urinary incontinence among Jordanian women:Prevalence,types,and associated factors

Objectiveurinary incontinence (UI) is a prevalent condition with a negative impact on women's quality of life. Data about UI among Jordanian women are lacking;therefore, we aimed to investigate the prevalence, types, and associated *** cross sectional nationwide survey was conducted between 1 March 2020 and 15 April 2020. Women were included if they were 18 years of age or more and had access to the internet. Data collected included women's characteristics, UI types, and associated factors. UI was inventoried by asking women if they have UI (yes/no), and the Arabic language validated International Consultation on incontinence Questionnaire urinary incontinence-Short Form was used. Age-group specific prevalence rates of UI were estimated, and associated factors were studied using logistic regression *** from 2118 women were analysed. The median age was 40 (range 18–85) years;58.3% gave birth three or more times;and 64.1% consistently reported having UI. Limited mobility and being multiparous increased the likelihood of reporting UI. Compared to women with normal body mass index, overweight and obese women were 1.9 times and 4.4 times more likely to report UI, *** prevalence of UI among Jordanian women is 64.1%, with mixed UI and stress UI being the more prevalent types in women younger than 60 years old. Age, parity body mass index, and limited mobility are all associated factors with UI. The results of this study provide healthcare policy makers with the necessary information to increase awareness and knowledge regarding UI.

Management of end-stage erectile dysfunction and stress urinary incontinence after radical prostatectomy by simultaneous dual implantation using a single trans-scrotal incision： surgical technique and outcomes

Stress urinary incontinence （SUI） and end-stage erectile dysfunction （ED） after radical prostatectomy （RP） can decrease a patient＇s quality of life （QoL）. We describe a surgical technique involving scrotal incision for simultaneous dual implantation of an artificial urinary sphincter （AUS） and an inflatable penile prosthesis （IPP）. Patients with moderate to severe SUI （〉3 pads per day） and end-stage ED following RP were selected for dual implantation. An upper transverse scrotal incision was made, followed by bulbar urethra dissection and AUS cuff placement. Through the same incision, the corpora cavernosa was exposed, and an IPP positioned. Followed by extraperitoneal reservoirs placement and pumps introduced in the scrotum. Short-term, intra- and post-operative complications; continence status and erectile function; and patient satisfaction and QoL were recorded. A total of 32 patients underwent dual implantation. Early AUS-related complications were： AUS reservoir migration and urethral erosion. One case of distal corporal extrusion occurred. No prosthetic infection was reported. Over 96% of patients were socially the continent （≤1 pad per day） and 〉95% had sufficient erections for intercourse. Limitations of the study were the small number of patients, the lack of the control group using a perineal approach for AUS placement and only a 12 months follow-up. IPP and AUS dual implantation using a single scrotal incision technique is a safe and effective option in patients with SUI and ED after RP. Further studies on larger numbers of patients are warranted.

Pressure assessment in intercavernous embedding of bulboperineal urethra for treatment of urinary incontinence after prostatic operation

Aim: To put forward criteria for the pressure assessment in the operation of intercavernous embedding of bulboper-ineal urethra for the treatment of urinary incontinence after prostatic operation. Methods: A F14 urethral catheter isinserted during the operation and upon suturing the corpora cavernosa centrally, the catheter is slowly pushed in andpulled out in order that the operator feels a certain degree of close-fit resistance. The degree of tightness of the stitches,which regulate the compression pressure, is adjusted in accordance with this close-fit sensation. To further ascertain theadequacy of the force of compression, the bladder is filled with 300 ml physiological saline and observe the appropriate-ness (size and continuity) of the outflow stream when the lower abdomen is depressed with a pressure of 80 - 90 cmH_2O. The operation was given to six patients suffered from urinary incontinence for 20 or more months after prostaticoperation. Results: Five cases achieved complete recovery, while the therapeutic effect of the 6th one was not sat-isfactory . A second stage operation was carried out 3 months later with the addition of one more stitch both proximallyand distally to reinforce the compression force. The condition was improved dramatically. The follow-up period aver-aged 3.5 years. Conclusion; The adequacy of the compression pressure exerted by the juxtaposed corpora cavernosais the key point determining the outcome of the operation. The measures for assessing the compression pressure suggest-ed by the authors are helpful in obtaining the good results of the present paper (6/6 success) as compared with 25/34success in the previous report. Objective:urinary incontinence(UI)is highly prevalent in antenatal and postnatal women while the prevalence of UI varied largely from 3.84%to 38.65%.This study was to assess the prevalence of UI,the associated factors,and the impact of UI on daily life in pregnant and postpartum women in Nanjing,***:The prevalence of UI and the impact of UI on life were assessed by the validated Chinese version of International Consultation on incontinence Questionnaire-urinary incontinence-short form and the validated Chinese version of urinary incontinence quality of *** associated factors were estimated by using logistic regression ***:UI affected 37.80%of pregnant women and 16.41%of postpartum women of the study *** the pregnant participants,the prevalence rates of stress UI,urge UI,and mixed UI were 25.77%,4.47%,and 7.10%,*** the postpartum women,the prevalence rates of stress UI,urge UI,and mixed UI were 11.15%,1.92%,and 2.69%,*** both pregnant women and postpartum women,vaginal delivery had significantly increased the odds of reporting UI(p=0.007,p=0.003,respectively).The impact of UI on daily life was significantly greater in postpartum women compared to pregnant women especially in social embarrassment(p=0.000).Conclusion:The prevalence rates of UI were high in pregnant women in Nanjing,*** delivery significantly increased odds of reporting *** has a great impact on pregnant and postpartum women’s life,especially in social embarrassment.

Objective: To characterize the scientific production related to the impact of urinary incontinence on quality of life of pregnant women. Method: An integrative review carried out from September 2014 to May 2015. The search was conducted in six databases, and a final sample of seventeen publications was presented. The data were presented in tables. Results: incontinence related factors are: Being older, second pregnancy, multiparity, constipation, smoking, and obesity. Stress incontinence is the most occurring in pregnant women, causing an adverse impact on quality of life. Discussion: It is for health professionals who try to create effective coping strategies for minimizing consequences generated by the accidental loss of urine. Conclusion: urinary incontinence affects the mother’s life, resulting in social, behavioral, physical and emotional harm, taking this woman to be excluded from society and feel insecure about their health.

The bothersomeness of female urinary incontinence and its influencing factors: Study from a Chinese city
