BACKGROUND Insufficient and contradictory data are available about the relation between directacting antivirals(DAAs)and hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)development in patients with hepatitis C virus(HCV).AIM To analyze differences in basic clinical,radiological,and laboratory characteristics in addition to tumor behavior upon HCC diagnosis between patients with and without a previous history of DAAs *** This multicenter case-control study included 497 patients with chronic HCVrelated HCC,allocated into one of two groups according to their history of antiviral treatment for their *** Group I included 151 HCC patients with a history of DAAs,while 346 patients who had never been treated with DAAs were assigned to group II.A significant difference was observed between both groups regarding basic assessment scores(Child,MELD,and BCLC),which tended to have more advanced liver disease and HCC stage upon diagnosis in group ***,serum albumin was significantly affected,and serumα-fetoprotein was significantly higher in group II(Pbehavior is more aggressive in DAA-treated patients.

BACKGROUND Primary breast diffuse large B-cell lymphoma(PB-DLBCL)is a rare subtype of non-Hodgkin lymphoma that accounts forbehavior of breast *** To compare the conventional US and SWE features of PB-DLBCL and evaluate their diagnostic performance and prognostic *** We retrospectively reviewed the clinical data and US images of 32 patients with pathologically confirmed PB-DLBCL who underwent conventional US and SWE before *** analyzed conventional US features(shape,margin,orientation,echo,posterior acoustic features,calcification,and vascularity)and SWE features(mean elasticity value,standard deviation,minimum elasticity value,maximum elasticity value,and lesion-to-fat ratio)of the PB-DLBCL *** receiver operating characteristic curve analysis,we determined the optimal cutoff values and diagnostic performance of conventional US and SWE *** also performed a survival analysis to assess the prognostic value of conventional US and SWE *** The results showed that the PB-DLBCL lesions were mostly irregular in shape(84.4%),microlobulated or spiculated in margins(75%),parallel in orientation(65.6%),hypoechoic in echo(87.5%),and had posterior acoustic enhancement(65.6%).Calcification was rare(6.3%)and vascularity was variable(31.3%avascular,37.5%hypovascular,and 31.3%hypervascular).The mean elasticity value of PB-DLBCL lesions was significantly higher than that of benign breast lesions(113.4±46.9 kPa vs 27.8±16.4 kPa,P<0.001).The optimal cutoff value of the mean elasticity for disti

Urinary bladder cancer(UBC)is a heterogeneous disease with highly variable clinical outcomes and responses to *** some advances in the molecular understanding of UBC,this knowledge still has not been translated to the clinic in terms of improvements in the prognosis and treatment of *** urinary bladder tumor models representative of the human disease in terms of histology and behavior are needed to study factors involved in tumor initiation,progression and ***,accurate model systems would facilitate identification of new therapeutic targets and predictive markers that could lead to optimization of existing therapies and development of new *** established cancer cell lines derived from human urinary bladder tumors representing different grades and stages have been used as experimental models for UBC *** cell lines reflect some of the genetic and morphologic alterations observed in human urothelial carcinoma and serve as simplified models to study the behavior of cancer cells in ***,their translational potential is limited due to the artificial conditions,in which the cells are maintained,grown and *** models offer a more complex and realistic model for the establishment,development,and progression of tumors as well as to evaluate new therapeutic *** the years,the authors'group has worked with several UBC cell lines,established and characterized chemically induced UBC models,and patient-derived xenografts *** this study,the authors will provide a summary of the UBC models developed by their group,analyze their translational potential and weaknesses,and define areas that remain to be explored.
