission rate)and vaccines(e.***.their efficacy to prevent transmission,hospitalization and death)are modeled,based on clinical evidence.The new model is validated comparing its near-future forecast capabilities with other epidemiological models and exploring different scenario analyses.

The main objective of this study is to comprehensively investigate individuals’vaccination intention against COVID-19 during the second wave of COVID-19 spread in Vietnam using a novel hybrid approach.First,the Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory based on Grey Theory(DEMATEL-G)was employed to explore the critical factors of vaccination intention among individuals.Second,Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling(PLS-SEM)was applied to test the hypotheses of individual behavioral intention to get the vaccine to prevent the outbreak of COVID-19.A panel of 661 valid respondents was collected from June 2021 to July 2021,and confidentiality was maintained for all data obtained.The results identified that perception of COVID-19 vaccination and trust in vaccination strategy directly associated with individuals’COVID-19 immunization.Hence,the perceived severity of COVID-19 has an indirect impact on COVID-19 vaccination intentions via the perception of the COVID-19 vaccine.These findings indicated that the government’s information about vaccines is necessary for the new phase of vaccination intervention strategies in Vietnam.Therefore,the study suggests that the government needs to give complete information about the role of vaccines prioritizes transparency in official information about COVID-19 vaccines to allay concerns about side effects,allowing for the most appropriate policy formulation and implementation to encourage public vaccination.Future studies can apply PLS-SEM and other MCDM models with the fuzzy,hesitant numbers to re-evaluate the feasibility,validity and reliability of this research’s proposed model.

Dear Editor,We report a case of multiple evanescent white dot syndrome(MEWDS)relapse following mRNA corona virus disease 2019(COVID-19)vaccination.MEWDS is a choroidal inflammatory disease belonging to the group of“white dot syndromes”group,with an excellent prognosis[1].MEWDS is usually idiopathic,but there have been reports of MEWDS following viral infection or vaccination[1-2].

The interesting case report by Zhang et al on a 39 years-old male with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 1X has several limitations.The causal relation between the two episodes of asyndesis,dysphagia,and dyspnea 37 d after the second dose of the inactivated severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus-2(SARS-CoV-2)vaccine(Beijing Institute of Biological Products Co.,Ltd.,Beijing,China)remains unproven.SARS-CoV-2 vaccination cannot trigger a genetic disorder.It also remains unsupported that the patient had a stroke-like episode(SLE).SLEs occur in mitochondrial disorders but not in hereditary neuropathies.Because of the episodic nature of the neurological symptoms,it is critical to rule out seizures.Overall,the causal relation between vaccination and the neurological complications remains unsupported and the interpretation of symmetric diffusionweighted imaging lesions on cerebral magnetic resonance imaging should be carefully revised.

Collecting umbilical cord stem cells is widely practiced due to its numerous benefits. Over the past decade, umbilical cord stem cells (UCSCs) have shown effectiveness in treating various conditions, such as bone pathologies, neuropsychiatry disorders, hereditary diseases, and metabolic disorders. However, factors like immunization affect the quantity and quality of cord harvesting. Studies suggest that antibodies from the mother pass through the umbilical cord to protect the infant against infections. Cleaning the umbilical cord before stem cell extraction is crucial to maintain sterility and cell integrity. Vaccinating a female donor, including for COVID-19, typically does not directly affect the stem cells. Although vaccines aim to trigger an immunological response, they generally do not affect the donor’s stem cells.

Introduction In December 2019,multiple cases of aggravated pneumonia of unidentified origin were reported inWuhan,China.These were confirmed to be caused by a novel coronavirus.The World Health Organization(WHO)named the disease coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).The International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses officially identified the novel virus severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARSCoV-2).[1]Although China is now a low endemic areawith a downward trend in the number of confirmed and suspected cases,[2]the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic remains critical.By mid-March 2022,the cumulative number of reported confirmed cases of COVID-19 worldwide exceeded 450 million,with more than 6 million deaths.[3]Since there is no specific therapeutic drug for the treatment of COVID-19,it is important to control the epidemic by actively promoting SARS-CoV-2 vaccination globally,reducing the risk of viral transmission and the incidence of severe COVID-19,thus improving prognoses.[4]

Newcastle Disease in Chickens of Smallholder Farmers at Krang Yov Commune S’ang District,Kandal Province

The study was conducted in Krang Yov commune,S’ang district,Kandal province and was conducted in three villages,including Kampong Po,Andong and Svay Damnak village.In the total,88 families were selected for interview by using snowball technic of nonprobability sampling.According to the results of the interviews,it showed that the number of farmers who raised chickens and had participated in training was very low number,ranging from 10.71%to 34.38%.For chicken raising system,the free ranging was the most popular by allowing the chicken to scavenge around the village,however,the total confinement was also applied.The local breed was more popular and the purpose of raising was for selling meat,however there were few households that raised the fighting cock for hobby.The number of chickens owned per household,was mostly less than 20 birds,while,the average number of birds per household ranged from 16.82 birds to 37.66 birds.However,the average number of birds per household was significant different between the households who have participated in chicken raising training and those who never participated(pvaccination for chicken was significant different among the villages(pvaccination was the more popular in those areas.But,all of the households have experienced with the disease,especially ND(Newcastle Disease)accounting for 67.05%,followed by influenza and fowl pox.When chicken got sick,most of farmers had treated their chicken with different methods,especially buying the medicine from the store and treatment by themselves were mostly applicable.Regarding the specific case of Newcastle disea

Objective:To evaluate hepatitis B virus(HBV)vaccine coverage and its associated factors among health science students in Vietnam.Methods:This cross-sectional study involving 459 health science students at Tra Vinh University was conducted between April and June 2022.Data were collected using a structured questionnaire with items on sociodemographic characteristics,knowledge and attitude about HBV,and vaccination status.A multivariable logistic regression model was used to explore the factors associated with vaccination status.Results:The majority of participants were female(65.8%)and enrolled at the medical school(56.2%).A total of 30.3%participants received the full dose of the HBV vaccine.The percentages of participants with sufficient knowledge and positive attitudes toward HBV infection were 75.2%and 43.4%,respectively.vaccination was 11.8 times higher in sixth-year medical students than any healthcare student in their first-year[adjusted odds ratio(aOR)11.8,95%CI 3.1-45.1,P<0.001],and the coverage was also significant higher in those who had sufficient knowledge(aOR 2.0,95%CI 1.1-3.9,P<0.05)and positive attitudes(aOR 3.0,95%CI 1.9-4.8,P<0.05)than in their counterparts.Conclusions:The majority of students were not fully vaccinated against HBV,indicating they were vulnerable to the disease.Administrators and authorities should reinforce health education messages aimed at encouraging all students to get vaccinated with the HBV vaccine,enhance their awareness and knowledge of HBV,and improve attitudes toward HBV infection prevention.
