In view of the resolution of relative Permeability curves of unconsolidated core containing heavy petroleum, a set of equations governing the oil/water coreflood are obtained based on porous medium flow theory, numerical analysis, optimum theory and error *** optimum problems are solved by means of constraint variable metric method. The sensitivity of results to initial data is eliminated. Several examples are included to illustrate the reliability and usefulness of this method.

Characterizing the complex two-phase hydrodynamics in structured packed columns requires a power- ful modeling tool. The traditional two-dimensional model exhibits limitations when one attempts to model the de- tailed two-phase flow inside the columns. The present paper presents a three-dimensional computational fluid dy- namics （CFD） model to simulate the two-phase flow in a representative unit of the column. The unit consists of an CFD calculations on column packed with Flexipak 1Y were implemented within the volume of fluid （VOF） mathe- matical framework. The CFD model was validated by comparing the calculated thickness of liquid film with the available experimental data. Special attention was given to quantitative analysis of the effects of gravity on the hy- drodynamics. Fluctuations in the liquid mass flow rate and the calculated pressure drop loss were found to be quali- tatively in agreement with the experimental observations.

Based on an electrical resistance tomography(ERT) sensor and the data mining technology,a new voidage measurement method is proposed for air-water two-phase *** data mining technology used in this work is a least squares support vector machine(LS-SVM) algorithm together with the feature extraction method,and three feature extraction methods are tested:principal component analysis(PCA),partial least squares(PLS) and independent component analysis(ICA).In the practical voidage measurement process,the flow pattern is firstly identified directly from the conductance values obtained by the ERT ***,the appropriate voidage measurement model is selected according to the flow pattern identification ***,the voidage is *** results show that the proposed method can measure the voidage effectively,and the measurement accuracy and speed are *** with the conventional voidage measurement methods based on ERT,the proposed method doesn't need any image reconstruction process,so it has the advantage of good real-time *** to the introduction of flow pattern identification,the influence of flow pattern on the voidage measurement is ***,it is demonstrated that the LS-SVM method with PLS feature extraction presents the best measurement performance among the tested methods.

A Hydrodynamic Modei for Slug Frequency in Horizontal Gas-Liquid two-phase flow

The prediction of slug frequency has important significance on gas-liquid two-phase flow. A hydrody-namic modei was put forward to evaluate slug frequency for horizontal two-phase flow, based on the dependence of slug frequency on the frequency of unstable interfacial wave. Using air and water, experimental verification of the modei was carried out in a large range of flow parameters. Six electrical probes were installed at different positions of a horizontal plexiglass pipe to detect slug frequency development. The pipe is 30m long and its inner diameter is 24 mm. It is observed experimentally that the interfacial wave frequency at the inlet is about l to 3 times the frequency of stable slug. The slug frequencies predicted by the modei fit well with Tronconi (1990) modei and the experimental data. The combination of the hydrodynamic modei and the experimental data results in a conclusion that the frequency of equilibrium liquid slug is approximately half the miniraum frequency of interfacial wave.

Electromagnetic Computer Tomography （ECT） is a method to probe the interior of an inhomogeneous medium via surface measurement in a non-linear way. Due to the great differences in conductivity and permittivity between oil and water in the well, Electromagnetic Tomography Well Logging （ETWL）, a new flow imaging measurement system, is proposed to describe the distribution and movement of oil/water two-phase flow in the well by scanning the detected region and applying a suitable data processing algorithm. The results of the numerical simulation and physical modeling show that the system could provide a clear image of the flow profile.

A new program is developed for gas-liquid two-phase mold filling simulation in casting. The gas fluid, the superheated liquid metal and the liquid metal containing solid grains are assumed to be governed by Navier-Stokes equations and solved through Projection method. The Level set method is used to track the gas-liquid interface boundary. In order to demonstrate the correctness of this new program for simulation of gas-liquid two-phase mold filling in casting, a benchmark filling experiment is simulated （this benchmark test is designed by XU and the filling process is recorded by a 16-mm film camera）. The simulated results agree very well with the experimental results, showing that this new program can be used to properly predicate the gas-liquid two-phase mold filling simulation in casting.

A new method for the voidage measurement of gas-oil two-phase flow was *** voidage measurement was implemented by the identification of flow pattern and a flow pattern specific voidage measure- ment *** flow pattern identification was achieved by combining the fuzzy pattern recognition technique and the crude cross-sectional image reconstructed by the simple back projection *** genetic algorithm and the partial least square method were applied to develop the voidage measurement *** results show that the proposed method is *** can overcome the influence of flow pattern on the voidage measure- ment,and also has the advantages of simplicity and speediness.

Stepped spillways have existed as escape works for a very long time. It is found that water can trap a lot of air when passing through steps and then increasing oxygen content in water body, so stepped spillways can be used as a measure of re-aeration and to improve water quality of water body. However, there is no reliable theoretical method on quantitative calculation of re-aeration ability for the stepped spillways. By introducing an air-water two-phase flow model, this paper used k-ε turbulence model to calculate the characteristic variables of free-surface aeration on stepped spillway. The calculated results fit with the experimental results well. It supports that the numerical modeling method is reasonable and offers firm foundation on calculating re-aeration ability of stepped spillways. The simulation approach can provide a possible optimization tool for designing stepped spillways of more efficient aeration capability.

The oil-water two-phase flow pressure-transient analysis model for polymer flooding fractured well is established by considering the comprehensive effects of polymer shear thinning,shear thickening,convection,diffusion,adsorption retention,inaccessible pore volume and effective permeability *** finite volume difference and Newton iteration methods are applied to solve the model,and the effects of fracture conductivity coefficient,injected polymer mass concentration,initial polymer mass concentration and water saturation on the well-test type curves of polymer flooding fractured wells are *** results show that with the increase of fracture conductivity coefficient,the pressure conduction becomes faster and the pressure drop becomes smaller,so the pressure curve of transitional flow goes downward,the duration of bilinear flow becomes shorter,and the linear flow appears earlier and lasts *** the injected polymer mass concentration increases,the effective water phase viscosity increases,and the pressure loss increases,so the pressure and pressure derivative curves go upward,and the bilinear flow segment becomes *** the initial polymer mass concentration increases,the effective water phase viscosity increases,so the pressure curve after the wellbore storage segment moves upward as a *** the water saturation increases,the relative permeability of water increases,the relative permeability of oil decreases,the total oil-water two-phase mobility becomes larger,and the pressure loss is reduced,so the pressure curve after the wellbore storage segment moves downward as a *** reliability and practicability of this new model are verified by the comparison of the results from simplified model and commercial well test software,and the actual well test data.
